  1. Jacksonian... oh Jacksonian....?? 9-0? Now, the game isn't over, but I"m not ready to declare the Yankees AL East champs just yet.
  2. Lugo is certainly hitting like an adequate #9 hitter now.
  3. How about we give Texas an offer they can't refuse for Teixiera and Otsuka. Youkilis, Bowden/Lester, WMP, Pineiro (+$), Moss/Murphy
  4. THE ANSWER, REMY, IS SANDPAPER. NOT PAINT.
  5. Where's Moose? Oh, there he is, gazing longingly at the field from the bench.
  6. It's also just a matter of seeing it. We have seen time and time again the umps being willing to change their call if one of them saw it. I belive none of them saw it. s***, it's hard to see.
  7. I'm telling ya man, sandpaper.
  8. I agree with you sotk. This has the feel of one of those games the sox are hungry to win.
  9. Here's what you do to fix that problem Remy. A sandpaper like surface--perhaps a distinctive color--that could scuff the ball if it lands up there, and maybe leaving a little color behind as well. Something like Yellow or Purple. the ball would have a scuff on it consistent with having hit that part of the park.
  10. If JD Drew can hit the ball like that more often he will be very helpful.
  11. f***ing absurd. Goddamn it.
  12. You have GOT to be f***ing kidding me. 3 run home run cancelled because they couldn't get the f***ing call right. Goddamn it! Delay this game 30 minutes Tito. Go ahead.
  13. Aren't fair-weather fans those who only root for the team when they're doing well? I know that I sure as hell haven't stopped rooting for them, and I would bet that anyone who spends the time to come to "talksox.com" is still rooting for the sox more than other teams (jacksonian, gom, etc., aside).
  14. Well, their expected W-L is 57-38 (vs. actual 56-39) The Yankees expected W-L is 55-38 (vs. actual 48-45) Perhaps it is the Yankees who have been playing UNDER their head, and their ascention toward the red sox is a reflection of the fact that they have a tremendous team. The Sox are currently around where the Wild Card teams are, and everyone acknowledges how strong the AL Central is. To be "down with" Cleveland is not an insult. They have a really solid team. To be competing with the Yankees at this point is not an insult. To be SEVEN games ahead of them is not an insult or unfortunate by any stretch. If someone offered me a 7 game lead 95 games into the season I would take it, whether it had fallen from 14 or had slowly grown from a 2-4 game oscilation. I think this is a 95-100 win team. I think that is damn good. I see no reason they won't be able to play well down the stretch, or add some key pieces given their nice minor league system and some useful MLB players, and money that can be thrown into a team. I hope they are willing to pull the trigger on something that will have an impact.
  15. Since when is a team playing BARELY sub.500 baseball for 2 months grounds for dismissal from the pennant race? I mean, c'mon. I understand that this team needs changes; we've all written about that ad nauseum. None of us can pinpoint those changes. Also, none of us can pinpoint ANYTHING about who is really available. Who the hell knows? Would you put it past this team to put up 9 runs tomorrow? At some point it will swing the other way. I'm not basing it purely on blind faith, a lot of guys are under producing right now. When that happened to the yankees they played poorly (i.e., A-Rod carried them). I just think it is naieve and shortsighted to give up on this team right now. Some moves definitely need to be made, but I remain optimistic. Look back at the 2004 team for awhile. They got to some pretty low places, with tons of infighting and arguing and daily speculation about which move needs to be made, and which starter needs to sit. It is a LONG season. Does anyone expect this team to be .500 over the next almost 80 games? Every team will have ups and downs, but the best time to get hot when you have a lead is down the stretch.
  16. Okay, look at it this way. Right now the Red Sox are 56-39. The Yankees are 48-45. We all know that teams play in streaks. The Yankees that are winning now are the same CHUMPS (yeah, jacksonianmarch, they're chumps) that were losing game after game earlier in the season. I know the Sox look like s*** right now. Each season, every team looks like s*** for spells. We talk about trading players, but we all stop short because there aren't a lot of places to put new pieces. That's a GOOD thing. We like these guys when they're hot, we don't when they're not. I see no reason this team can't win 5 or 6 games in a row against these opponents, and have the Yankees suddenly start losing. Yet another ebb-and-flow of a once 14 game lead. it's optimistic, but the Sox are getting hits, they're drawing walks, they're pitching pretty well, they're just losing in close games. FORTUNATELY, they have a big lead while they are going through the worst losing streak of the season. That might be their saving grace.
  17. This has got to be the worst scene of this movie... right?
  18. I'm glad the Yankees lost today. We will do today over again tomorrow.
  19. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
