As for Small, there is no doubt that he has been great for us this year. But I have to think he's going to be booted from the rotation in favor of Mussina. If you think about it, hes really not lights out anymore, seems like the league has caught up to him a little (and this isnt taking anything away from Small, im happy I was wrong about him because I was NOT in favor of calling him up to replace Brown.) because his last 2 starts have been against bad teams (lets be realstic, the Rays and Orioles are bad teams. Theyre not horrible but they definately arent good.) and he has given up runs. The only reason he won his last 2 games is because we rallied for him (Devil Rays, Cano GS) or just gave him a lot of run support (yesterday). If he stays in the rotation he would be on tap to face Boston on that last Friday, and I can honestly say that I would not be comfortable, based on his recent starts, with him throwing to the Red Sox in a game that huge. So I say we stick him in the pen, and if Wright struggles in his next start, flip-flop them. Wright would be good to have in the pen with his power arm, but based on his starts since coming off the DL he has been fantastic, so even though he got hurt last time out he deserves to stay in the rotation for now.
