I think you can find my feelings about turf in the original post. It is an artificially fast surface. It changes the physics of the game. I think every field should be free from overhead obstructions that impact the ground rules and should have the same playing surface.
I'm ambivalent about the DH rule. Watching the pitcher hit is not entertaining, unless it's Micah Owings. And, it allows some entertaining players to prolong their careers. That said, I think it's bad for baseball overall. Youth baseball is catering the the specialization found in the pro game. My younger brother is 16 and a pitcher. He hasn't batted in a game in close to two years. That's stupid. Everyone who takes the field should have to hit. Unfortunately, the MLBPA and AL owners will not relent on the inclusion of the DH. I also think there should be one set of rules for all of MLB. Having different rules for the two leagues that make up MLB is silly. If it were up to me, I'd get rid of the DH. However, if we ever see uniformity of rules, I think it will be the NL adopting the DH.
