  1. Well, we plowed through the s***** part of the chisox pen. Good thing. When you get to the end I hear you get a Bobby Jenks!!
  2. I appreciate the optimism, and for the most part I agree with you. They do both show signs of being servicable, but the quest for the linedrive hitting/HR hitting #5 hitter goes on. Drew could be good as a #2 or #6. Lowell is frustrating at times, as can be Youkilis. I'm really thinking that the Sox might be aggressive and deal Youkilis. He might be the most valuable of their available position players. He could certainly help an NL offense with his on-base skills and ability to hit for average. It would open up a power position on the defensive spectrum and free up the logjam. Lowell is the other option, but I don't know how much trade value he has. I'm a big Youkilis fan, but a power 1B bat feels like what this team needs, so his name has to be an option.
  3. They both signed long term deals. If Drew wins the MVP in his 3rd year any prediction now would be pretty short sighted. did I just lay out a scenario where Drew wins the mvp? Ha! It IS too early to tell however. MUCH can be forgotten based on how the team ultimately does, in terms of how history will judge.
  4. s*** man, put Pedroia in the 5 hole.
  5. No s***. OWNED. Things are pretty worrisome right now, but they can turn around quickly. There is no reason they should be losing to these teams, they simply aren't coming through to get the runners in. GREAT play by Pedroia to get thelead runner. Amazing.
  6. Well, Pedroia's .856 OPS ties him with Ichiro, .005 points behind Grady Sizemore. He leads Jimmy Rollins, Hideki Matsui, Brian Roberts, Jose Reyes, Lance Berkman and Nick Swisher. They basically said he was an on-base machine who hit to the gaps. Youkilis got straight bitch slapped in that at bat. Up and in, then late on the heater by a mile. Hey, it happens. Too bad Pedroia didn't score on the wild pitch.
  7. It might just take one really nice classic Fenway Red Sox win to get this team going in the right direction. In recent years those games have had a nice impact, including earlier this year when Manny hit a late inning home run against Toronto--I believe--in a Dice-K start.
  8. f***ing right. I'm all for Pedroia as rookie of the year. (is he eligible?)
  9. Okay, so here we have the leadoff hitter. Coco has been stinging the ball lately. Let's go man.
  10. I laughed so hard at myself when that image flashed through my mind. With the porn mustache and everything...
  11. Tiny. I've heard Hansen's are huge. They actually weigh him down when he runs and doctors believe their sheer mass stunted his growth by about 3 inches. He's supposed to be 6'8. Isn't that strange? :dunno:
  12. I'm surprised that we never hear Tina Cervasio off camera just saying "yeah they suck" about the Red Sox. It must be hard for her to stay chipper while they suck. Or, she might just not care...
  13. Every other recent year it was a matter of figuring out when Ortiz and Manny were coming up and counting on a run or two if needed. This year the distribution is scattered and inconsistent.
  14. If your offense regularly scores 1 or 2 or 3 runs in a game it doesn't matter how good the pitching is. The pitching on this team is deep enough when Schilling comes back and with the possibility of a guy like Buchholz coming up to help from the pen. Most of the players I've heard talked about are essentially Joel Pineiro but on other teams. There are a few who would likely be more than just consistent .500 pitchers, but not enough to put a whole lot of prospects or money into. People were advocating to sell the farm for Barry Zito last year and would likely do the same this year if he didn't totally s*** the bed. The point is that decent pitchers are around and pitchers often considered "good" can give up bombs and 7 ER starts just like Tavarez and Wakefield and Igawa and Mussina. Gabbard, Hansack, Snyder, Pineiro, Lester are all options. The issue is that there is no chemistry in the offense. People are batting all over the place, Drew is leading off, no, wait it's Crisp, no, Lugo, Pedroia, you want a shot? Youkilis. The only guys who don't move are Manny and Papi, and I think that should change too, except for the L,R,L thing. There is no power from the 3/4 spots and even LESS than no power from the 5 spot. Youkilis does his darndest, but he's just not a HR hitter. Drew is supposed to be driving the ball, but he hasn't been and doesn't look like he's capable of it. Lowell is decent, Tek is a good hitting catcher all things considered, Lugo and Crisp are turning it around. The pieces are there, but there just isn't that 'click'.
  15. He's 25 now, it is likely maturity and experience at AAA than helped. His stuff has always been good, but he is really just attacking the zone right now. God I hope that craig hansen has a similar growth.
  16. Semi heart attack. Thanks for not sending konerko. Thanks for covering MDC.
