  1. sure thing, the next two pitchers for detroit dont actually "own boston" haha, Nate Robertson for game 2 has a 8.38 ERA in 2 games. and the "ace" of the Tigers Jeremy Bonderman has a 6.39 ERA against Boston in 5 games
  2. ok lets just say that Manny doesnt come back for 2006, signing both Konerko and Huff could be plausible, and great fits for the team with konerko at first and huff in left field. not sure of the pay, but obviously konerko would be given the higher paying contract
  3. If Manny is off to another team in 2006, the Sox will then have the willpower to extend Damon's contract and go for Konerko with a nice multi-year contract, since Konerko can be a 30+ HR season player
  4. 5. one that really had me scratching my head
  6. Torrential rain saved Boston's 13-game home winning streak Sunday and sent the Red Sox on the road for the season's longest trip with their six-game winning streak intact. The Red Sox open their three-city, 10-game tour on Monday in Detroit against the Tigers. The three-game series at Comerica Park will be followed by four games in Anaheim and three more in Kansas City before the Sox return to Fenway for a 13-game homestand on August 26. Bronson Arroyo (10-7) takes the ball for Terry Francona's Red Sox against Detroit right-hander Sean Douglass (4-2), Bronson hoping to pitch well and achieve his career high 11th win of the season. This is Boston's second trip to the Motor City, having won the final three games of a four-game set May 2-5. The Tigers don't visit Boston until the beginning of the next homestand. The six-game overall winning streak is Boston's second longest this season. Pitching matchup BOS: RHP Bronson Arroyo • 10-7, 4.28 ERA in 2005 • 1-0, 1.13 ERA vs. DET in 2005 DET: RHP Sean Douglass • 4-2, 4.08 ERA in 2005 • 0-0, 1.29 ERA vs. BOS in 2004 Quick hits The Red Sox have 10 or more hits in each of their last seven games, matching their longest run of 2005 (June 19-26). They last posted more than seven straight games of double-digit hits during a nine-game run July 1-10, 2004. ... During their current stretch, Boston is batting a collective .354 (91-for-257) with 17 doubles, 10 homers, 65 runs scored while compiling a .537 slugging percentage. Boston has raised its team average to a Major League-leading .285 from .280 in those seven games. ... Boston is 9-2 in August. ... The Red Sox, at 30-29 away from Fenway, are among only four American League teams with winning road records, joining Chicago (38-19), Cleveland (36-25) and the Angels (33-25).
  7. good choice as a DH, he feasts when the bases are loaded---2 grand slams in one game from either side of the plate. need I say more?
  8. not bad, in career 1st baseman starts, 11 errors in 138 games
  9. at this time, orioles' fans will cheer for anything
  10. well im just hoping the scouts were summoned to games Millar had gotten some hits in
  11. Bill Mueller would be my pick as the new 3rd baseman coach
  12. yankeedoodle its best to let us have our fun this season, because 2006 will be a bigger and tougher season--along with blue jays, orioles and now d-rays becoming more competitive
  13. well Red Sox have won their last 18 of out 23 games so far
  14. I heard once on WEEI that several times Astros and Phillies scouts have been summoned to Red Sox games to watch Millar play
  15. haha yea, im quite the speedy typer
  16. Jim Thome would be a big liability, he's been declining for past couple of seasons now. If not Paul Konerko, Aubrey Huff or Todd Helton I wouldnt mind at all being signed as the new 1st baseman
  17. it would be a hell of an uplifting story, dont get me wrong its just Houston is in a push to get the NL wild card. im taking this with a grain of salt right now.
  18. look at Mark Bellhorn, it was highly speculated that he wouldnt make the playoffs roster as starter, rather being Pokey Reese--and he actually stepped up and had the highlight of his career, I could only hope Millar does the same before he turns off the light of his Red Sox career
  19. knowing the clubhouse and tito, loyalty will go to millar having him on their roster for the playoffs--petagine and olerud will either have the other 1st baseman role
  20. exactly after this 10 game road trip, Sox will come back to the Fens and host a 13 game homestand
  21. Sox have chances with the rest of the August schedule to just break out with more wins, then really buckle down for september
  22. Olerud is expected to the Sox shortly before Trot, which would give Petagine the temporary bump down to Triple A until Sept 1
  23. they arent going to bump Youkilis past September because anyways when Sept 1 comes around the rosters are able to expand--Yes Nixon will go on a rehab but it will be a limited one at best and he'll be expected back to the Sox before the end of August
  24. stop worrying so much, hes just got like a month and a half left in Boston. it is possible to see millar demoted to backup duties with olerud once he comes back later this month
  25. sox wont do that to millar, letting him go when his contract ends in month and a half, where is sense in that--It is likely Youkilis will start getting more time at 3rd base
