    Can't disagree with you here. Give Michael Bowden a start against this half-clown team the Yankees are putting out there. Or, as you said, Tazawa. Aceves. Hell, even Matt Albers used to be a starter.

    Honestly, though, would any of these things save his job in your eyes? If Tazawa comes in and gets destroyed you might praise tito for trying something new, but you would be calling for his head nonetheless. Don't think Bard is realistic.

    This pretty much epitomizes what it must be like to be facing Wakefield. I can't imagine the lack of intimidation there must be when he's on the mound against your team. I would love it if TB or NYY would consistently put a guy like Wake out there.

    "fundamentals" and "catching a knuckleball" are two distinctly different things. That said, I still agree with you because getting picked off, making the wrong throw on the bases, etc., all reflect s***** fundamentals.

    The team doesn't have a chance to do anything good. They are conistently behind and if my dejection as a fan is any indication, it probably really sucks to be a player.

    That is why Wake should not be pitching any more. Even if he's a decent innings eater there is simply too many passed balls and easy bases.

    Sox up 1.5 games right now, 2 in the loss column. There is time to right the ship, but they have to win. Lots of scenarios could play out for the rest of the season, but the easiest one to calculate is this: win and you're in. 5 games to go, win them all and nobody can catch you. This could be the last game for Tim Wakefield in a Sox uniform. These could be the last Sox-Yankees game for long-established rivalry guys like David Ortiz, Jon Papelbon, and Jason Varitek. The Red Sox owe themselves and us as fans more than what they have given us. I hope that someone on the team can find the voice and strength to provide some leadership, stop the slide, and get them a win. I don't give a f*** who is pitching, or about the lineups. Go Sox.

    I suppose I will opt for worn out rather than either of those options. What do you see? I just looks exhausted to me, not like "tired arm" but more "tired guy". He doesn't have the same intensity in his eyes. Of course, after getting shelled early in games for all 3 weeks (I think) I have probably seen more shocked Jon than anything else. I sure as hell hope it isn't an injury.

    Watching Lester tonight was pretty concerning. The last three starts, actually, have been really atypical for him. He looks extremely tired and simply not himself. It's the first time I remember seeing him like that for such a long time. Usually his stuff is good enough to work his way through tough nights but recently he's been really slapped around. I hope he's feeling okay. If they don't have Lester over the next few years as a pseudo-Ace, then this team will be set back considerably.

    Being better than a temporarily bad pitcher for a 3 start period doesn't mean Wakefield has been good. His 5.53 ERA over the past 14 starts plays a big role in why the Sox are where they are.

    Johnny Damon and John Farrell simultaneously dicking the Sox. Farrell came out to check on Romero in the 9th with 2 on. Leaves him in. Damon hits a 3 run home run. This just isn't the Sox year...
