  1. I don't think anyone underrates Braun, McCutchen, Kinsler, or Johnson. Dunn's batting average is on pace to get into negative numbers by September (that means for every plate appearance, he does so badly that they take away a hit from his team), so I think he is, if anything, overrated by virtue of still being in the lineup. The rest...meh.
  2. And on top of that, Morneau with the lowest ranked OBP on this list, was the one that made everyone say "What?!". Even I, as a Sox fan, would have figured A-Rod in 2006, Morneau came right the f*** out of nowhere.
  3. He's leading the RBI column by one. Also, I think you can stop mentioning triples, as the only time anyone has ever taken triples into account when voting has been at the Adult Film Awards.
  4. Granderson takes a one RBI lead over Gonzalez and a few hours later, jacko says 'I didn't believe it was possible, but now I think he might be the favorite for MVP!!!!!' What happens tomorrow when Gonzalez takes the lead back?
  5. I think the top 5 in the MVP voting will end up being Gonzalez, Bautista, Ellsbury, Granderson, and either Pedroia or Tiexera. I just have no idea what order they'll be in.
  6. I am almost choking on my own vomit as I type this, but I...well...ugh...I... agreewithjacksonianmarch Whew, there. I think 'conservative' is a good word for it. It's a reasonable prediction, record-wise, but I think the odds of both teams going the remainder of the season without a three-game sweep are slim. I would guess that the Sox sweep one or both of the O's series, and considering the way they have played each other this season, the 3-game Jays series as well. However, that is not to say that your charts are anything but an excellent piece of baseball work. Love to see how your choices play out.
  7. I'm preparing you for the increasing sense of crippling depression and soul-killing ennui associated with getting older. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  8. That's acually not a sewage plant, it's just New Jersey. That's actually their Capitol Building.
  9. Whoa, they both have the same number of pitches through four. TWILIIIIGHT ZOOONE
  10. Aviles pessimistic if they can score a run this inning.
  11. Lester has such a sweet pickoff move.
  12. Exactly. The Sox have to face facts: Wakefield has given his heart and soul to the team, and I love the guy, but there's going to come a day, and soon, where he isn't going to be viable as a major league pitcher. Some people will say that it has already come, and that's arguable, but at the moment he can still pitch and keep the Sox in games. However, he can't play forever, and when he's gone the Sox will have lost a durable fifth or spot starter and will need to have a more concrete option to fill the slot. They can't win the division every year with AAA guys being called up to fill an empty spot three times a month.
  13. No one is a Pats fan....well, no one that matters.
  14. If he doesn't go Gagne on the Sox, I would like to see him come back next season. If Buchholz is healthy again in 2012, Beckett-Lester-Lackey-Buchholz-Bedard is a very formidable lineup of generic-looking farmboys.
  15. They're giving Oakland, Florida, and the Dodgers a .01% chance of making the postseason...that's generous.
  16. CD went to San Francisco, ifyouknowwhatimean. Seriously, welcome to TalkSox
  17. Do you run into patient's rooms and yell 'go cancer rah rah rah?'
  18. This was an excellent win. This was the one game in the series I was worried about, and the Sox took it. Saltalamacchia is continuing to shine and Crawford has continued hitting the ball hard. (Except the bunt). Now that they took the game started by Wake, a sweep seems much more likely.
  19. When you do nothing else and contribute zero to the rest of the board, it's a problem. You're missing her point. Now, everyone, and I mean everyone, stop. Now. Talk about the game, not each other, or I am going to be...perturbed. Yes, yes. Perturbed. I like the sound of that.
  20. She is correct about that.
