  1. Sox minor league catcher Mark Wagner has been having a productive season in single A, opposed to his otherwise lackluster short debut in Lowell. He's been named a South Atlantic League All-Star this season. Not saying he'll keep it up to be our next catcher, but he's someone Im gonna keep my eye on. http://soxprospects.com/players/images/wagner.mark.jpg Age: 22 Born: June 11, 1984 Hometown: Lakewood, CA Height: 6-1 Weight: 205 Bats: Right Throws: Right Drafted: 9th round, 2005 How Acquired: Draft College: UC-Irvine High School: Mayfair HS (CA) ETA: 2008 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2005 (Lowell), 24 games- .203 avg, .309 obp, 2 Doubles, 1 Triple, 6 RBIs, 1 SB 2006 (Greenville), 42 games- .311 avg, .365 obp, 13 Doubles, 1 Triple, 5 HRs, 29 RBIs
  2. Hat trick Mirabelli will be playing tonight's game to keep Varitek all together ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. Thanks jsing for putting the batter vs pitcher matchups in last nights game thread. Keep this mojo going Last nights game was a great one, me and my friends course stayed the whole way through. It was a thrill sitting in the rain as it came down harder and the game got oh so closer than it should have been. Wake was his usual self, giving his heart & soul but saw another win not go towards his record. That 4-7 record is the most skewed in the American League. I laugh at those who wrote Trot off for this season, a dirt dog who always tries to give it his all. How about that clutch 2 out HR & hit to get manny to 3rd in the 8th inning? .346 with RISP/2 outs .357 with bases loaded (15 RBIs) Yes Papelbon blew his first save but that gave fire in his belly and it was obvious right away that Texas would have no chance of coming back. Struck out the side, all swinging!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2 lefty rookies facing one another. No indications of which way this one can go. Rheinecker has been very effective in his first 3 major league starts, sporting a 1.77 ERA (4 Runs in 20.1 innings)
  4. Choke jobber with sub-par defense, Alex Rodriguez-- $25 million Supposed to be ace of yankees staff, Randy Johnson-- $18 million Seeing them underperform under the Yankee Stadium lights-- priceless
  5. gotta figure what the Sox gave up for Beckett-- Sanchez, Ramirez, and 2 top single A prospects Now Willis last season just finished top 3 of the voting last year in the Cy Young category, the Marlins are going to be asking for way more than a straight up trade
  6. he's been on rest for 6 days now, he doesnt need too much rest in between outings
  7. old pal Arroyo beat the Cubs, final score 7-1 7 innings, 5 Hits, 1 Run, 3 Ks His season record now stands at 8-2 with a 2.31 ERA and has struck out 68 batters. The guy has more wins than Pedro
  8. ah Loretta no, that late april funk is creeping back. knock on wood 0 for 5 tonight This month in 5 games now 2 for 22 (.091 avg) no extra base hits, no RBIs, no runs
  9. make that 11 errors for the gold glover a-rod
  10. 5 hits, 1 Walk 5 men left on base thru 5
  11. ok tek came this close to his 4th GIDP in the last 2 games!!
  12. 3 double plays grounded into the last 2 games by the 2006 "all-star" Varitek
  13. Hes had around 80 minor league starts in 4 years. And its been known for awhile now that he was likely to get called up sometime this season.
  14. That would be correct. And great news to hear that Lester will still be making his major league debut this week  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15. That along with Bellhorn & Alan Embree.
  16. my AL votes catcher- Joe Mauer 1st base- David Ortiz 2nd base- Mark Loretta shortstop- Derek Jeter (ugh, thats right I voted for a Yankee) 3rd base- Mike Lowell left field- Manny center field- Vernon Wells right field- Vladimir Guerrero
  17. Shouldnt Ortiz's power numbers this year say All-Star? The All-Star game voting by the fans is not based on defense, its all about who can put up the better power numbers. Maybe 17 HRs/51 RBIs through the first 2 months is good. Its a National League ballpark so of course guys like Ortiz & Thome are going to be put in 1st base ballot.
  18. Oh right thats why they had the Pawtucket team change up their rotation so Lester could be in line to start one of the DH's against Texas
  19. Clement cant fill 2 rotation spots, let alone his own spot right now. We need all the help that we can get. Sorry it bursts your bubble that good percentage of the Sox posters here actually see Lester as a good prospect. Pauley might not have all the experience, but unlike Clement, he didnt crap the bed when he had to face the Yankees.
  20. Great news Jsinger, something Ive been hoping for  Any news if Josh's twin Jeremy, also a pitcher, was taken in the draft or is waiting another year instead?
  21. Only if Sox could just release or place Clement on waivers, then Lester & Pauley can both stay up here If Lester shows anything like he has in the minors, then he would be the overwhelming choice over Pauley to take the vacant rotation spot
  22. If a game tomorrow is played, the Yankees could skip Jaret Wright to get... Schilling vs Johnson
  23. I wouldnt mind seeing Lowell backup Manny. Youk yes, but he's going to solidify the bottom of the order and might return to leadoff if the Sox feel that is whats best
  24. Tito heres some useful info, Seanez in close games is not always a good idea
