No way they do that. If Soriano is not willing to play CF during the regular season what makes u think he would do it in international play. There are very loose requirements for what team you want to play for. I think its something like a grandparent has to have been born/lived in the country or something like that

you're right, because my Fordham Rams are going to overcome their 1-5 start and dominate the A10, then they are going to get a Tourney bid, and then advance to the Final Four, then beat Duke in the finals. PLease, no insults, i'm just a lowly Rams fan who needs to get my kicks some how considering the sorry excuse for a Basketball Program we have. My College Teams Fordham Rams St. Johns Red Storm Manhatten College Jaspers Any of those teams get a bid it will have been a good year for me. OK, sorry to interupt the Duke/UConn discussion

Being an Italian-American it is nice to see that Italia has put together a decent team of Italian-Americans, including Mike Piazza and David Dellucci. I cant choose between the Dominicans, Cubans, Japanese, or Americans. but one of them will go home with the Gold.

I had a feeling this would happen. Though I must admit that over the course of the last week or so I was a little doubtful, with all of the Cardinal rumors and whatnot.

If you have read any of my posts regarding this matter, I have said time and time again that I want Lo Duca so that he could split time with Posada and allow Posada some DH time. I also pointed out how valueable Lo Duca is due to his versatility, he can play 1B and the corner outfiled positions as well as catch. Versatility is something the Yankees have lacked in recent years, and those are the reasons I wanted Lo Duca, not because I dont like Posada. Maybe you werent aware, if Posada starts 81 games behind the plate (which he will with Kelly Stinnett as his backup) a $12mil option for 2007 automatically gets put into place. $12mil is a lot for Posada. And dont ever again question my loyalty, I am the most loyal person on here. I cant believe a fan of the team who trade guys like Nomar Garciaparra and kicks the Roger Clemenses of the world out of the door after they have done so much for your franchise. In all the threads regarding the Yankees trading Posada or something I have been very vocal in wanting Posada to be a part of the Yankees for a long time.

That is a point I was trying to make in the other thread regarding this topic. You my friend, are an absolute IDIOT. He bought the Yankees for $10 million, today they are a multi-billion dollar company. He ran a very successful ship company for many years. He makes money hand over foot. To say that he is a bad businss man is ludicrous. You need to grow up and give the Yankees (or anyone having anything to do with the Yankees) their props when they are deserved. I have no problem praising the Red Sox when they deserve it but under no circumstances will you not put down a Yankee, a Yankee official, or the Yankee organization. George Steinbrenner is a better business man then a lot of the owners out there, and he is far and beyond the galaxy a better business man than you.

I agree, good move for the Tribe IMO

I dont see how having him hurts us, as he is a versatile player being able to play the Outfield and the Middle Infield, and not to mention he is percentage wise the top base stealer in baseball throughout his career (among active players). I think he is our Dave Roberts, just a little better. But it is unlikely he will be back as he is really our top Major League trading chip.
-
Maybe they just got him to ship him to us for Tony Womack wishful thinking
-
this sucks! I wanted Lo Duca for the Yankees. Why couldnt the goddam Mets just stick to Hernandez or Molina.

To the Yankees: How to balance a check book.

Pretty lame attempt at sarcasm I think :/ -

Even though it says the Yanks only made 60mil off the YES Network, that is incorrect. That is only the official number of the television rights. George owns the network, more than half of the profits go to him and his family. And not to mention all the sponsors and whatnot. Believe me, while we may be in Luxury Tax trouble, the Yankees and George Steinbrenner are not losing money. And if they are, it is not very much. -
Another one of those 'get to know you' things

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rick White says he is close to signing with either the Yankees or the Red Sox. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05338/617018.stm Personally, I think this is a load of s***, he claims to be close to signing with two teams. And the two teams happen to be the top 2 teams in the league. I think he is just saying that to drive up the other bidders' bids. But if it is in fact true, I do not like it. We dont need another righty. I will admit, that I like him, but just for the fact that he wears numbers like 88 and 00. The only way I would be ok with this is if it was a Minor League deal with a ST invite. Other than that I dont want this guy.

Even though we had heard talks of this the last few days I was surprised to hear of it. NOt too sure how I feel about it, but one thing is for sure..they have a hell of a SS position. Furcal and a healthy Izturis make for one hell of a shortstop.
-
That is a pretty scary lineup.
-
Kyle Farnsworth > Tanyon Sturtze Kyle Farnsworth > Scott Proctor Thats why this is a good move. I agree, I would love to see Matt SMith on the opening day roster. BUt fact of the matter is, he's not proven yet, so I think the Yankees have an obligation to sign Myers (or someone else). But of Matt Smith outplays them in Spring Training, I give it to him all the way. Drop the other guy.

Who would catch Wakefield? As I recall, Tek isnt the man for that job.

very very nice! Cant wait to see that fastball in pinstripes!

that whole thing about NL pitchers going to the AL really only applies to starters. Relievers in the NL dont face pitchers, they face pinch hitters. So its not like they get a free out or something.
-
I agree, though I would have liked to have Gordon back.
-
Im not surprised it happened, but I kind of expected him to re-sign. All I know is that this puts more pressure on us to get this thing wrapped up with Farnsworth. And him and his agent know that, thats why Texas is in the picture.

Sean Henn is a good pitcher throughout his minor league career. He has the potential to be a very good pitcher throughout his Major League career. You cant base his entire career on 2 starts (1 relief appearance), its not fair. Most every pitcher struggles in his first few career starts. Like AlexanderTheGreat said, this is a no brainer to me. Although I am opposed to trading away prospects, Pierre is a guy that would fit perfectly here for a few years until Melky is ready. He is a top leadoff, top base stealer, great speed, very good defender. Works for me. Now as we all know he had a terrible season last year (despite something like 57 SB's) and getting him would be taking a risk, but I feel it is worth it. Go for it! Also, this would get brownie-points with Steinbrenner, remember how much he wanted Peirre, especially after the 2004 World Series. He even signed Kenny Lofton to be his version of Juan Pierre (that one didnt quite work out).
