  1. Hey, thanks for the recipe. Sounds great, I'll be sure to give it a try. Now, on to more important business, how does Lugo manage to make 3 outs here?
  2. Sure, I love fuffins (what my 2 y/o calls them).
  3. 10 pitch inning! Never would have imagined that given how it started.
  4. Luckily for us, and Dice, they K a lot on pitches to other locations.
  5. Do player's typically popup to the same part of the field regardless of their rate? That's what I'd be curious to know. I didn't mean to suggest he pops up at an alarming rate, but when he does it's typically to the SS. That, to me, suggests he's doing something to account for this tendancy.
  6. Ahh, fack, the weak dribbler to the right. Patented JD at-bat.
  7. Need a dagger shot here, JD. Knock him out.
  8. That said, they need to run Soup from the game this inning, and get into that weak 'pen.
  9. At least it only cost him about 10 pitches. He's at 80 through 5. A quick 6th and he could give 7 in the first half of the double dip.
  10. So, when do they start calling the "attempt to avoid getting hit" rule? Kendall leans in and lets it hit him worse than Biggio ever did. Oh, and Hall was out.
  11. There has to be some kind of mechanical flaw in Ellsbury's swing for him to popup to SS as frequently as he does.
  12. Ran up to the store to refill the propane for the grill (I wanted to do it earlier, but try getting a 4 y/o and 2 y/o girl ready in any kind of time), good to see Papi playing yardball while I was gone. Lugo's an idiot.
  13. That should be good for a week, maybe longer.
  14. JD, I won't call you a china doll if you do something big here. For like, at least a month, or so.
  15. Leadoff walk on 5 pitches. Nothing close, one grooved FB at 3-0. He really kind of sucks.
  16. My vote is for the previous game's thread. By recollection, that is what we've done in the past.
  17. I've been paying attention, and there are some who are sitting SPs after they get a couple of good starts in a week. This bodes well for them in ERA and WHIP, but they are virtually giving up QS and K. The net benefit is zero.
  18. The combination of first game of the double header and the big strikezone JHB predicts and the Crew's swing happy lineup should bode well for Dice K, provided he pitches like normal.
  19. Because all I can get on Saturdays from now until the end of the season will be the Marlins and Rays, I'm watching the Rays game today. Another Joe Magrane gem to share with you all. JP Howell comes into the game and Magrane quips, "JP has really found his niche in this bullpen". The situation was pitching the 6th inning on the road down 3. Some niche spot that is.
  20. I think you can find my feelings about turf in the original post. It is an artificially fast surface. It changes the physics of the game. I think every field should be free from overhead obstructions that impact the ground rules and should have the same playing surface. I'm ambivalent about the DH rule. Watching the pitcher hit is not entertaining, unless it's Micah Owings. And, it allows some entertaining players to prolong their careers. That said, I think it's bad for baseball overall. Youth baseball is catering the the specialization found in the pro game. My younger brother is 16 and a pitcher. He hasn't batted in a game in close to two years. That's stupid. Everyone who takes the field should have to hit. Unfortunately, the MLBPA and AL owners will not relent on the inclusion of the DH. I also think there should be one set of rules for all of MLB. Having different rules for the two leagues that make up MLB is silly. If it were up to me, I'd get rid of the DH. However, if we ever see uniformity of rules, I think it will be the NL adopting the DH.
  21. Shut up and give me my pass for the F-Train.
  22. A 14 y/o in 7th grade? Is he the Sofa King?
  23. Welcome to the site. That said, I'm going to disagree about the Trop. Yes, the prices are right, but indoor baseball should be considered a crime against humanity. Stupid groundrules need to be made up for a roof that shouldn't be there, the field is artificially fast, and the crowd noise is artificially loud. I hope they get started on and complete the new proposed stadium before I leave FL so I can watch a real baseball game here.
