  1. One year. We are talking about OBP skills. He was average at best in the minors. With a line of: .294/.347/.422/.769 vs .278/.355/.384/.739 Why should I believe that he will continue his pace of OBP that is higher than anything he did in the minors minus one year of A ball of a .383 OBP? Why?
  2. It will be an incentive laden contract, although after Matt Murton's 2nd half performance, I wonder why they need another OFer.
  3. STATS?! .294/.347/.422/.769 That's his career minor league line. I wouldn't call him a MLB OFer by 4 years in the minors off of that line.
  4. Not to mention that Shawn Green has been on a STEEP decline since what 2003? Brandon Inge has a dropping OPS each of the last two years, and has barely broken an .800 OPS. Michael Young was never a patient hitter. Ever.
  5. I'll go with the years before this one year.
  6. I was wrong on Cabrera being only a LHH, I had read an article on Torre wanting Cabrera to give up RHH. Michaels is still in the prime of his career...and Cabrera's OBP skills last year were an anomolly.
  7. So his entire minor league career was just a bluff? Are you serious. Cabrera will be nothing more than a 4th OFer. Someone compared him to Jose Cruz JR, and they, in my opinion are very well on the right idea, except Cruz at least at one point was a switch hitter. I don't see him becoming anything more than Jason Michaels. Michaels also has insane OBP skills, and a good arm in the OF but was a career 4th OFer because he had zero pop in his bat.
  8. Murphy is as good as gone. To where is a question. I've heard Florida and Texas have been interested. But at age 25, I'm not sure how big of a prospect we'd get back.
  9. I saw that on rotoworld as well. Although I'm tempted to say that would be the ideal guy for the Sox to go after, I'm not high on giving up what they'd want. I'm sure Hart (the jackass) would want Buchholz. Personally I think if they'd take a deal with David Murphy and/or Brandon Moss as the centerpiece I'd be much more in favor of it.
  10. Owned.
  11. It's said on rotoworld that the three way deal isn't happening, and there have been no talks. And if it were just a Yankee/Pirate deal it would be Gonzalez for Proctor/Cabrera.
  12. And Schilling and Beckett both tossed 200 IP. Matsuzaka is the ideal durable SP. Wakefield is an IP eater, and still nabbed out 140 IP with only 23 GS. Papelbon is the only "question mark" for durability but was a solid SP in the minors.
  13. Just to point out Randy Johnson you said right off the bat is durable, then talked about his surgeries, and neglected to talk about the fact he has no cartilidge in one of his knees. I do not think the Yankees will get more IP out of their SP than the Sox. I think the Sox rotation is superior in youth and longevity. The Yankees however do have a better pen, up and down.
  14. How about Crisp, Edgar Martinez and Tavarez for Lidge and Lane?
  15. I wouldn't call Wang Last year Wang was much better. If you did potential it would be Wang Beckett.
  16. That's one argument the Mussina > Schilling one that I argued. Mussina in the last three years has had elbow problems, that restricted him to sub ERA+ (below a 100 ERA+). Then he came out of nowhere last year with that season. Last season they were only 9 ERA+ points apart. I'd still call them a wash.
  17. In another forum, that is litered with Yankee trash...well...they are arguing that the Yankee rotation is actually better than the Red Sox rotation. Mussina = Schilling Wang > Beckett (not on potential) Pettite Johnson Igawa/Pavano That's at least how I view it and I think I do it without bias. But they then are contingent to argue that Karstens and Rasner are good back up options if one of their starters is injured. Which I disagree with, since Hughes will almost be the top choice to be called up. Anyways, what do you guys think?
  18. First off, forget about Clemens for now. Secondly, Piniero would be in the AAA rotation if we signed him or competing for the closer's job. Period.
  19. How are we so sure of ourselves on Pedroia? .305/.384/.426/.810 In 423 AB's in 111 games in AAA and a sub Mendoza line in 91 AB's at the MLB level. I'm by no means ready to just say "Hey Dustin, here's a starting job on one of the most prestigous teams ever. Don't worry about your average year at AAA or your s*** job at the MLB level!" Let's be serious. He's not 25 yet, he could benefit from another year of AAA. His OBP will stay with him at the MLB level, but I'd like to see a little more pop at AAA before we make him a full time player at the MLB level.
  20. Well first off, nice avatar. . .you know he's a Met right (sarcasm)... Anyways, RJ didn't tear his ankle tendon, nor did he pitch the Yankees to a world series victory.
  21. He's getting the start today against Chen. What do we expect guys?
  22. With our pen, who has seen any members of the revamped staff out there. I just read about Riske/Seanez, but what about other members of it. Arroyo has been horrid statistically. What about Papelbon? Timlin? How are they looking. Stats in ST aren't everything. How are the breaking pitches looking....I'm really interested to hear about that.
