  1. at the time renterria was signed, hanley was experimenting mostly in center field--the course of this season he had shifted over to 2nd base than shortstop
  2. yeah but nomar was traded away at the time his power numbers had greatly reduced, became injury prone, etc. theo is 100% valuable when he had just walked away
  3. i still think a plus is taken for the jets from this other tough loss. Brooks Bollinger is proving well enough that he should be the starting QB, not Testaverde
  4. today's most uplifting game has been the incredible come from behind win of the chiefs over the raiders, 27-23. Trent Green had done the "Tom Brady"-like 4th quarter touchdown drive with 1:30 left on the clock. Even more inspiring he had on his mind of that he buried his father last week who was just 58 years old. Just the emotions of seeing him on the sidelines embracing with his team of this great win for his father had really got to me. Way to go Green, i know he was rooting for you up in heaven.
  5. David Wells on board for 2006 is risky somewhat, dont forget his knees are starting to get banged up. a surgery this offseason might just be a minor fix with the age that he is. if the Sox do indeed start up a trade with the Angels that includes Ervin Santana, this rotation will be sure to orchestrate the season in the right direction Curt Schilling Tim Wakefield Jonathan Papelbon Matt Clement Ervin Santana
  6. 11/6 1:00 ET At Minnesota PK Detroit 11/6 1:00 ET San Diego -6.5 At NY Jets 11/6 1:00 ET At Cleveland -3 Tennessee 11/6 1:00 ET At Kansas City -4.5 Oakland 11/6 4:05 ET Chicago -3 At New Orleans 11/6 1:00 ET Cincinnati -3 At Baltimore 11/6 1:00 ET Carolina -1.5 At Tampa Bay 11/6 1:00 ET At Jacksonville -13 Houston 11/6 1:00 ET Atlanta -2.5 At Miami 11/6 4:05 ET NY Giants -11 At San Francisco (Giants becoming my NFC favorite) 11/6 4:05 ET Seattle -4 At Arizona 11/6 4:15 ET Pittsburgh -3.5 At Green Bay 11/6 8:35 ET At Washington -3 Philadelphia (McNabb is hurtin' and that loud mouthed, greedy, trash talking TO is finally being punished by the Eagles) Monday Night Football Point Spread 11/7 9:05 ET Indianapolis -3.5 At New England (can never pick against my boys, defense starting to make turnovers, bruschi is back. Belichick and everything foxboro always seems to get into payton's head. maybe it can snow haha)
  7. hey schillingisnatural, here is a stat you will like and get people on here to see Erstad would be a productive hitter for Fenway. Im for Erstad becoming part of Red Sox Nation. pluses of having Erstad base running skills, capable of 20+ stolen bases 33 career games played in Boston has a .302 batting avg 29 errors from 1997 to 2005 covering 1st base and outfield positions, which relates to a .996 fielding % in 1283 games. you mean millar was a better hitter, his stats will just continue to slide.
  8. just a side note. i was browsing through yahoo sports and came upon this pic of busch stadium which is already in the process of being torn down. And to think just a year ago on a night when there was a total eclipse, the Sox were celebrating on this field.
  9. he's obviosuly not a red sox fan who signed Ortiz after he was cut from the Twins? Theo who was able to convince Schilling to come to boston? Theo who signed Keith Foulke, big part of the 04 playoffs? Theo who drafted the likes of Papelbon, set to become a big part of the rotation? Theo 2004 season alone getting and cutting the players that needed be, set the team in motion
  10. this guy sounds like he'd be a good fit. He has a good knowledge of maintaining the farm system which would be a big plus here.
  11. I really dont think trading hanley is at all in the cards. Hanley is one of the Sox's untouchables along with Papelbon, DelCarmen, Lester, Hansen, Bucholz, Ellisbury. Im sure there are others as well. My thoughts is that he is set to eventually take the shortstop position, but he is also capable of playing the outfield so center is an option as well.
  12. yes we all realize that. But I dont think you realize Wells has requested a trade to a team on the West because he's grown tired of being in Boston, particularyly a portion of the Sox fans. Myself and others included would like our players to be comfortable with Boston and be able to handle one of the biggest fanbases. As well as happy to play for the Red Sox. If he doesnt like Boston and being "hassled" by Red Sox Nation, fine here's another team and thanks for the 05 season A benefit of having Erstad is that in his 7/8 year career he has just made 29 errors total on the field. And Unlike Millar, he's got speed on the basepaths. Adding Santana, you're just looking at it from the money point of view. Him and Papelbon joining the rotation could give the Sox a boost and not really have to rely on the offense scoring a lot of runs. Look at how Chicago had done so. The Brewers would take a Arroyo for Overbay in a trade deal, they kinda need starting pitching. Fine Sox can send them like alvarez and a lesser known prospect.
  13. no logic or merit. im talking about health risks dude Ortiz was not a even risk type situation. Ortiz was in the beginning really signed to be the primarily DH and 1st base backup to Millar and he was 100% healthy. Sox would be siging Durazo who has never ever played a full season at 1st base, would have to wait until the All Star break or even later for Durazo to actually return from surgery and rehab. Even after which, he could not be able to regain his swing; even begin to fall upon injuries.
  14. Julio Franco? Yes he was a good player in his day. The man will be 48 next season, which means an injury would be waiting to happen. Im still not sold on Erubiel Durazo, as a Dh he will deliver great offense. But defense? Past 3 seasons he has played a total of 38 games. And still him coming back at the all-star break is an estimated guess, and whose to say he will return to his hitting form after the surgery? Id rather have on the safe side, Sox not risk it and go for a healthier alternative. They took on a risk on Wade Miller who had a delayed debut and look how that had played out.
  15. could theo's new job have people call him "Mr. President"?
  16. damn I hope this isnt true. According to the NY Post, one of the center fielders the Yankees are setting their sights is none other but Milton Bradley. The Yankees go from a well respected player in Bernie to a controversial ******* in Bradley. Bradley and Sheffield would sure make one enraged outfield duo. I bet anything the boo-birds will already be set at the Fens to sing in unasyn, for specifically reasons other than being a yankee.
  17. oh no his wife wont be happy if she saw i said this? Tough s***, its the truth. Dude cmon the guy was traded away twice this past season, hence a player teams didnt want to keep around and the fact that he was left off of the postseason roster bodes he's not significant. I didnt hear an outcry from the yankee fans when he wasnt listed on the roster against the Angels. Significant means a major effect or importance, does that honestly describe Lawton
  18. sorry about that "yankeessuck", i didnt realize you had put up the same post--my bad
  19. Ortiz just in 2005 has won a plaque that reads Most Clutch Hitter in Red Sox History; AL Hank Aaron; DH Silver Slugger; and now AL Oustanding Player. With 4 season awards notched... could MVP honors be awaiting him on November 14?
  20. um dude, not exactly. Lawton didnt even make the postseason roster. Here is a quote that doesnt even reflect what Matt Lawton was sorry but certainly not a player much people would care about.
  21. not exactly, lawton didnt make the playoffs roster.
  22. yes manny to los angeles, as in the angels.
  23. i whole-heartedly agree, i mean cmon the phillies even out rank us. i just got this feeling the Sox in 2006 shouldnt be underestimated. whose to say boston will have mediocre pitching for 2006?? if anything the bullpen will be stronger than 2005 and this guy is talking as if Jonathan papelbon hasnt ever been in the majors yet. Paps proved how valuable he can be as a starter or a setup man, and took the playoff push in stride with a 1.49 ERA in September and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings againt the white sox in the ALDS. plus its still too early to make projections as the offseason has just begun
