    The Mets gave up s*** to get Santana. The last proposed trade I heard the Red sox offered was Lester, crisp, masterson and lowrie. Eek... add $140 million for an extension and on top of that, Beckett's asking price just got even higher The Red Sox are brain dead for not willing to push further?

    Solid game by the offense. While Byrd did give up the 4 runs. It did come on just 2 bad pitches and he pitched long enough to keep the Sox in the game and not too long for the bullpen. After facing the Blue Jays 3 conecutive times, I bet he's giddy to move on to someone else. And Pedroia continues to roll! He is set to have 15 + HRs, 75+ RBIs Also great to see some power from Tek, homering in 3 consecutive games!! Byrd this season vs Toronto in 3 games, 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA.     The Yankees will hand off blank checks to Mark Teixeira and C.C. Sabathia. Right now I dont see the Sox making big splashes (free agent wise, but ya never know). Onto another subject the Red Sox have 7 potential free agents: Jason Varitek, Sean Casey, Alex Cora, Bartolo Colon, Paul Byrd, Mike Timlin, Curt Schilling. Even with Boras being tek's agent and his offensive decline, I believe the Sox will still sign him. Of those 7, he is the only player I see returning
