  1. Woooo!! Lowell Spinners game goes into 12th inning tied at 3... bases loaded, 2 outs, 3-2 count, Middlebrooks capped it off with an RBI single to center field that the centerfielder almost had a play on. He had been struggling coming into this game, hitting just .225. Today he went 3 for 6 with a double and 3 RBIs Pawtucket's game was more easy going (5-2), Pauley pitched a good game to notch his 13th W of the season. Joe Thurston hit the only homerun that was seen for the double header, just barely cleared the right field wall. Chris Smith earned the save, he'll definitely be back Sept 1
  2. http://bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/2008_08_08_SD_s_Brian_Giles_may_agree_to_waive_hello/srvc=redsox&position=2 It very much sounds like this is more than a block type claim. The Sox have been negotiating a deal, in hopes Giles would give the Ok. One of 2 things will happen, Ellsbury sent down to pawtucket to get his groove back in Pawtucket (even though last 2 games have been signs of encouragement). Or the Sox mightve found a trading partner for Coco Crisp
  3. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/padres/2008/aug/07/red-sox-claim-giles/?padres Maybe just a block? Regardless they have 48 hours to work out a trade
  4. Im liking the look for the bullpen in the 2nd half. Scott Eyre would just be bullpen depth in Pawtucket like Borowski would if he signed Masterson Lopez Aardsma Timlin Okajima Delcarmen Papelbon
  5. I heard on Weei that Pennington will be cut or traded today... The most likely team to get him is Green Bay
  6. Id shrug off the Manny/Papi comment... but what a disgrace of a human being to say Lester's cancer had come back and he died from it
  7. Yes I know that, noting also the team's struggle on the road
  8. Regardless against KC, great to see the Sox win a series on the road. Wakefield was actually awarded a W in yet another quality start of his. Ellsbury just might be breaking out of slump, another 2 hits by Bay. Lowell hitless again, not that long until Bay switches spots in the lineup with him. Lowrie is up to 12 RBIs in the past 6 games! He's been deadly with RISP this month. Im liking the bullpen since the Break Wakefield last season vs Kansas City in 1 game, 0-1 with an 8.53 ERA (6 Runs in 6.1 innings). This season on the road in 13 games, 2-5 with a 3.95 ERA Hochevar this season at home in 11 games, 4-5 with a 4.80 ERA
  9. At least it makes the AFC East more interesting
  10. I didnt say the Yankees were the closest team in the wild card race. Just saying its good that the gap between the Sox & Yankees went up a game
  11. Thank god for Ryan Ludwick hitting a walkoff 2 run homerun to win it in 12 innings. IMO Ryan Franklin will be re-handed the closers job any day now
  12. Manny Who? haha just kidding, but def bay is on a hot roll as ever. 4 for 5 including a Youkilis type bizzare RBI double (just about every other night its a homerun) Ellsbury needed a game like this. Beckett looked more like his 2007 self Tampa Bay wins but at least the Sox added another game in between them and New york
  13. Just Win Beckett last season vs Kansas City in 1 game, 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA. This season on the road in 12 games, 5-5 with a 3.38 ERA Bannister this season vs Boston in 2 games, 0-2 with an 9.89 ERA. At home in 13 games, 5-5 with a 3.73 ERA
  14. The rotation is suddenly Mussina Pettitte Ponson Giese Kennedy/Alfredo Aceves
  15. Jason bay doesnt have a place to play here?
  16. Bay is capable of 30+ HR/100 RBI seasons. He's no Manny but has more power than Youkilis and Lowell to be a solid cleanup hitter
  17. Rasner, Kennedy, Igawa... who do you pick
  18. Agree Jacko, the Yankees need to be real careful. I heard Rasner is a possibility to replace him but Kennedy is in Triple A, put Rasner as the long man and call up Ian
  19. Just putting out this here agin, I have been all for Bay since I heard the trade rumors coming out of nowhere. Manny pissed me off with his bailing on the team antics and Im glad in La Last night I noticed this thread, I thought no harm in doing saide by side comparison stats every week just for kicks I know one thing and thats for Bay to start hitting 4th behind Ortiz
  20. Ill do a weekly update on stats, side by side comparison of what each player has done since the trade Manny Ramirez LA Dodgers since trade are 2-2 10 for 16 (.625 avg) Double, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 5 Runs, 2 Walks, 2 Ks Jason Bay Red Sox since trade are 4-1 9 for 21 (.429 avg) 2 Doubles, Triple, HR, 6 RBIs, 8 Runs, 3 Walks, 5 Ks
  21. It is very rare for a team to be able to acquire a 29 year old right handed slugger, capable of 30 HR/100 RBI seasons. Plus him being under cheap control over the next 2 seasons. This was a coup for Theo in a bad situation. JayHawk dont you think if Bay ends the year on a strong note (perhaps October), and it rolls over into 2009... the Sox would try and extend his contract?
  22. And Bay still had 64 RBIs coming into Boston... Damn is all you can say
  23. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=280803116 Moss' first hit as a Pirate is a homerun against Carlos Zambrano
