I don't think we are seeing .300/30/100 from Manny this year. Not the way he's looked this year. I think we will be lucky for .290/25/90, which isn't bad. But we are also going to see 25+ GIDP, and I think it's safe to say we were expecting 35+ HRs, 115+ RBIs, and an OPS near 1.000. For Drew I was expecting somewhere around 15-20 HRs, 90 or so RBIs, and an OPS around .900. When you make it relative to "expectations", the under-performance is looking like it will be something like this:
Manny - 10 HRs and .120 OPS
Drew - 8-10 HRs and .150 OPS
To me, it's a close call who has been more disappointing when you consider what you thought you were getting. If we are talking just raw numbers, then sure, Drew will be more disappointing if we make the expectation equal, but did anyone "expect" Drew to come close to Manny numbers?
