  7. Lets Go Jays!! Towers tries to continue torrid stretch Blue Jays (63-61) at Yankees (68-55), 7:05 p.m. ET The first one wasn't close, but the Blue Jays have three more chances to even the score. New York dominated the series opener, winning by a seven-run margin and sending the Jays to their fourth straight loss. By contrast, the Yankees have won eight of their last 11 games. Toronto's Josh Towers will get the ball in the second game, and he'll be matched up against New York's Al Leiter. Towers has been one of his team's most consistent starters this season, and he recently became a 10-game winner for the first time in his career. Leiter, on the other hand, was released earlier in the year by Florida and has pitched to mixed results with the Yanks. The Blue Jays are 3-6 against the Yankees this season, and they're 5 1/2 games behind New York in both the American League East standings and the hunt for the Wild Card. Last year, when Toronto went 7-12 against New York, 10 of the 19 games were decided by two runs or fewer. Pitching matchup TOR: RHP Josh Towers • 10-9, 4.12 ERA in 2005 • 0-1, 4.50 vs. NYY in 2005 NYY: LHP Al Leiter • 3-3, 4.84 ERA in 2005 • 1-0, 0.00 vs. TOR in 2005 Player to watch Towers is 7-4 with a 3.43 ERA on the road this season. He has wins in three of his last four outings, and he's thrown six straight quality starts. Quick hits The Blue Jays are 26-20 against AL East opponents, 34-25 at home and 29-36 on the road. They're also 43-46 against right-handed starters and 20-15 against southpaws. ... Toronto's 63-61 record is 11 games better than the mark at this point last season (52-72). The team's best record through 124 games is 77-47, achieved in 1985. The worst was 39-85, done in 1979. The Yankees have won three of four and eight of 11. ... Tino Martinez played in the 2,000th game of his Major League career on Monday, appearing as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement for Jason Giambi. ... Felix Escalona notched his first hit as a Yankee with an RBI single in the seventh inning on Monday.
  8. ah "big papi" whatever we say he'll try to sway things Arod the cheater's way
  9. go look at how Ortiz played defense during the world series and the interleague games, he played some solid D out there and he only gets to play a few games at 1st base each season--Ortiz is more clutch than arod ever is
  10. Manny has a fielding percentage of .976, Arod has .969--Manny has made 5 errors, Arod has made 10
  11. Manny has had 12 outfield assists, leads the leagues in that area
  12. he's not Randy Johnson this season. This season he is more as Kevin Brown's understudy
  13. um yeah Manny is headed for 45+ Homeruns and 135-150 RBIs, while Ortiz is headed for 40-45 Homeruns with 130+ RBIs
  14. i cant wait for this game for bazillion reasons. football being back, see how the Pats do without the likes of Johnson, Bruschi, Crennel, and Weiss, etc.--also love to see the Sox's secondary pound the ball away from the ******* Randy Moss, make him look like a rookie
  15. yes that is true "yankeessuck" Manny has 12 this season
  16. Sox's schedule is in their favor, this series against the Royals has Wells, Clement and Schilling and then they return to Fenway to play 24 out of the last 36 games there--best home record in all the majors. Pitching is getting better--Clement and Bronson each gaving back to back quality starts, Papelbon as a starter or reliever is pretty much lights out--Gonzalez has good stuff as the long reliever, not allowing a run in his past 8 innings of relief--Timlin as setup or closer, im very much comfortable with--and Bradford and Myers are a great combo of sub marine pitchers to get out lefties and righties--As for the offense, best f***ing offense 3rd season in a row says it all!!!!
  17. shouldnt that be kept him out for the season and not just 1 game?
  18. . ?? im talking about if Millar had caught the final out, he would give it back to the red sox organization. how was that bashing him?? I was Mienketwicz bashing
  19. at least Millar would give the Red Sox the ball back if he caught it. (2004 World Series final out)
