On WEEI, they indicated the contract signing of 3 years could make him more enticing for teams to trade with Boston. If thats not the reason, still good to lock him down. He had led the team this past season in quality starts, and is effective when he is used as a reliever

There havent been really any demands that we know of for pedroia, so no worries there. -
A potentially good signing by the D-Rays, I was hoping for Sox to buy the rights to negotiate with him. Intrigued on how he will make the transition.

I just hope that they dont end up trading him during spring training as previously reported. He's very valuable to this team, even if its as a utility guy. Hell, he could be the right handed hitting 4th outfielder to compliment Trot when there are left-handed starting pitchers.

total frigging shock, sox were said to not have a shot at all. This improves the depth of our bullpen. last year's opening day bullpen John Halamma Blaine Neal Matt Mantei Alan Embree Mike Timlin Keith Foulke only one of those, our boy Timlin, actually had a productive season. -
good read by MLB.com, but they made an error on who was the saves leader. Foulke still led the staff in 15 saves. Timlin converted 13, not 20

eh, no offense "example", but Reed has yet to shown he can bat leadoff. Considering the biggest fact, has never led off before in his career. As well as he's gotta prove that he can sustain an OBP a #1 batter is known for having, especially in Boston's case. It would be most suitable according to stats to bat him 6th. In 44 games batting that position he had hit .321 with a .387 OBP

what is certain: Youk and Loretta will help fill the void left by Damon and Renterria. That being, 2 players certainly capable of getting on base before the best 1-2 punch in baseball. Expect 90+ Runs scored season for the both of them.

Rice denied again, I think he doesnt have that much time left to be considered into the hall of the fame. he ranked at second in voting. The sole pick was closer Bruce Sutter Thats right, one pick. Last year there was 2 nominees selected, in Ryne Sandberg and Wade Boggs. im perplexed to say the least.

very funny, but didnt they the next day call out the Texas Rangers for resting their starters during the game against the Angels. If the Yankees wanted to have homefield advantage they wouldve tried, Id think they would do it theirselves instead of relying on someone else to do it. I knew it was a loss once they threw Jaret Wright into the fire to start against Boston.

Nope but hey its still possible for Beckett to win 14-18 wins with the offense the Sox will have, Manny/Papi combo still heart of the order. Im predicting this year could be the season he will pitch over 200 innings, at the most 210-ish. Im not expecting an ERA of around 3, moreso 3.95-4.20 About Schilling, we know he probably wont ever be back to his 2004 level. But he is sure to have a rebound from 05. He did have decent starts down the stretch, 2 of which came againts your boys
