  1. oh believe me I think he will be your backup catcher. He was RJ's personal catcher in Arizona so goodbye Flaherty and hello to Stinnett. I guess Randy has no love for Posada. Haha Stinnett is one fuggily guy, if you dont mind me saying so.
  2. yeah I was expecting this.
  3. yes but it also says Tom Gordon would know he'd have a shot of closing for the Red Sox surrounding the uncertainty of Foulke for 2006
  4. ooh damn yeah this would be big for the Sox bullpen. This wont make the Yankees FO very happy since reports were last night that the Yankees are close to signing Farnsworth.
  5. Papa Jack would really have his hands full on trying to teach Soriano something called plate presence. He averages under 40 walks a season. That rotation would be sick in 2007: a younger hard throwing rotation that includes Beckett, Zito, Papelbon, Lester and Wake/Schil. Salivating here of the thought -------------------------------------------------------
  6. dude wow sorry for not wording it right for you
  7. an opening day starter meaning as a part of the roster in 2007.
  8. exactly Lester is looking like the real deal, barring anything happening he will make his major league debut in the 2nd half of 2006. Is also a lock so far to be a part of the 2007 rotation.
  9. Big no on trading Papelbon away, this kid is projected to be a longtime Red Sox pitcher and he proved his worth this past season
  10. All the big deals that have gone down from last week to this week, I have seen the press conferences of players getting their new team jerseys and hats. Why not yet Beckett, Lowell and Mota? What can I say, im getting impatient to see that -------------------------------- What I felt, turned out to be right. Wakefield had a 1.99 ERA in 5 starts in September
  11. Nady and Diaz pale no comparison to Floyd. Those 2 are career utility fielders. Floyd as this past season can be able to hit 30+ HRs and around 100 RBIs
  12. Cliff Floyd is a possibility considering for some reason this past week the Mets have traded for Tike Redman, who is a career utility outfielder at best. I hadnt thought of him before in a trade. He can hit for power and drive in runs. As some of you may know Floyd was a Red Sox for half of the 2002 season, hitting .316 with them.
  13. well actually its been Theo's choice since beginning of last season to have Pedroia as the starting 2nd baseman. You are not the only one who is becoming skeptical of the idea. The Boston Globe has reported several times now that resigning Tony G is still possible or even bringing over veteran Mark Grudzelanik who is now a free agent. ---------------------- other Sox-related news
  14. dude omg its money that can be freed up to help sign free agents. thats not spending less money, thats freeing up moeny that can be used elsewhere for better purposes. IMO Clement does not have a long shelf life with Boston
  15. Who said anything about spending less money? extra money can be freed up as in to help IMO signing free agents such as Johnny Damon
  16. I watched the whole game ok, and Im sorry but offense and the defense of the Steelers was sputtering, not as bad as the Pats game but they were definitely sputtering. 17 of 26 yes, but mostly done on screen passes for a grand total of 133 yards, I picked them to win oh please so dont go calling me a "Steelers hater". How did he have the better night than Payton? Payton unlike Ben had a fall back plan if he had seemed rattled to hand the ball to Mr James who rushed for 125 yards or so TDs Payton 2 Ben 1 INTs Payton 1 Ben 2 Yards Payton 245 Ben 133
  17. wow thanks SFOC man Ben Rothelisberger was just plain brutal in last night's game. So many screen passes where his guys were already covered. He barely tried anything deep.
  18. Same can be said for Clement's slider from July to October was going all over the place. He was at top of the list with Arroyo in hit batters and was bruising up Varitek and Mirabelli because he became so inconsistent. Wild pitches abound. Clement also is owed around $18 million, extra money that can be freed up. Unlike Clement, Arroyo can be utilized out of the bullpen as a long innings reliever
  19. Lets see 5 years to BJ Ryan at $47 million... 5 year off to AJ Burnett at $50 million... and now a 5 year offer to Brian Giles at $55 million? Blue Jays I know you got money now, but I think its gone to your head
  20. I think Clement's playoff start against Chicago couldve been the straw that broke the camel's back for the Sox FO. Thats how it was with me anyway. If he does come back, he'll be on a short leash no doubt.
  21. I dont know why the hell Beattie is leading the GM list. Where did the Expos go with him as the General Manager?? Nowhere. The Orioles?? Nowhere. He lacks the knowledge of what players are best suited to be on the team. Sydney Ponson turned out to be a stubbling drunk who was released by the team after getting arrested again which was for drunk driving, Rafael Pameiro well we know what happened, then the trade for has-been Sammy Sosa. Like "CityofChampions" had said, I would be perfectly fine with this season being managed by a GM by Committee or one of the guys from within being promoted.
  22. If you dont know yet, Clement and Arroyo are still deemed as trade-able
  23. the only thing Im not all for is Xavier Nad. He doesnt hit for much power and seriously lacks plate patience. 22 walks total in 124 games played this past season ammounts to ugh. Simply put, Nady is a career bench player at best. Im sure Sox would pick Youk over Nady as starting 1st baseman, against left and right handed pitchers. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6610/career According to Gordon Edes, it is said Alejandro Machado is being eyed to have a shot in spring training to make a bid as one of the utility men. He is useful in a number of ways as he showed can have some pop in his bat, choice pinch runner, and can play all outfield and infield positions.
