  1. what kind of lineup is this?? Alex Cora leading off the lineup, and playing ss--damon, millar, and edgar are all out 1) Alex Cora ss 2) Tony Graffanino 2b 3) David Ortiz dh 4) Manny Ramirez lf 5) Jason Varitek c 6) Roberto Petagine 1b 7) Bill Mueller 3b 8) Gabe Kapler cf 9) Adam Stern rf
  2. Theo wont have to look for 3rd, Youkilis will be the starter. As for 2nd base goes, I see starting position either going to Tony G or Triple A Dustin Pedroia. and for first, Sox are taking interest in Paul Konerko or the D-Rays' Aubrey Huff
  3. another idicoy move Toree would make that would end up benefitting the Sox. Small is a great starting pitcher they have on their rotation
  4. he's supposed to be in for today, last I heard on nesn post-game report
  5. Sox dont steal as much bases as other teams like devil rays and white Sox simply because there is no need to most of the time, they have the best offensive lineup in the major leagues leading categories such as runs, hits, drawing walks, why steal a base when you know guy up to bat has the ability to drive the ball into the oufield or beyond
  6. Matt Clement, a good friend of Remlinger's at the Chiacgo Cubs, had urged the front office to go and get him to come to the Sox. Sox had traded off some prospect and cash considerations to get him

  8. agree with you there, Wade Miller just doesnt have it, and question is will he still be in a Sox uniform com April?? Just because Papelbon could become a starter by next season, Bronson Arroyo said he sees himself as in the long reliever mode in 06, and Gordon Edes said Sox will be back to pursuiting AJ Burnett in the off-season
  9. Apparently Clement had urged the front office to get Remlinger, one of his friends while on the Chicago Cubs. A big oops on his part, and the front office will probably not hear any ideas from him for awhile.
  10. Remlinger is likely to be called down to Triple A, or even a possible DFA.
  11. you would be right, rotoworld has just confirmed papelbon will be indeed starting game 2 against the Tigers
  12. you do know he has been part of 3 walkoff wins for the Sox?
  13. just a note of interest, on rotoworld.com it noted that "Mike Remlinger was called up from the minors on Sat Aug 13" I had wrote an email to someone from the site asking if a typo was in place, and he had confirmed it was a typo and Remlinger has rather been sent down to Triple A. no reports on who is getting the call up
  14. yeah, Remlinger and Bellhorn should be the odd-men out this month, if Red Sox want to build a pennant race lead. The 2 pushovers need not apply.
  15. Haha the kid, Alex Smith, San Franciscojust drafted #1 decided to sign him to a 6 year $60 million contract before his feet touched ground on a pro-football field, $20 million of that is guaranteed whatever happens. As with all top quarterback picks, he could become the next Steve Young or the next Jeff Garcia Mat Cassell, a 7th round pick by the Pats, had different results in his first start; completing 13 of 21 passes for 135 yards including a touchdown.
  16. But last night he faced just 2 batters, walk and a rbi double got Tito right away to the mound, very smart of him by the way to do so. Ok lets see without getting a single out, his ERA is right now Infinity!!! On no outs has given up 3 hits, 5 Runs, and 2 Walks--nah but i shouldnt be too quick to judge, i get you now haha. listen he just doesnt have it, i was thinking maybe we'd see somerthing different his 2nd tiem around, but first batter drew a walk and then next a double, he wasnt even throwing the ball where tek wanted it, and tek deserves much more than that
  17. he has been struggling but he will likely stay on for the rest of the season, this is his last year in his contract where he will become a free agent and Sox wont likely at all renew his contract. Petagine will be sent down as soon as Olerud comes back from the DL next week, but you can count on Roberto possibly sent up on Sept 1 when rosters expand. Interesting to note, Gordon Edes said that 1st basemen on Theo's mind to acquire for 2006 are the D-Rays' Aubrey Huff, and even the Chicago White Sox's Paul Konerko.
  18. Bellhorn um yeah with last nights game he went 0 for 5 with 2 Ks 12 games batting 5 for 45 (.112 avg) Double, HR, 5 RBIs, 5 Runs, 3 Walks, 15 Ks
  19. Matt Perisho isnt a prospect, been in the big leagues since 1997, he pitched for the Marlins this season in 24 games and had an ERA of 1.93
  20. Today is the 16th anniversary of the Red Sox setting a major league record, recording their 24th straight win at Fenway Park
  21. um hmm maybe because they are in the same division and only team that stands a chance of catching up with them. Yankee fans in denial, love it
  22. yes Tony G has been in fact noted as the star of the game, his 3rd time since joining the Sox--Tonight he was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 Runs scored, plus also for that great double play he turned by wuickly tossing it to edgar as the ball touched his hand---His time with the Sox in 17 games he is batting .358 with 1 HR, 6 Doubles, 10 RBIs, 16 Runs scored, 3 Walks, 12 Ks, 2 SBs
