  1. they need serious help with their starting rotation, Castilla is an aging 3rd baseman whose probably already seen his best years go by
  2. its official, patriots think they are on vacation
  3. Konerko is far fetched for coming to Boston, but still the Sox have been talking to his agent. Id like it more if Manny stays 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Paul Konerko
  4. this should be up to date http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=bos
  5. yes some are saying sox are setting up for the best rotation in the AL of next season, how is that more bad than people actually predicting the 2005 yankees would be one of the the greatest pitching rotations of all time? Yes just because we're having good thoughts about 2006, that predicts a losing season. I like that logic. Boo-friggin-who. If you dont like us talking like this, go to the YES boards or someplace else.
  6. a surpus of possible offseason moves according to Boston.com
  7. I dont have any bad feelings about lowell next year as well, he already bodes a .300 batting avg at Fenway Park in 9 games played there. 2005 spray chart had shown majority of balls he had hit went to left field, he said in an interview most became outfield pop ups or caught on the warning track, and this happened in the biggest pitcher's park in baseball. If balls carried that far, think about those hits in Fenway early 2006 proj. .290 avg, 20-25 HR/85-95 RBI
  8. big no on taking kaz matsui
  9. Another plus of having Overbay, he tends to hit well with the bases loaded: .346 avg, including 2 grand slams
  10. thanks for the info -------------- oh josh i think you are dilluted on this one, haha. In a conference call with the media he had said he hopes that Kevin Millar will be back with the Sox next season. um sorry im gonna have to give a big emphatic no on that
  11. anybody know when the press conference will be of beckett, lowell and Mota getting their red sox jerseys and hats? i was just wondering because Rowand had his yesterday with the Phillies.
  12. hey yankee fans, good news for you guys. the yankees home opening series is basically a gimme series sweep, the tough Royals
  13. He should dominate at the Rogers Centre, in 18 games pitched there he has a 1.65 ERA
  14. mlb.com's predictions for our newly acquired players
  15. um ok, didnt they still trade away 2 top pitching prospects with rowand? My point of view the Phillies got the best of the trade
  16. wow damn i didnt expect this, an upgrade to our bullpen to say the least though his past couple of seasons with Florida had ERA's of under 5. What does anybody else think to swing Mota with Wells to San Diego, which could insure getting Akinori Otsuka. Im high on getting him. Though, Id still be happy either way. ------------------------------ Josh Beckett commenting on becoming a Red Sox--"It's an exciting time getting to go to Boston to play," said Beckett, who organized a conference call with the Marlins beat writers immediately after being notified of the trade. "I had a Boston hat growing up and I'm from Texas." his idol just so happens to be Roger Clemens, he of course adorned the #21 on his Marlins jersey.
  17. Im wary of Wade Miller, this offseason surgery he will have, it will keep him out until May/June. I dont think the Sox would play the waiting game for him again. He's a big question mark
  18. damn dude again you guys are all going under assumption that exactly what happened in 2005 will happen in 2006. I guess you guys dont pay attention that Lowell's home will now be a hitter's park with the green monster to the left him, IMO he's a dead pull right handed-hitter. He had 38 doubles this stadium and he called Dolphin Stadium his home, which is kind of a pitcher's park. Again, god this stupid frigging argument "oh duh beckett is going to go on the DL again." Each season the blisters have lessened on him, hmm. Each season he appears in more games and more innings pitched. Hmm, do you see something going on there? Blisters have really just been the biggest problem that will get better. We are not talking about bad knees here or a bad back, blisters can be corrected. He's now got a better medical staff than the Marlins do.
  19. damn go Cubs. so far one week into the offseason have acquired what will be their setup man to lead to closer ryan dempster in the forms of Scott Eyre and Bob Howry. And now Juan Pierre
  20. good to hear that Beckett and Lowell are both up and ready to come to Boston. Red Sox Nation welcomes you
  21. Im liking the Cubs bullpen so far Set Up Men- Scott Eyre Bob Howry Closer- Ryan Dempster my favorite to get the NL wild card in 2006, by that time it will be 98 years and they need to put that misery away especially now that the white sox have ended their droughts.
  22. I think Boston will end up doing that trade for Adrian Gonzalez, rangers getting Kelly Shoppach. This deal is also probably to clean up Sox's image after the Rockies' debacle that had happened this past summer. Gonzalez was a solid .300 hitting lefty in Triple A and is blocked by Texeira. Wells is still deemed to go to San Diego, in return for dave Roberts and hopefully top reliever Akinori Otsuka. the sox might have to throw in an Abe Alvarez or Adam Stern to assure Otsuka coming over. just before yankee fans start saying thats a lot of prospects being given up. Kelly Shoppach, Abe Alvarez, and Aam Stern arent really looking like they are in the long term plans for Boston. --Kelly Shoppach is major league ready, but would be a waste for him to wait until Varitek's contract is over after 2008. --With the pending trade to get Roberts, that puts Stern out of the realm of possibility. And Sox cant start Stern in Triple A since he's a rule draft 5 guy. --Abe Alvarez, with Sox have Manny and Hansen waiting in the wings. That makes him an odd man out of making the majors with Boston.
  23. Pavano? I'm sure you mean vazquez
  24. this doesnt necessarily mean Konerko is out of the team. With White Sox not picking up Frank Thomas' option, Jim Thome could simply be their new full-time DH and backup 1st baseman.
  25. whoah damn I didnt see this trade coming. I was sure it would be Thome to the Twins or Orioles as their DH.
