  1. Let's just say that the civil rights movement wasn't led by Dominicans. I'm not saying that Papi and Manny haven't benefited from what Jackie Robinson did, but there is a distinction to be made between African Americans (many of whom decended from American slave holders) and Dominicans (who did not decend from American slave holders). Is Coco-Crisp an honorary Dominican, who is proud of his heratige of revolt, including the revolts against Spain and Haiti simply because of his skin color? It seems to me that the distinction is valid. CC Sabathia isn't complaining about the sparse number of Dominican pitchers in the league, he (and Dontrelle) are complaining about how few African Americans there are playing. Are they discriminating?
  2. I'm pretty sure the term that differentiates Manny and Ortiz from Jackie is "African American". Coco is an African-American, the other two are Dominican.
  3. So, any Yankee fans concerned about Jeter? He was definitely limping around the bases tonight. I gotta give it to him, he is a TRUE gamer. Limping around the bases and batting the next inning, hustling as usual. Is he heavier than he has been in the past? Isn't it weird that there will be a 'last game' for Jeter someday? He seems like one of those immortal players who will die playing baseball.
  4. Uhhh, yeah. We weren't complaining about it, we found it curious. Curious that when times are bad for the Sox, there's Gom chiming in. When the Sox do well... crickets. I don't know why I'm explaining that to you, given that you're sitting there thinking about me masturbating. Sicko.
  5. I can't believe what a whiny prick you are. Everything is telling people to shut up and using derrogatory comments to put people down. You don't like the way people are on this forum? Leave then. Jeez.
  6. You know more about baseball than I do. I bow to your surpreme knowledge sir.
  7. Notice our reciprocal win-win predictions.
  8. A-Rod will get a single and score 2.
  9. Nope. That was just a bad play.
  10. Hey, where are all the Yankee fans? Its the 8th inning of a 1-run game and there aren't fans behind the plate. What gives?
  11. Why? They're the first ones to post that Schilling looks old when he gives up a few runs in an early-April start... where are they when the Sox do well? I think its a fair question. And don't give me "they're hanging out in Yankee chat rooms" cause for Jacksonian at least, that likely aint the case.
  12. wasnt he involved with soxprospects? could that have heated up again?
  13. good question. perhaps his ears (eyes) will burn from our wondering and he will return.
  14. I don't think I'm getting carried away. I think that we're talking about a guy who has regularly been injured and hasn't put together a full healthy season. I stated honestly that he doesn't have the power, but his plate control and ability to make hard contact is very, very good. Production-wise, very few hitters can rival what Manny has done. As far as pure talent and ability to hit a thrown ball I think JD Drew has shown that he's among the elite. Clearly the Sox thought so, that's why they paid him as much as they did. Look at his control and calm there at the plate. Regardless, I'm very excited to have him as the #5 on this team.
  15. Again, if he's healthy he is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over Trot. He is as good a hitter as Ortiz or Manny, just slightly less power but he won't get fooled often and really makes pitchers work. BTW, I can't help but try my Latin from high school: Ubi est Jacksonianmarch? Ubi est Gom? Sox win and silence, sox lose and razzing? That's not really fair to jacksonian, I suppose.
  16. Good post taliesin You're right. THat music sticks in the depths of my brain for a long time.
  17. No, definitely not. I take what I can get my man! I would kill to have NESN, if only to watch endless Sox replays and useless interviews with guys like the curly-haired bastard and Tina Cervasio. Basically they give you the game until the moment the 3rd out is made, and then it shuts off or switches to another game. Still, its good news for sure. I was feeling pressured to move sooner than later just to get the dish. That would have required me to get another job and the list goes on and on. That god that's over!
  18. I'm sure you can tell I was joking, right a700? I saw some of Spann in Spring Training, let's assume this was an anomoly. Lowell, if you're reading this, we still have confidence in ya man! Yeah Sox. nice victory. That is how Beckett SHOULD handle inferior teams.
  19. Isn't it amazing how you can feel like this team is scarry-bad one night, and then unbeatable the next. That's 162 games of baseball for ya!
  20. I don't know, but I feel "bad" for the guy who was bragging about "I just got my Direct TV set up" the other day. Too bad you changed providers for nothing bro!
