  1. So how bout that Yankee offense? Is Beckett gonna hold it at bay tonight?
  2. Nothing I said was meant to be taken as definitive. The reason all of that seems pretty general is because that's how I meant it.There are over 100 players who have been found to have used some sort of performance enhancing substance. They can't all fit the ame mold. Somebody had said that they get massive, which I was trying to say isn't always the case, some just get bulky and disproportioned. I guess I wasn't clear enough, but geeze I had to take an awful lot of flack for it. Saying that they get bulky and disproportioned is acknowledging a change in physique, albeit vague. That's better than responding to the massive thing with "Well you can barely notice the size change in the likes of Alex Sanchez, Brian Roberts, Wall Joyner, etc." I had not the time, effort, or desire to liste people name by name so I very generally just said that players can get bulky and disproportioned. I don't see why on earth people take such exception to that and feel the need to attack something as small and petty as that. The basis of my rants were not David Ortiz, as I said I only threw him in there because A-Rod's name was being dragged around. You guys are a tough crowd...
  3. I took exception to you divulging the terms of my offer, which set me in a fury and caused me to take a shot at you. That's usually how it works
  4. I think John Goodman would make a damn good Harlan Chamberlain
  5. I'm aware of Reynolds' minor league stats, sorta why i wanted to get my hands on him I don't seriously think you altered the order, but if you're going to give me s*** then I'm going to give you s***. The way negotiating usually works is I aim high and await your counter. You had no interest in ofering a serious counter-proposal, which is fine. I move on. Did I seriously expect to get Griffey and Reynolds for that, absolutely not, but I have to start somewhere. And to say those rankings are meaningless is a little redundant, I think. Obviously they're nt the be all, end all definitive rankings that tell you just how good a player is, but they give you an idea relative to other players at that position. If I thought that was the case and the rankings were absolutely legit, Livan Hernandez, ranked over 600, wouldnt be my 3rd starter. You have to at least consider them when making moves though. If you have any interest in talking Reynolds, then feel free to make me a reasonable offer, or one that is at least semi-serious, and we can take it from there. If not, peace!
  6. How do you figure? If he's in pinstripes in 2004 it's us going to the World Series. He's not there to play miracle man for you guys in game 6. He probably gets his ring anyway....
  7. He had his chance after 2003...f*** him, I would never want to see that piece of s*** in pinstripes. Good thing we didn't waste Soriano on his sorry ass and let A-Rod go to Boston or stay in Texas.
  8. Are you kidding me? You're lacking depth at second behind Uggla, and I'm lacking depth at third. Behind Uggla, Castillo can put up a good OBP and although he hasn't gotten off to the best start Tavarez will give you steals and his bat is bound to heat up. The rankings on both sides add up to 407 and 406 for you and I, respectively. You're insulted by a 1 point edge? Get over yourself. You have A-Rod so I figured it would be reasonable to think you could spare Reynolds (How did the commish end up with A-Rod anyway, did you fix the draft order or something? Also, since you so freely accuse A-Rod of steroid use in the other thread, why do you have him, does that make you a cheater in your book?). As for your "fair deal," Let me shout that out, since you have no sense of respect and freely shout out offers made by others, which to me is a breach of ethics. Mark Reynolds, Joe Saunders, and Kurt Suzuki for Martin, McLouth, and Papelbon!? Have you been drinking this morning, Red? http://www.remkes.ca/Photos/Taiwan/Taiwan/Apartment/Mark%20at%20Computer-s.jpg
  9. I figured I would make this thread for us to talk about happenings around the Yankees throughout the year rather than starting threads for insignificant topics or discussing them in game threads, which as we all know get FLOOOOOOODDDDDEEEEEDDD anyway (10 pages in less than an hour is not unusual ) I wanted to throw out that FINALLY, after being relentlessly booed throughout the first homestand, being serenaded with "Paul O'Neill chants, and having a chat with Jeter and Mo; LaTroy Hawkins has decided to relinquish number 21 and switch back to 22, which he woe in the spring while 21 was occupied by Morgan Ensberg. A small step down in my eyes, going from Paulie to Roger, but I don't think Roger has much clout anymore, so I can't complain. I think this should be a clue to Hank, Hal, and Daddy-o that O'Neill is deserving of having his number retired. As suggested by Greg Cohen on his Sliding Into Home Yankee blog (a very good one, I might add), how about June 21 st, when the Reds come into town. http://www.newsday.com/topic/ny-spynotes165651726apr16,0,2848930.story Also, interestingly, the idea of putting Piazza in pinstripes to help deal with the current lack of catching depth due to injuries has been thrown around by some online. I know a few years ago I wouldn't have minded seeing Piazza in pinstripes backing up Jorgie and being a lethal bat off the bench, but at this point with his inability to catch I initially just dismissed it as a dumb idea. I still feel that way, but I wouldn't be completely 100% opposed to it if the Yankees could make it work with three catchers. Appearantly, neither would Cashman. According to a team insider, Ca$h-money and his advisers are meeting (this was yesterday, so I dont know if they plan on meeting or have met already) to discuss whether o not signing Piazza would be beneficial and help deal with the current catching problem. I, for one, am more than content with Molina backing up a healthy Jorgie. But Piazza's bat off the bench could prove helpful. He would have to be willing to play some first once in a while, as having three exclusive catchers does NOTHING for our benches depth and versatility. I should point out though that Molina has played some first base throughout his pro career both in the Majors and in the Minors (I thought he had played some third too, but upon further research found nothing to validate that) and that Posada came up as a second baseman and could be a candidate to move to first sometime in the next few years. Now I certainly don't think this is a move that is ultimately going to happen, as it just doesnt make enough sense, but an AL scout who followed Piazza closely last year says that "any team that adds Piazza will be getting a player who is obsessed with winning a World Series." I think it's an intriguing possibility and topic of conversation. And I must admit, that going back to his Mets days I've always had small desire to see Piazza in pinstripes. http://gothambaseballmagazine.com/yankees/piazza-coming-to-the-bronx.html Apparently, this is a rendering of what the alter will look like this Sunday at the Stadium when Pope Benedict does mass at the Stadium. http://bp2.blogger.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/SATIh6_Rr8I/AAAAAAAABdA/Ou-e8RffCEE/s400/papal20visityankee20final20copy.jpg I guess the Yankees have instructed the vatican to make sure the pope-mobile, or anything/anyone for that matter doesn't touch the grass. Being raised catholic (not the most devout or religious person anymore) and actually visiting the Vatican (during John Paul's papacy) I've really wanted to go see this since hearing of it last year. But considering tickets are only available through the church, and the fact that I haven't been to mass in FOREVER I wouldn't feel right. Besides, Sunday is sort of a holiday for me and I'm probably going to be busy most of the day. ...ok, so got all of that out of my system Back to bed..
  10. Now back to the topic at hand, the Yankee offense. Looks like the controlled climate inside the Trop is helping to heat up our offense. We have to hope that it carries over into the Boston series. I want to apologize to a few of you for allowing this thread to get soooooo far off track. But the idiocy of some Red Sox fans who feel the need to throw steroids into the mix when discussing a slumping Yankee team infuriates me. Lets move on....
  11. I made Ortiz a part of it because A-Rod was thrown into it. I make a point to never throw anyone into steroid discussions because we simply don't know. It was so wide-spread that it's not fair to speculate on just a few players. But when you guys are gonna throw A-Rod, probably one of the two or three most gifted players of all time, under the steroid bus I'm gonna have to do the same. Why take exception to me throwing Ortiz out there if you guys are gonna claim A-Rod used. And forgive me for not being crystal clear and explaining all points of suspicion regarding Ortiz, I didn't feel it was necessary as it has all been said many times before. Change in size, change in production, blah, blah, etc. Must I go on? Well forgive me. I'm not at work or in class when I post here so my need to be precise and unambiguous and thoroughly explain my thought process dwindles in my eyes. I do enough of that on a daily basis that sometimes when I'm home I like to relax, allow my mind to drift, and just ******** a little online. I didn't realize the standards of postong on talksox.com were so high, I feel like it's a f***ing job. biased towards what? what bias could I possibly have in making the point that some players you can clearly tell took steroids? http://www.survivinggrady.com/uploaded_images/gagne-727840.jpg http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/05/09/sports/09steroids.1.600.jpg http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2007/0619/pg2_a_dykstra_195.jpg http://www.blackstate.com/images/BarryBonds.jpg http://www.nydailynews.com/img/2007/08/10/amd_lup_mcgwire.jpg http://www.johnrocker.net/images/john_nypd.jpg http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2005/writers/jeffri_chadiha/03/15/chadiha.giambis/p1_giambis.jpg All I did was say that you can look back at some revealed PED users and see it in their physique. Not all, but some. Those who used enough of it for long enough you can tell. Why not take issue with rican blast for saying he saw people on it all the time when he worked in a gym? I doubt he actually saw them inject themselves, but he could tell by looking at their physique. I don't have the energy or the picture resources to find a bunch of very revealing photos of players with bulging veins that make it obvious, but I tried to give you an idea of what I was saying. Had I not limited my pictures to baseball players I could have made my point even more so with some football players. Point is though, that I don't see why you guys take such exception to me pointing out that some players were obvious offenders, and you can tell this by looking at some of their bodies. Maybe because I didn't specify that I was only referring to some players and not every single steroid injecting motherf***ing one of them. But I think it has more to do with the fact that I'm a diehard Yankee fan who wears his fanhood on his sleeve and most of you guys don't like that. The fact that I love baseball and my favorite team as I did when I was a child, and I let it shine through and allow myself to become enamored by it all seems to offend some people. My love of baseball is all I have left of my childhood, so if my displayed approach and insight into the game offends or bothers some of you, then sorry, but go whistle. I'm not an idiot, I'm not delusional, I know how things work , I know how to be objective and think things through, but that doesn't mean I have to lay all of that out here. This is supposed to be a place to just come and lay your cards down, shoot the s***, and enjoy the company of other baseball fans, all be it mainly Red Sox fans . But some of you gusy take this s*** way too f***ing seriously. Maybe you're like this to me and some of my fellow Yankee fans because of all the pent up rage and frustration from all the years you've had to endure taking s*** from Yankee fans like myself, and you feel the need to return the favors while your team is on top (not for long) and you have the opportunity. So by all means, let it out. It won't last long.
  12. Go f*** yourself. You're a misreble old man who has nothing better to do than try to impress people you don't even know to bloat your ego even more so than it already is. All of that "my dick is bigger than your dick" s*** might have been fine and dandy with your marine buddies, but you're just as full of s*** as me or anyone else. Get over yourself Mr. holier than thou. What holes were in my post, all I said is that looking back, after learning of a players steroid use, you can sort of see it in their physique. Some more than others. The fact that most of you guys; especially you, kilo, 700, etc. don't like me very much caused that kilo of cocaine sniffing prick to become argumentative. I could say the grass is green and you guys would try to dispute it. Go jerk off to some World Series highlights or something.
  13. You're such a argumentative, ball-busting prick, man. lol How do the people in your life deal with you? Besides, Roberts said he only used once back in 2003. Not saying that that is completely true, but throwing it out there.
  14. No, they don't get massive, but their body looks bulky and unproportioned. At the time you don't realize, but looking back after hearing of somebody's use, you can sort of see it. And I know whats coming from you next, but I think it definitely goes beyond ones own mind telling them that. I'm not gonna waste my time doing it, but go andlook at pictures of some of the players who have been named throughout different times in their career.
  15. No, absolutely. I just thought there was a limit of how many days you can be on it to go along with the 3 day minimum. I could very well have been wrong. No biggie...hopefully he gets back soon
  16. I just read on the LoHud Yankee blog that there is no limit to how long a player can be on the bereavement list. I always thought to the contrary, like 3-5 days or something. That wouldn't make much sense to me. Can anyone dig up some info on this policy, or at least direct me in the right direction?
  17. So Betemit hits the DL with pink eye, and Joba hits the bereavement list. That brings up Albeladejo and Moeller, and leaves us with a knocked up Jorgie, Jeter, and Molina on the bench. This series is NOT going to be fun. I find it interesting that Molina is still active, must mean that his condition isn't too serious. Also indicates that Moeller may not be with the organization too much longer, as he would have to clear waivers to go back to Scranton. I know the Yankees were very impressed with him after signing him mid-way through Spring Training, and have remained impressed with how well he has handled the pitching staff in Scranton. They've gotten off to a realllly nice start, Igawa included. I suppose Molina could hit the DL at some point retroactive to his last appearance, but I think if it looks like that may be the case we should do it now considering the lack of depth we currently possess. Should be an interesting series to watch. I call a split.
  18. Fair enough.. wait.....Jeter!? Are you drunk? You have to be kidding me. I wouldn't need to get so defensive if you were a little fair and objective from time to time when it comes to the Yankees. You're terribly biased against them, and it shines through in every post you make about them.
  19. Perhaps. But from the get go? Drafted right out of High School? He wasn't too big in his early years. Very fit, but not huge. He must have been on some good, unnoticeable s***. Throughout the years and as his size has progressed, it looks more like a natural growth to me than a chemically enhanced growth. His physical conditioning looks to be almost second to none. You can sort of tell when looking at PED user's physiques.
  20. Does Ortiz fit that description? I think he does... I'm not trying to debate anything said in your post, which I thought was very enlightening, but how can you say a High School kid has less to gain than a pro athlete. I would think it the other way around. The pro's already have a contract and are making money on a big stage. The HS kid is trying to get noticed by scouts and make a future for himself. I think that he would have more to gain, if not just as much.
  21. I dont recall any of those names being mentioned. I'll go grab my copy and scan the index (if there is one) and let u know though..
  22. Interestingly, Albeladejo and Moeller were called up, but it was Joba's bereavement status and WILSON BETEMIT (Not Jose Molina) being placed on the DL to make room. I wonder if that means that Molina's condition isn't too bad. Also noteworthy is the fact that Moeller would have to clear waivers to return to Scranton, and idk the likelihood of that. I know the Yankees like him a lot in Scranton after the job he did in Spring Training, and to this point with the Scranton staff (been very good, including Kei Igawa, surprisingly). Should be interesting to see how the roster shapes up in the next 2 weeks.
  23. ok cool, thanks. Bets of luck to Harlan and the family.
  24. Does this qualify him to be placed on the bereavement list,or does it need to be a death? I don't mean to seem insensitive, but it would be good to be able to bring someone up for the time being.
