  1. I love the idea of outdoor hockey. I don't attend any hockey games ever, but if the Avalanche and Red Wings ever played in Invesco... I'd sure as hell try and get to that one!
  2. Put any player in Plummer's situation in Arizona and they struggle. Like I said, when he has a mindset that he needs to make plays for his team to win, he'll make mistakes. I don't think it's a coincidence that the year Shanahan sits him down and talks to him about it is the year he makes the Pro Bowl and goes 8 or so straight games without a pick.
  3. They would be because Jake Plummer is one of the best QB's in the league when he learns to trust his running game and understands that he doesn't have to make all the big plays. When the running game was ineffective, you saw jake Plummer make two very bad throws which were very uncharacteristic of him this year. Both were interceptions. Looking back at that game, the Broncos had a chance to win that game without those INT's. They have to A. get the running game going in the playoffs or B. get T.O., and suddenly the combo of Owens, Smith, and Lelie could make teams pay for making Plummer beat them.
  4. No, but the tandem of Ricky Williams and Tatum Bell is a huuuge improvement over the already good duo of Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell.
  5. There's a difference, John Elway got to Super Bowl's. He'd proven he could make the plays to win a big game. 'The Drive' for example.
  6. The system turns average backs, and don't forget about the full backs, into some of the best in the league. You don't think a guy who once rushed for 1853 yards and was considered a premier NFL back would make a difference?
  7. Madden will be on NBC doing Sunday Night Football.
  8. If the Terrell Owens or Ricky Williams come to Denver, you'll be fighting for the right to lose to the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.
  9. He does. Dicky V is great. He was even giving a ton of love to Adam Morrison! When UConn plays, I hear it non-stop about Gay, so I don't see a problem.
  10. I'm saying in terms of the voting -- not that it matters, though.
  11. Nah, he gives my Huskies respect by saying they're the best in the country.
  12. Yeah, they're Duke, though. After UConn throttled Indiana (the game wasn't as close as the score indicated) and Duke has struggled, the Huskies should be a fairly unanimous #1.
  13. Duke survives. The more I see them play, particularly after the BC, FSU, and UNC games, the less I'm worried about possibly having to play them, eventually.
  14. Ooh boy, a 5 point game with Dockery on the line with about 40 seconds left has turned into a 1 point deficit for UNC with 26.3 left. Some potentially costly mistakes by Dockery and Reddick. You have to deny Reddick the ball if you're UNC.
  15. What a game between Duke and UNC. Duke had it up to a 17 point lead in the second (maybe higher, I've been flipping back and forth between the game and Cheap Seats), but as I type this, UNC has stormed back and taken a 5 point lead. 3 Pointer by Reddick, UNC by 2.
  16. Yeah, they come out and defend the referees all the time. Add to that the reaction, the fact that it was Super Bowl, and Mike Holmgren practically said there was a conspiracy against his team, I'm not going to buy into this either way. I only posted because people were curious as to what the NFL's reaction would be.
  17. The NFL has come out and defended the Super Bowl Officiating Crew... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs05/news/story?id=2322687
  18. You still have this crazy idea in your head that the officials make calls with the benefit of slow motion from 4 feet away from the play. Bad call? Yes. Worst ever? Hardly.
  19. Yep, thanks a bunch.
  20. In the post of yours that I quoted... I underlined and made them red now, too. Just check out my last post before this one. It's probably something that's going to make me feel very stupid for not realizing.
  21. True, but the guy's calling the play in full speed from 20 feet away. It's not an easy call to make. As for him running up with his hand up, I saw that, and was confused about that from the very start. I don't know. Like I said, I don't think it was a TD, and it was a bad call, but I think people acting as though we just witnessed the worst officiated game ever are wrong.
  22. All the numbers I bolded... what do they mean?
  23. 150,000,000 people have the benefit of slow motion instant replay. There was no conclusive evidence to say that it was not a TD -- therefore it was not overturnable. I agree that he wasn't in, but I can't say that I'm anywhere close to 100% certain. As for the pushoff. Any time -- I repeat... ANY TIME -- a WR extends his arm towards the defender, it will be a penalty. Particularly when it's done right in front of the official.
  24. Perhaps rather than complaining about calls, you should worry about how you let Madden make up your mind for you. It was a dangerous, dangerous play. Rather than put his shoulder pad into the knee of the guy running with the ball, he dove in a way that the defender would trip on him and he'd take out the knee of the guy running beside him for blocking purposes. Referees will NEVER call a delay of game AS the clock turns to zero. They ALWAYS give small amount of time to snap the ball or call the time out because they have to look at the clock, and then look at the ball. They gave Big Ben no more time than they usually do. Darrell Jackson extended his arm towards the defender. I don't see how you can argue this call. It will be called EVERY SINGLE TIME when you do it right in front of the referee in the NFL. If it's the play I think it was... he was choking him!
  25. That weren't really that many bad calls. What were the other huge calls that decided this game other than the Roethlisberger TD?
