  1. Nice stats jerky. ERA+ of 98, 126, 98. That's two years below league average. That was done during the prime of his career. Going into his age 33 season, after his age 27 year in pinstripes and his ERA+ of 92 and horrid playoff performance you trust him to NOW be an above average pitcher? He has had one season of being an above average pitcher...one in the AL.
  2. Go to NYYfans.net or w/e can get banned in 5 seconds for being a Sox fan.
  3. diony, can you please explain to me using pertenant statistics that Javier Vazquez will be solid above average SP in 2010..?
  4. The Mets needed to make some sort of splash this offseason. They lost Delgado this offseason and any viable catching option. Their offense last year was so putrid I believe they had to sign Bay or Holliday as Citifield would be as barren as Shea. As the point goes to show a winning product brings fans in moreso than a fancy new park. Bay won't last the 5 years of his contract...moreso like the Pedro contract 3 years then he'll break down.
  5. Thinking Vazquez will have his 2009 in 2010 by going from the NL to the AL. From Turner Field to Yankee Stadium. That sir is flat out stupid. He'll be an equal to Joba's numbers from last year (except for the IP amount) or worse.
  6. I'd like to imagine that if Dice K isn't on the DL for 50% of the season, if Beckett isn't dealing with his health issues last year, if Drew's back didn't act up...if Lowell wasn't recovering from a more serious surgery than ARod so on and so forth and we were as lucky health wise as the Yankees, it would have been much closer. Can someone explain to me how Matsui's and Damon's production is filled with Granderson and a ? in LF? There were no improvements (sorry I don't consider Vazquez an improvement) to the rotation or the pen...I'm confused how did the Yankees improve? Please provide some sort of comparable explanation of how Cabrera, Damon and Matsui's production is filled with Granderson and Johnson. Anyways.......yea.
  7. Agreed, and what I'm saying is that road games don't really matter. The Sox last year did play badly on the road in comparison to their home games. However, once you make it to the dance, it doesn't matter.
  8. Games 6 & 7, 2004 ALCS, WoW that mystique and aura worked off...go home field!
  9. I hope they sign him.
  10. Any team with finanical flexability would do that, but think about it, the Tigers also gave up Edwin Jackson in the trade and only had a 3.61 ERA last year and a WHIP of 1.26. A career year, and they gave up him and the most reconizable player in the organization outside of Justin Verlander. Sure the Tigers got: Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, Max Scherzer, and Daniel Schlereth. But how many of them are actually quality arms. Schlereth is a medicore LHH specialist, as is Phil Coke who will now apparently be stretched out as a LHSP. Scherzer shows great promise and until Jackson's power outage in AAA, he seemed like a good prospect as well. Granderson was only 28 years old, entering his prime and Jackson was 26. They did get back two promising players, But no sure things... I wouldn't say the deals make sense player wise since there is no real "top prospect" being sent their way outside of Scherzer for two very quality players who aren't all that expensive.
  11. Personally I welcome back Javier to New York, as a bust in any major game (please review Ozzie's comments as well as Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS)...He's a flyball / strike out pitcher who will get destroyed in the new Yankee Stadium. In 2004 his K's were down playing in the AL East and that was even before Tampa Bay started to excel. Vazquez will be a bigger bust this year than he was in 2004. /congrats.
  12. The Vazquez deal wasn't as much as a salary dump and after his 2004 2nd Half numbers, I welcome him back to the AL East, especially as a fly ball pitcher to the New Yankee Stadium. The Granderson deal was a steal from a team in the worst economic market in the United States...
  13. If by some way Bay does come back to the Sawx, Ellsbury is not guaranteed to be moved. What needs to happen is a deal of Mike Lowell. And I'm very dissatisified with Lowell's decision to get the thumb corrected now and not back in October after the playoffs were over.
  14. Sign Aroldis Chapman ---- Forgot about that one, as the rest of you did. Also looking into things, I'd also like to think about if the Lowell trade goes through forgetting about Kotchman, he's a back up..Martinez at 1B and Ramirez behind the plate...
  15. Says what it is...who makes your all century line up. Please include your top player per position, best LHSP and RHSP and best reliever of the decade. Personally I'll start off with the pitching first. Reliever Mariano Rivera LHSP Randy Johnson RHSP Pedro Martinez Catcher Joe Mauer First Base Albert Pujols Second Base Jeff Kent Short Stop Derek Jeter Third Base Chipper Jones Left Field Barry Bonds Center Field Carlos Beltran Right Field Bobby Abreau
  16. For me it's just a trade for Adrain Gonzalez. Hanley Ramirez is not projected to last at SS due to his horrible hands. He makes way too many errors and has never really hit well from the # 3 spot in a line up. Great/amazing talent, but he's not a good fit for the Red Sox currently.
  17. 2011 Key Free Agents (as of today): Catcher Victor Martinez Joe Mauer First Base Garrett Atkins Lance Berkman Adam Dunn Jorge Cantu Carlos Pena Albert Pujols (club option) Second Base David Eckstein Short Stop Derek Jeter Jose Reyes Jhonny Peralta Third Baseman Garrett Atkins Jorge Cantu Eric Chavez Bill Hall Mike Lowell Jhonny Peralta Aramis Ramirez Scott Rolen Left Field Carl Crawford Jason Kubel Manny Ramirez David DeJesus Centerfield NONE Right Field Brad Hawpe Jayson Werth DH David Ortiz Jason Kubel Pat Burrell Hideki Matsui Starting Pitchers Josh Beckett Joe Blanton Jeremy Bonderman Matt Cain (vesting option) Jorge De La Rosa Jeff Francis (club option) Rich Harden Aaron Harang Hiroki Kuroda Cliff Lee Ted Lilly Kevin Millwood Andy Pettite Javier Vazquez Brandon Webb Chris Young (club option) Relievers Brian Fuentes (vesting option) Trevor Hoffman (mutual option) Chad Qualls Mariano Rivera Billy Wagner (vesting options) Kerry Wood (club option) Huston Street Rafael Soriano J.J. Putz Grant Balfour Dan Wheeler (club option) Jeremy Affeldt pedro Feliciaion J.C. Romero (club option) That's whats available after next season potentially. If we don't make the upgrade this offseason it's treading for potentionally longer.
  18. Beltre and his sub .700 OPS is NOT worth anything more than $4 million per year. I'd rather take a player such as Brandon Phillips with a B level prospect and plug him in at 3B over Beltre.
  19. Kenny Williams is worse...
  20. How about all of you shut up and get back on topic?
  21. Josh Fields was a top rated prospect by Baseball America who was never truly given a shot to play everyday, and had his position on a field swapped in and out on a day to day basis and was put behind the aweful Joe Crede. Blowing 6 saves is nothing horrible. Brian Fuentes had 7 and Joe Nathan had 5. Those are two of the best closers in baseball. Vazquez did have one outstanding season with an ERA+ if 126 and two seasons at an ERA+ of 98. He won 42 games in 3 seasons with the White Sox and he hurled at minimum 208 IP per season. He was far from horrible. No pitcher really does well pitching at home in Chicago, as it's one of the top 3 "homer domes" in baseball (along with the new Yankee Stadium and the Great American Ballpark in Cincinatti). More to come when I get home...
  22. And playing in the NL and PETCO will surely help. Clayton Richard was a top level prospect and Poreda has some great upside to him. Both pitchers are fairly young and have a lot of room to improve and grow. And how many starts did he have in 2009? Uh-oh I see a trend of decreasing GS and Peavy has never really been a horse in terms of IP. Ken Williams has made multiple deals that made little to zero sense. From his handling of Nick Swisher to Jim Thome's trade to his handling of Josh Fields and Javier Vazquez. He's doing the same thing to Bobby Jenks at the moment. It's seriously a wonder as to how they won a World Series with him. I forgot the topic I started off w/ but Kenny Williams is a complete moron.
  23. That's NOT a good sign. The Yankees took some hits with Matsui/Damon leaving but you can rest assured see them add something.
  24. Emmz do you have a link to that statement for the expansion of payroll, I'd love to see the Twinkies finally get some green loving. If they do expand, there is no way that Mauer is leaving. They'd be able to keep both Morneau and Mauer. And my idea is down the toilet. I'd love to see the Twins land a FA over Boston or NY, would finally bring a good team run by a decent GM in the AL Central that has $$ to spend (Yes I think Ken Williams is a moron).
