  1. i do enjoy listening to don orsillo and jerry remy each game. they do the play by plays, bring comedy especially when things arent going right for Boston (helps somewhat soften the blow of whats happening). Would you rather have the yankee-loving geezer Tim McCarver, who thinks whatever he says is funny, while I sit with a confused look. I'll take Don's "that ball is up, that ball is gone!!" anyday over assinine quotes like "Seee Ya"---"He Gone"---and the most dreaded of them all "And you can put that one on the booooaaard, Yes!!"
  2. as far as we know, Wade Miller will not be back in 2006
  3. Watch, sox will keep us on the edge of our seats and probably not even announce a new 1st baseman until the end of the year -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- look for the yankees to be competition in the 1st baseman market. Plans are to shift Giambi as a full time DH considering his lack of defense he has exhibited this season.
  4. red sox would never trade within their own division, especially the runs producer that manny is. if anybody, it would be with the mets. but seriously i dont think any trade will happen anyway
  5. yeaah one problem, so sox would give arizona clement and arroyo, a package deal worth under $20 million and Sox would get in return a player worth just $325,000?? clearly Arizona would have to give up more to break even even if it would be just an arroyo for tracy deal, id expect more from arizona like relief pitcher Jose Valverde, 26 years old, who for last 16 innings of relief gave up no ER. and also does his share of strikesouts compared to innings, 75 in 66.1 innings. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7151
  6. ESPN's Cold Pizza has just reported that Bruschi is possibly returning to practice in a few weeks from now
  7. Adam Stern can't be dealt just yet, as part of being a rule 5 draft player, he must play at least 90 days with the Red Sox. He appeared in 36 games in his debut season in the MLB, so I expect to see him back as the 4th outfielder this spring untouchables: Jon Lester, Anibel Sanchez (could be dealt), Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, Brandon Moss (could be in line to take right field in 2007 if sox let Trot walk that season), Craig Hansen, Manny DelCarmen (perfect guy to fill in Timlin's shoes), Clay Bucholz, Jacoby Ellisbury (great possibility of future center fielder)
  8. They cant let Trot walk (1) He's under contract at $8 million for 2006 (2) He had put up double the offensive numbers of what was done in 2004, with offseason surgery im sure he'll be back to 2003 form
  9. he'll be a sight for sore eyes from what we had to see with millar giving up extra bases when he played the outfield
  10. what would you have to say about the speculationsthat with Tom Gordon entering free agency, talks he could be thinking about recalling Fenway Park his home for a 1 or 2 season contract?
  11. like yankeessuck said, its funny you talk like this, every post you have done is all about soriano. Tracy will 100% likely sign back with the Diamondbacks as they plan on him playing the outfield. Milwaukee and Tampa Bay are more viable candidates to pull a trade deal. Another plus of having Huff, he is a .304 hitter against the Yankees and bats .308 at Yankee Stadium.
  12. exactly i had looked up McGriff's stats, Aubrey Huff has been with the D-Rays since his career started in 2001. McGriff became a D-Ray when he was 35 1986 - 1990: Blue Jays 1991 - 1993: Padres 1993 - 1997: Braves 1998 - 2001: Devil Rays 2001 - 2002: Cubs (he actually did quite well with the cubs in 1.5 seasons belting 42 HRs and driving in 144 RBIs) 2003: Dodgers 2004: Devil Rays
  13. i didnt even suggest there would be such a trade. I said if Manny is indeed traded, most likely to the Mets. The Sox would push hard for Padres' Brian Giles who is arbitration eligible this offseason.
  14. well its just Bronson Arroyo could be ace but it doesnt really have to do with run support, he has problems with consistency. In 2005 he had 7 starts where he gave up 6 ER or more (6 of those starts, 7 ER) 6 starts he had lasted 5 innings or less well of course Aubrey Huff hasnt proved himself out of Tropican Field, because thats where he has played his career, it doesnt mean he will give us a "2005 Millar" D-Rays owe Huff $6.75 million for 2005, which means they would require lil bit more than Abe Alvarez I see Papelbon taking Arroyo's slot in the rotation, and giving DiNardo the long man relief role in the pen could very well help strengthen the staff.
  15. oh sure olerud will be back, but just as a backup. olerud's legs arent what they used to be, reducing his speed on the basepaths and such, plus he will be 38 next spring. its not like Huff hits like Millar did this season. Huff has proved he can have seasons of 25+ HRs and 90+ RBIs
  16. Aubrey Huff has made 11 errors when playing 1st base in 149 games 38 errors when playing 3rd base in 223 games 9 errors when playing RF in 200 games the consensus from all analysts and reports from the Sox F.O., he is their main target to acquire for 1st bas
  17. lets just say Manny trade is in fact done. Sox will most likely push hard for Brian Giles
  18. if shoppach deal is done look for a 3rd team along with the red sox and rockies to make a deal happen lets just say its Tampa Bay: Boston: Aubrey Huff, rockies reliever Ryan Spier or Brian Fuentes (or see if any good prospects Rockies have for exchange) Tampa Bay: rockies prospect, Bronson Arroyo Colorado: Kelly Shoppach, 1 or 2 D-Rays prospects ----------- Brian Fuentes is coming off of a great year with a 2.91 ERA in 74 appearances. Plus easily brought the gas to batters, 91 K's in 74.1 innings
  19. im praying for sox to keep manny. he ended this seaon with avg just under 300, 45 HRs (3 grand slams), and 145 RBIs. Him and Ortiz proved again to be the most lethal 3-4 punch, combining for 92 HRs and 193 RBIs. His defense is still valuable to the Sox as he led all outfielders in 2005 with 17 outfield assists. if sox were to trade with mets for one of their outfielders: there's Mike Cameron who could be injury pron from that collision and is nowhere near of a power hittter with a career .249 avg, Cliff Floyd would be good option but him and Red Sox left on bad notes, Beltran is looking like an overhyped player and who like Manny has a big contract on his belt.
