Boston Globe
Today Van Buren will be sent down again. Its hard to gauge on what he could be able to do up here because he hasnt had the chance to pitch consistently in the majors. He'll probably be back for good for the rest of the season on Sept 1. Lefty Javy Lopez will take his place
Kason Gabbard was scratched from his start in Pawtucket and is set to take the mound against the Angels on Tuesday. Javier Lopez will probably the be the one sent back to Pawtucket
Terry is holding back from his Aug 27 prediction of Wake's return as he is still feeling back stiffness. A side session will be done on Monday to determine if he's ready or not.
2 different situations
Pena was picked up in March as a platoon with Trot for this year and then to become the future right fielder. Also at that time, the rotation was actually healthy
Hinske was picked up just now to help solidify the bench, a strong lefty bat who can play across the field just about. This move also ensures Trot could be wearing a new uniform. Both of these moves werent made as rentals for this season
Loretta doesnt have an option year on him, he will be officially a free agent. 2006 was his option year as part of his contract with the Padres.
Toronto would want more than Loretta packaged with Crisp or Pena for Wells, considering they are dealing with Boston.
As for Seanez... everyone on here was nervous about his signing from day 1. Just looking at his past stats in the AL (including Boston) I got nervous right away
Beckett's ERA has shot up to 5.35. With his 9 walks today, he now has 59 on the season (setting another bad career high)
Holding out hope 2007 will be his breakout season with Boston
What good omens have there been that the Sox will at least win the wild card?
Schilling & Wells stand as the only current reliable starters
Papelbon is the only good reliever out of the pen
6-12 in August
16-19 since All-Star Break
3 game losing streak to NY... at Fenway Park to a tune of being outscored 39-20
Theyre just a dead bird falling from the sky, only a miracle coupled with threats can save them from ending the season like how they are currently playing
9 walks
Tito has just been Grady Little in game 7 of 2003 this year
Duhhh he's good for another battter, another batter, ah crap you think I should pull him?
Ok you failed to mention how it would actually be a $20 million plus investment into him, taking away space where they could go for what the team really is in need of... pitching
Goodbye Clement (i dont care his contract is $10 million, Sox must/will get rid of this hack), Wells (ending a HOF career), Timlin (age 40, pitching like '05 Embree now), Foulke (mental state/? not worth hassle or $$), Seanez (enough said), Johnson (he's now in the witness protection program), Snyder (maybe a bad team like the Royals could take a chance... oh wait)
As of now there wont be that much acticity in the offense dept, unless Sox do go hard after Julio Lugo
Before tonight, Timlin had already been scuffling to a tune of 13 runs of his last 11 innings
Jon Lester has also been scuffling since the All-Star break, being burned out and not being able to handle the pressure that is Boston atmosphere in his rookie season.
Oh wowww you beat us with Jason Johnson on the mound. Everyone knew including Sox fans that game 1 was going to be a loss
He's signed through next season
This basically ensures so far that the 2007 outfield has Manny, Coco, Wily Mo Pena, & Eric Hinske who can play across the outfield
Add that Hinske bats left-handed, this deal has dropped significantly any chances of acquiring Trot
