  1. Your's too? Small world. Happy B-Day, man.
  2. Second place? Hey, an improvement. Last year it was third. Just give me warning before you see them winning it, because that's the year they have no shot.
  3. You don't care that it was a 15 y/o girl? What's the statute of limitations on statutory rape? Even if he drops his defamation case, which is what brought all of this out (nice move Roj), he could find himself in a courthouse nonetheless.
  4. Another swinging bunt. 4-2
  5. One hit out the IF, and they've scored 3.
  6. Batting practice has begun. Sacks full with no outs.
  7. 700's proclamaition of 10 more pitches (he started the inning at 69), is looking prophetic. 1-0 Tribe with 2 on, no outs.
  8. Kidd doesn't fit on the Mavs because of the roster. His best years in NJ, when they made the finals 2 years in a row, he had guys with an endless motor who weren't just shooters and needed a good PG to get them the ball in open space. Dirk's main offense is backing his man from the high post to the wing and fading away and spotting up. Howard likes to create his own shot. There's no need for Kidd there. Kidd's specialty is the "how the f*** did he see that" pass. Dallas just needs a PG who can fill it up when their other scorers go cold.
  9. A thread for each series is a bit much since there hasn't been that much traffic here lately. One thread should cover the season for my other favorite team (thread title). Tonight, it's the Tribe. Bottom of 5, and it's 0-0.
  10. Smart move by the Pirates. If someone picks him up they are off the hook for the money. It would be ideal for them if there was a big market team, one that throws money around like a sailor on shore leave, that was having a hard time getting innings from some unproven kids and might be interested in a vet with "big game experience". Jus' sayin'.
  11. Which is why a "fair" but incorrect subjective interpretation of the strikezone is never fair. Aggressive swinging teams always gain an advantage because their hitters are accustomed to putting pitches out of the strikezone in play. Teams that teach and utilize patience at the plate are always penalized because their hitters are accustomed to putting balls in play that are only within the strikezone defined by the rules. With the new technology available to MLB, they have the potential to really push for accountability within the umpiring ranks. One would hope they regularly review umpire performance, particularly their performance behind the plate, and that there is the potential for disciplinary action, be it suspension of their turn behind the plate in the umpire rotation or even suspension of their participation in games, when they have consecutive reviews that reveal performance below an established standard. However, I doubt this happens.
  12. Certainly, the credit is yours for recognition of the system. I too considered the current selection system, which is why my wager is but a trifle. So, I think some credit should go my way as well.
  13. I don't doubt that he will improve. Where I think we differ is that magnitude of his improvement. I think his body type will lend itself well to doubling the power he's demonstrated to date. That puts him, like I mentioned above, it the 20+ area. All-Star performance from a CF, but I think that same body prevents him from continuing there. The usual suspects in the ASG for COF spots tend to do more than I see him doing. And, it isn't like he's going to get the pity "one from every team" spot being on the Yankees. That said, the fans could rock the vote. So, that first round is at the mercy of the rationality of Yankee fans. Great.
  14. LOL - "I'm not going to say I told you so, but, I told you so" 25 games. He's been playing big league ball for 12 months (5 in '06, 6 in '07, 1 in '08). With a career OPS of .730, he's had 6 months that are either +/- .100 or more from that mean. He's shown an ability to be either very hot or very cold. My guess is those looking to crow might want to give the other shoe a chance to drop before doing so. Just a thought.
  15. Maybe I did, I can't remember. Anyway, if you think the problem with this team will be the offense and not the pitching, then you probably are, so it fits.
  16. Hittrackeronline has his two YS HRs in the "Just Enough / Luck" category. That said, he has been good this month. With his track record of streakiness and hard slumps, he's going to have to do it longer before he's "come of age". The thread title deserves a question mark at the end.
  17. I can't blame them there. With the zone Shields was getting late, they should have swung at anything that looked hittable. Here's a prime example. Lowrie in the 8th.... http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f8/kembry/bullshit.jpg Pitches 1 and 3 were called strikes.
  18. I don't recall calling you stupid. I do recall countering the idea that the offense will be liability on the season based on your description of the 5th out 30 being not good. And, despite your proclamations, they lead the league in runs scored this year. I guess that is not very good. Are they in a rough patch now? Sure, and that's going to happen. What's odd, and is the source for the lack of scoring, is the fact that everyone got cold at the same time (except Manny). EDIT: By league, I mean AL. They are 3rd in MLB, but 1st in AEqR.
  19. Lots of that. Ellsbury needs to let the game come to him sometimes. When there are runners on he's impatient.
  20. WTF is up with the offense. One run in the last 20 or so innings.
  21. Wasn't one there when I checked the page. You must have finished yours while I was typing. What a s***** cheap ass Devil Ray run.
  22. Beckett's cruising. Struck out the side in the 1st two frames. Youk and the ump weren't paying full attention in his AB, as they allowed another pitch, which resulted in a popup, after the 4th ball. FSN Florida replayed and confirmed that indeed did happen. Gameday says the first pitch was a strike. Does MLB manually edit the pFx data to not make themselves look bad at times?
