  1. sorry "Jimmycarter05", its looking like no soriano for 2006. Boston is planning on giving rookie Dustin Pedroia the starting nod, with Alex Cora returning for backup duties
  2. did i post just the news of tony g?... no i posted the article that listed the other sox offseason plans want me to take out that part of the news from my post for you to make you feel better?
  3. good to at least hear Alex Cora will be back he did prove he's worth having there offensively when a player has a day off or whatever. And his solid D is very valuable, how many times did we see him on the ESPN web gem plays of the dayt??
  4. its true, Tony G thanks for the memories, wish the best for you from Boston.com
  5. and we all know tampa bay's offense has come around, their pitching staff though needs retooling to the max
  6. as WEEI suggested Aubrey Huff is on the Sox's radar this offseason, since he is under contract for the D-Rays in 2006, a trade will have to occur Boston: Aubrey Huff Tampa Bay: Abe Alvarez and another undetermined prospect
  7. i cant wait for this one, i wonder how Hudson will be. game 1 he was all over the plate Go Astros!!
  8. ummm so who do you suggest Red Sox go for their 1st baseman then... Millar is obviously out of the picture, Konerko is a non issue, and John Olerud is only good as a backup. Not actually a surplus as well of good 1st baseman FA's this offseason as well.
  9. Cool that he feels the way, he obviosuly has struck a chord with Red Sox Nation from the first day he donned #10 on his back. Even then, knowing little about him Fenway Faithful gave him a standing ovation with his first hit which was a high double off of the green monster. more importantly his error in game 2 against the chi sox which proved costly, that didnt make much question the player he was after seeing him react, knowing he just messed things up. Seeing that standing ovation when they called his name yesterday was really a great thing to see. In his 10 years of playing in the majors he's been accounted for a total of just 69 errors, more or less a nice stat to have. His offense is as well a viable option to add to the red sox, a 300 hitter, had clutch hits in the 2005 season for the sox, great baserunning skills (1st time ive seen a runner on second score on an infield single) I really do hope to see his name under the Red Sox batting lineup come opening day in April
  10. on WEEI: Huff is on the list of players Sox hope to take on board. He is under contract by the D-Rays for 2006 at $7.5 million. Which would acquire the Sox to trade such prospects as Kelly Shoppach, Abe Alvarez, Brandon Moss, or even Anibel Sanchez.
  11. yeaaa but he said "2004 made you people complacent", meaning he was talking to us sox fans. the quote wasnt directed to the team itself, it was towards us sox fans because we arent pissing and moaning about the loss, what all cocky yankee fans want to see.
  12. ok, so if us fans take losses more devastatingly, it will be another 86 years or so? laughing my ass off here, dude arod2212 shut up that doesnt make any sense. As I said before yes it sucked that they lost and I was hoping for another world series title, but hey what can I do? sit around and gloat about it? Ok then so the reason yankees havent won the world series in 5 years is because the yankee fans as well have been complacent and "not wanted a world series win"? get off your high horse, ass
  13. And you can lead that parade!! dude whatever, you're a disgrace of being a red sox fan. Ive been a die hard fan since birth in 83, and i have seen much worse losses than what happened in Chicago, I could list them if you want. A loyal fan is one who has faith in their team even in their darkest days, you on the other hand start buying white sox apparel.
  14. schil did have several good starts and started to come around from mid September on (notably two starts both wins against the Yankees) with this offseason of rest, training, etc. i think he could be close to what he was in 2004 Foulke is still very iffy
  15. anyone think bronson's 2006 club option should be picked up by the Sox? there has been good starts, but then again a number of starts in 2005 had him last 3 innings or less giving up 5+ Runs if wells doesnt retire 1. back to form Schilling 2. Wells 3. Papelbon 4. Wakefield 5. Clement (if Clement has again a good 1st half, but another disgusting 2nd half, sox should consider dealing him the 2006 offseason) if wells retires 1. back to form Schilling 2. Matt Morris, if not then A.J. Burnett 3. Papelbon 4. Wakefield 5. Clement
  16. I heard on WEEI that Huff is on the list of players Sox hope to take on board. He is under contract by the D-Rays for 2006 at $7.5 million. Which would acquire the Sox to trade such prospects as Kelly Shoppach, Abe Alvarez, Brandon Moss, or even Anibel Sanchez.
  17. His 20/25 HRs and 90-110 RBIs average a season would be quite an upgrade over Kevin Millar. Huff, who was almost acquired in July by the Red Sox was quoted as that he loves how Boston is and wouldnt mind at all playing here and having Fenway Park as his homestand. Konerko rather has repeatedly laughed off questions of joining the Red Sox (1) he wants to stay with the white sox, and I see them signing him to a long lucrative contract right after whenever their season ends. and (2) he grew up in connecticut, a die hard yankees fan along with his family. "Yeah well Boston, dont get me wrong, its a nice place just to visit."
  18. in some ways we were accepting this, the way our pitching staff has been on/off this season. yes it does suck big time, but hey what can we do, our guys played their hearts out to the last out. 2004 had changed a lot of things for us, able to go on smoothly compared to what happened in prior playoffs.
  19. anyone find it ironic the last play millar made as a Red Sox was an error? other than that, I hope to see John Olerud back if he doesnt retire, to have him on board as a defensive backup and good pinch hitter is valuable to say the least
  20. i know he wasnt a 20 game winner and cy young award candidate. wow you didnt even read my post right. if wakefield had gotten the run support in september and mirabelli was healthy all year, i said he couldve been a 20+ game winner. its not just me who was saying that, on espn, foxsports, weei, etc.
  21. Wakefield was signed to a $4 million contract for 2006, and has club options for years after... Lets see, why should the Sox keep Wakefield? Maybe just because he was their Ace of 2005 leading in wins, ERA, K's, innings pitched (also 3 complete games). If not for lack of run support in September and Mirabelli being out for several weeks early in the season, Wake couldve been a 20+ game winner and candidate to win the AL Cy Young award. Ortiz carried the offense on his back, but Wakefield had carried the pitching staff on his back
  22. boo I was hoping to see a good game tonight There is Padres vs Cards but... (1) its at 11:35 pm (2) padres vs cards is the least exciting playoffs matchup of 2005
  23. hey dud i never said to get rid of Manny, thats only way we can get Huff. even if Manny stays, I still want the Red Sox to go for Aubrey Huff. Unlike Konerko, he sounded happy at the thought of making Fenway Park his home
  24. ah well see Jon Lester is 100% untouchable, hell no for him to be traded as lots of Red Sox Nation will bring torches and pickforks to the Sox Front Office. Believe me just look at his pitching stats for Portland. I assure you 5 years down the road, Lester & Papelbon will be what Schilling & Pedro were in 2004
  25. just as i did in 2003 and many years before just sat on the couch stunned by what I was just seeing, but I thought how they gave it all their and reflected on the good moments of 2005. Ortiz is still a viable candidate to be the AL MVP, walkoff hits aplenty and others that were done by the other sox bats. We were introduced to the future ace of the Sox, Jonathan Papelbon. As well as bullpen rookies Hansen and DelCarmen. Wakefield carried the pitching staff and was purely the Ace of 2005, if not for lack of run support and mirabelli getting hurt in May, Wake couldve been a 20+ game winner which would make him one of the top candidates to be the AL Cy Young. Theo was able to acquire during the season: the likes of John Olerud, Chad Bradford, Tony Graffanino (still my guy), and solid D backup Alex Cora. so many more good moments to think about as well And before bed, I put in the dvd player, game 4 last october, reminding me to never give up my faith. And thats all you can do, keep the faith...
