  1. ...well, at least the Yankees lost.
  2. I can see how that makes sense. But like I said, Francona doesn't have a lot to work with in the outfield. He's got Crawford, Ellsbury, and then what can be charitably described as 'a bunch of guys'. He needs another outfielder, and that's not on him, that's on the FO. I am sure they are going to do something about it by the deadline, but for the moment his options are limited, and he's taken the team from a horrid start to the second-best record in baseball with those same options. Gotta give him credit for that.
  3. It's an NL park. Unless you want Matt Albers PHing with the team only up or down by one run, or tied, you're always going to need a new bat. And I'd rather it was Drew or Reddick than Cameron or McDonald.
  4. No matter how much anyone might bitch about Francona, remember, it could be worse. Your favorite team could be managed by Clint Hurdle.
  5. Again, when you have a strong 1-5, it makes sense to hold off your better PH options just in case. If the Sox are down by one in the 8th, I don't want McDonald and Cameron to be the only PH options for the 9-spot with runners on.
  6. ....word of advice, pepper spray is equally uncomfortable when absorbed through certain parts of the body on which the skin is very thin. Also, go Drew!
  7. I absolutely refuse to believe this is happening. I must either be dreaming or in some sort of coma. I'm going to strip real quick and wave my junk at a passing police car just to see if this is real life. Be right back.
  8. Well, they'll have Gonzalez and Ortiz to offset that. Gonzalez alone can offset a lot....except tonight.
  9. I hope Neil Walker ends up playing for the Rangers eventually. The jokes will practically write themselves.
  10. ...and as I type that, he puts in Hottovy. Okay, so two decisions now.
  11. On one hand, he works with what he's given. His only other options were Drew and Reddick in the outfield. If it were me, I would probably have started McDonald and Cameron too, in hopes that the top half of the lineup would score enough and Lester would hold the weaker Pirates lineup down. Then, if needed, you have two marginally better outfielders available to PH late in the game. Honestly, the only decision he made that I disagree with is the order in which the last half of the lineup was constructed. I would have gone Scutaro-Tek-Cameron-Mcdonald instead of the other way around. But honestly, he doesn't have a lot to work with in the outfield until Crawford comes back.
  12. I only listen on the radio, but MLB Gameday has that third ball well in the zone.
  13. 6 LOB for McDonald tonight. 3 for Youk. 0 for Cameron, but only because he batted first in the inning all three times he was up. Lester put the ball in play more times than Cameron today. Pathetic. They can still pull this win out, but they have less and less to work with. If the top of the order comes up again, they have to do something.
  14. I can't believe they're pitching to Youk.
  15. How do you have two unrelated guys named McCutchen? Actually, isn't Taylor Buchholz in the Sox ML system?
  16. He may have swung at anything that entered his range of vision (I think he once struck out on two fastballs and a passing bumblebee), but man did he hit some lasers. Shots that took about a trillionth of a second to hit the Monster seats and probably left dents.
  17. Yeah, but he'll probably PH Drew.
  18. ...and just a bit below Francona's BAC, apparently.
