  8. Downs, Blue Jays try to draw even Toronto (75-78) at New York (90-63), 1:05 p.m. ET After losing to New York in the series opener, the Blue Jays will play the Yankees on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game set. Scott Downs will take the mound for Toronto, looking to boost his record over the .500 mark for the first time this season. Downs has only two decisions in his last five starts, but those are both wins. He worked five innings in his most recent start, allowing seven hits and three runs during a 7-5 loss to the Mariners. He did not factor in the decision. The Yankees will counter with right-hander Jaret Wright, who will pitch for the first time since being hit in the right elbow by a piece of Eric Hinske's broken bat on Sept. 18. Wright was forced to leave that start after 2 1/3 innings, and he took the loss after allowing four runs -- three earned -- and five hits. Pitching matchup TOR: LHP Scott Downs • 3-3, 4.32 ERA in 2005 • 0-1, 4.82 ERA vs. NYY in 2005 NYY: RHP Jaret Wright • 5-3, 5.61 ERA in 2005 • 1-1, 2.89 ERA vs. TOR in 2005

  13. Chacon has bumped back to 2 solid starts after getting rocked by Boston, Id still suggest he shouldnt make the start for game 1 this coming Friday
  14. Nomar will not come back, he and the sox front office left on sour notes, lets not forget he's injury prone. remember edgahh's 4 year $40 million contract?---i dont think they will at all try to unload his contract this offseason have Nomar at 3rd?, the only options for 3rd base are Mueller and Youk in 2006
  15. damn. that is shady of him to do so. Now thats out of the way, still my favorite pick to be 1st baseman for 2006 is Aubrey Huff, unlike Konerko he said he would be open to go to Boston
  16. best offense: Manny is getting back to himself (big thanks for starting to hustle more on the bases) HR, 3 RBIs, 2 Runs---Cora having a 3 hit night--Edgahh had a good night with 2 hits, 3 Runs, Walk---Tront with his clutch 2 RBI double dishonorable mention: Damon needs to get it going, 0 for 5 tonight--as well as Tek (still no where near out of his slump) 0 for 4 with 2 Ks best defense: Edgahh had a clean night best pitching: Bronson almost made it a short night for himself, but he settled down very nicely to notch his 14th win of the season---Myers, Papelbon and Timlin held down the O's bats to close out the game
  17. Timlin with the way of the K!!!! his 10th save of the season
  18. another pitching change, as rookie 2b castro let a ball slip thru his glove for ortiz to get on. cmon manny!!
  19. optimism, shall we? timlin's ERA with the bases empty is at 0.96
  20. well yeah its just these yankee fans who think he will just bomb when there is pressure on. he's got such good stuff, i cant wait to see him as a regular starter
  21. Paps our setup pitcher for rest of 05? yes i very much think so
  22. leadoff walk for miguel tejada (who has had good numbers against arroyo)---even remy said he was thinking a relief pitcher shouldve started the 8th
  23. dont worry Tony G is expected back tomorrow, he'll give offense a boost, with the sox he has hit over .300
  24. thank you tek for slapping some sense into bronson 10 retired in a row good to see Manny, Trot, Edgar, and Cora picking it up--especially Edgahh
