  1. Yeah, Chris Malec, not on the Pawsox, so..... Decent outing from Bowden today for the Pawsox. He went 4.2 with 2 H, 2 BB and 5 K's. The walks are uncharacteristic of him, but he struggled with location in ST. Bailey with a dinger. Pawsox up 3-0 in the 6th.
  2. Jame Gumb?
  3. But, but, but .....shut the f*** up, you pom-pom waving ****. I'm just busting your balls, and I will continue to every time you use this forum to polish Yankee nutsack for every positive thing they do. Got it, Skippy? Christ, you are worse than Michael Kay.
  4. Striking out the side for professor Farnsworth, now that is dominant. Getting everyone to hit the ball at a fielder is fortunate, not dominant.
  5. Where do you come by the part in bold? Statistically, there's no case for it. The Yankee offense scored 789 runs with an RC of 832 last year. ARod will be out for the same amount of time, Teixeira (134 RC) replaces Giambi (94 RC), but then Nady needs to replace Abreu's 106 RC (doubtful). Figure things break right for them with Matsui, Posada, and Damon, and what are we talking about, 930 runs? The Sox RC was 927 last year. This is with them getting a .650 OPS out of their catchers, .718 out of SS, and Ortiz being hurt half the year. Any improvement there will cover any dropoff from Youk or Pedroia not being able to replicate what they did. Bay should easily replicate the 7.6 RC/G Manny put up last year. I agree that the Sox didn't do much to improve, at least not in terms of upgrades "on paper". No, any improvement will come from progression for Ellsbury and Lowrie, and/or bounce backs from Ortiz or Varitek. The potential for improvement is there, but at worst, you can say the expectation should be that they don't experience a dropoff. Back to my question, where do you see them having a distinct offensive advantage?
  6. I think every team in MLB is going to struggle to score more than 6 runs consistently, at least if you use an acceptable definition of "consistently" that will be the case. Consistently means reliable, steady, constant....meaning you'd have to push the limits and apply a loose definition to have it mean 50% of the time, which would make it the median and close to the mean. That means we are back to where das is using a 960 run offense as the measuring stick. Nobody has surpassed that amount since 2003, and I don't think anyone will this year.
  7. Yeah, really, and look at what's being said in relation to the topic of the thread. Everyone expected nothing from Tek, and rightly so given his past couple of seasons and advancing age. The fact that he's looking like he could be contributing more than nothing is something to be "optimistic" about. That said, nobody should change expectations, IMO. His OPS on 5/21 last year was .892. He was dreadful after that.
  8. So do I, which is why I refrain from posting in these threads. Isn't that enough, just letting it be? Is it necessary to come take a steaming dump in the thread?
  9. Point or not, what he said is better left unsaid. I don't disagree, but I also have the respect to know that opinion serves no purpose in this thread. Of course, if you were the type of person who ached for attention, you'd pretty much say anything to get some.
  10. Roster Schedule Players to Watch - a truckload Position - Ryan Dent (2B ), Tim Federowicz ©, Ryan Lavarnway ©, David Mailman (OF), Anthony Rizzo (1B/OF), Michael Almanzar (3B ), Peter Hissey (OF), Oscar Tejeda (SS) Pitchers - Caleb Clay, Casey Kelly, Brock Huntzinger, Stolmy Pimentel This team is stacked with potential talent. Mid-game stats from tonight's opener: Lavarnway and Federowicz both 2/3 with a HR, Dent 1/3 with a BB, SB and 2 R. Pimentel pitched 5 IP with 8 H, 2 R, 1/0 K/BB Discuss.
  11. Daeges has a DH body, plays DH defense, and hit like an premier MIF prospect in AA last year. He's got the body to break out into some serious power, and his BA/OBP are quite good, but he's got to start hitting like he did in Lancaster without needing the launching pad.
  12. The fact that you think you have indicates the impossibility of that ever happening. Look at the reason for the creation of the thread. It's the opposite partner thread to one for designated for venting. It's perfectly reasonable to have this thread without it being an overreaction, so stop assuming everyone is.
  13. Don't listen to Ziggy Cockmuncher. He/she/it/s*** is a Yankee fan incognito, IMO. The reaction in the "CC is a f***ing bust" thread felt like frustration. Varitek hitting whatever his BA happens to be right now is not what's important. He's been making consistent quality contact, but has suffered from some bad luck on balls in play. I'll take a full season of the way he's hitting the ball now. Hopefully, it lasts. Pedroia's got to be on the good side too. Couple of lasers for extra bases with a dinger, a walk in each game. More of that is welcome.
  14. Roster Schedule There's a slew of prospects to pay attention to here. Position Players - the OF will feature 3 potential CF's with Che-Hsuan Lin, Ryan Kalish, and Jason Place, catcher Luis Exposito, infielders Chih-Hsien Chiang and Yamaico Navarro Pitchers - Kyle Weiland, and by May Nick Hagadone and Stephen Fife will be out of XST and in Salem. Discuss.
  15. Roster Schedule Game #1 is underway. Players to Watch Position Players - Lars Anderson, Josh Reddick, Argenis Diaz, and catchers Jon Still & Mark Wagner Pitchers - Junichi Tazawa, Dustin Richardson, Felix Doubront, anyone, anyone, Bueller? Tazawa's finished the 4th, with 1 ER and 5 K's. Lars and Reddick are both 0-2. Discuss.
  16. Roster Schedule First game was a day game today. Pawsox won 6-4. Of note, Dan Bard recorded the save with 4 K's in 2 perfect innings. Dusty Brown went 2/5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Enrique Gonzalez got the start. Not sure when Clay or Bowden make their first starts. Not really anyone else worth following, although I suppose I'll check in on Kris Johnson from time to time. Discuss.
  17. It's good to be selective, get a good pitch to hit and all that, but I think they need to move the lumber a little more. Lots of looking K's, and they are getting stuck having to hit pitcher's pitches after letting a hittable pitch go by for a called strike. IIRC, Magadan was known as a player for his selectivity, so the approach of the team makes sense from the perspective of how he played. I think to some degree, they may be taking that approach too far.
  18. Kinda, but he's been on twice today. I'll take that every game, please.
  19. What does this mean? It's the 7th inning. Do they get extra runs at the end of the game for having "saved" people on the bench?
  20. I forward the motion that "RamRam" gets nipped in the bud right now.
  21. MDC left his nutsack in the dugout.
  22. LOL Get it?
  23. Dude, that was center-cut meat, Drew.
