  1. I think you're right about 2007, but 4 straight against the Yankees or not, I think EVERYONE cared most about winning that Series, especially considering what it took to get there. To finally eliminate the chants of '1918' meant a lot to Sox fans, and losing that World Series would have reduced the smoking of the Yankees to an occasional joke at the expense of Yankees fans instead of a constant reminder of almost literally the worst series loss in the history of human civilization.
  2. Except a700hitter, for him it'd be Cy Young.
  3. Wasn't Canseco the one that gave a home run to a batter by letting the ball bounce off of his head over the wall?
  4. And then there was that moment of silence before the first pitch of Game 1, to remember Jonathan Papelbon, tragically struck down in his youth when his violent eye-popping screams suddenly exploded several blood vessels in his brain.
  5. My favorite Red Sox moment is when the Red Sox won the 2011 World Series. Kevin Youkilis' walk-off home run in Game 6 and Lester's 8 shutout innings in Game 7 to beat Philadelphia were spectacular. Not to mention the bench-clearing brawl in game 4 when Dustin Pedroia tore off Chase Utley's left arm and beat Cliff Lee to death with it.
  6. Lugo, Lugo, Lugo, always Lugo. And Gagne.
  7. No one is ever going to take third against the Rays. Ever again. "And Jeter lines a fastball into right-center. Gardner hits second...oh, the ball is bobbled out in right! Gardener heads to third. The throw is off-line, he's...wait a second, what's this? Evan Longoria is inserting a magazine into his Kalashnikov...Gardener stops and reconsiders. He looks left, right, left again. He looks at Jeter. Jeter shrugs and inches back towards first, sweating profusely...Well, I guess Gardener has to be asking himself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, does he? Aaaaand, no. Gardner meekly slinks back to second base. Longoria plays to the crowd, now. He's blowing imaginary smoke from the barrel of his firearm. Goodness, Jim, what a show, eh?" "Yeah, Dave, an absolutely picture-perfect play by Longoria. At the moment the young Rays third baseman is leading the league in RBIs, home runs and flesh wounds, the old 'Ty Cobb Triple Crown'. And when you-oh, now he's done it. He's just cracked Alex Rodriguez with the rifle's stock. The crowd is going absolutely wild, Dave. It's a standing O and another fantastic night here at the Trop" "It's a great time to be a Ray, that's for sure, Jim. Who'd have thought A-Rod had that much blood in his scalp?!" "Truly a sight to behold, Dave"
  8. No, the Dakotas are windy because of the abundance of flat terrain and the convergence of several continental weather patterns. What are you talking about?
  9. Why is Nebraska so windy? Because Iowa blows and Kansas sucks. Welcome to TalkSox
  10. I'll drink to that.
  11. As we all know, there are members of TalkSox that occasionally voice support for other teams, be they their local team or simply a team they have taken a liking to. I, personally, am a Rockies fan. Emmz roots for the Twins, a couple TalkSoxers are obviously Yankees fans, and even suns is a follower of something called the Cleveland Guardians, whom I am told at one point used to be a competitive baseball team. (My sources are still looking into the validity of this claim). Obviously, the Red Sox and Yankees are the two most abundantly discussed MLB teams on TalkSox, and just as obviously a seperate thread for each of the 25 baseball teams, as well as the Royals, Pirates, Guardians, Orioles, and Nationals would simply clutter the General Baseball forum. Therefore, much as last year's version, this thread will exist to function as a discussion forum for individual games of note played by teams other than the Red Sox or Yankees. Please use this thread to speak about in-game happenstance, rather than create a new thread for the purpose of bringing up, for example, a player hitting three home runs in a game or a bench-clearing brawl. This will reduce redundant conversation on the General Baseball Forum. Thank you, and here's hoping for an excellent season all around! ....except for the Yankees, of course.
  12. Buchholz looked good today.
  13. They have a turkey and brie sandwich with apple butter on a ciabatta roll. I think it's what angels probably taste like.
  14. There's a place very near the park called Jillians. Awesome. Go there.
  15. AJ Burnett. Oh, wait, best RED SOX pitcher, not best pitcher FOR the Red Sox. Um, Lester.
  16. Not at all, that was kind of my intention, but remember to say it in Theo's voice.
  17. Kids, we don't want you to worry. We sent Timmy to a nice farm family. He'll have lots of, of open space to frolic and play with ...the other...other dogs on the farm. He's going to be very ha---oh God, Harold, talk to them...I can't...I just, I just can't. *sob*
  18. What happened? We stole their land, marginalized their people, and now they live on reservations and laugh as they watch us gamble the deeds to our homes away. It's the circle of life.
  19. This is not surprising.
  20. I figured Curt Schilling's top 5 anything would all be 'Curt Schilling'. Jesus, does that man love to talk, and does he love to talk about Curt Schilling.
  21. Calling Ital, Ital, please report to the main office, Ital, please report to the main office. Thank you.
