  1. So what's Hanley hitting in AA? I'll give you a hint, it's worse than the much-maligned Renteria. It seems the ones that are the most gung-ho about calling up prospects to replace reasonably productive major leaguers are the ones that tend to know the least about them. Hanley isn't going to be ready to start next season. We're lucky if he's ready to be a productive regular for 2007.
  2. Sorry, I meant to spell it out. Embree has "straightened out" plenty of times this year. It's always preceeded another meltdown. Those little pictures of fires, and stuff exploding are representative of Embree s***ing the bed over and over. Below them, are dates of good outings. Outings, in which he came out of the bullpen and pitched well. The anecdotal evidence that Embree is turning a corner is no different than the plenty of good games he's pitched in between godawful outings, where I'm sure a satisfied viewer has sat back and felt that maybe Embree was back, or maybe some poor soul posted on a message board about Embree turning it around. http://aduckie.homestead.com/files/toast.jpg

  4. I said, how about you suck my balls Mr. Garrison.
  5. I've been able to set my watch to the Yankee pitcher's injuries this season. Keeps perfect time. Only had one problem with it so far, sometimes I'll set it forward 3 minutes, and it will end up losing 4.
  6. I may have misspelled it before, but because Alex Cora is the utility infielder. He was at third base because he's the utility infielder. If you haven't been noticing, Graffanino is the starting 2nd baseman, not the utility infielder, which is Cora's job. They're giving him reps at third because he is the utility infielder on the Boston Red Sox. They need to find out at some point if their utility infielder can handle 3rd base in game situations, and decided to do so with a flyball pitcher on the mound. It didn't work out. This thread would have been a bit more valid had it not been done with the benefit of hindsight.
  7. I'm guessing he was at third because he's the utility infielder. Just a guess.
  8. How many games are left until rosters expand?
  9. Comparing positional by position is ridiculous. The Red Sox are a better team, no breakdown needed.
  10. No, the Red Sox shouldn't make a snap decision on a Rule 5 pick do to some rookie mistakes. If every team was so quick to judge, no pick would ever stick on a big league club. Considering the lack of quality minor league OF depth, the team can't really afford not to hold onto Stern. Yeah, it's sucked that he's gotten picked off, but if his strength really is his baserunning, why in the world would you not attribute the gaffes to jitters? And you're not putting in a worse bat when you pinch run Millar for Stern. You're putting in a better baserunner (believe it or not), while upgrading defensively at first (when Olerud isn't DL'ed) or at the very least putting in a bat that could be expected to do as well as Millar has this season (Petagine). And sorry to nitpick, but it's "Rule 5".
  11. That's my I put "cudgling". Look it up. Ha.
  12. My name is Steve. I like short walks on the beach, cudgeling by the fireplace, and movies that elicit some sort of human emotion. I like whatever you like, and I'll say all the things you want to hear if you type up a script I can dictate back to you.
  13. So if they continue to win games at an 80 percent clip, they won't make the playoffs. Oh-kay.
  14. I heard it was his dealer.
  15. They are. Woe is you.
  16. Year Ag Tm Lg Pos G PO A E DP FP lgFP RFg lgRFg RF9 lgRF9 GS Inn LF CF RF +--------------+---+----+------+----+----+----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+----+------+----+----+----+ Position Total P*1252 61 188 4 13 .984 .955 0.20 0.58 4 1295.0 OF 1 1 0 0 0 1.000 .979 1.00 1.80 0 0 1
  17. And all better than 2005 Embers.
  18. He did that a total of once.
  19. You'd only lose the DH if you put the DH in the field.
  20. Wells isn't on the Yankees anymore, guy. I wonder what The Yankee Republik's thoughts of Embree are so far.
  21. Um, dude, he's saying they were good before they got there (Pettitte excluded). Nothing was ever insinuated that they were bad, just that Stottlemyre should get no credit for them pitching well.
  22. When do reporters give sources, when typically that player is asking to remain anonymous? And do the Yankees disallow phone rights while a player is DL'ed? Vic Darensbourg, Ivan Rodriguez, and Nate Robertson are all former teammates of Pavano.
  23. I'm not just imagining that you could swap lefty and righty specialist relievers at will if they're at first and on the mound respectively, correct?
  24. Can't complain. Good pitcher that gives his all every time out. An idiot, and one of the most competitive pitchers in baseball. Not really anything that wasn't known before he came to the team. "Does it bother you that there was a lot of speculation that he would rather be in the Bronx." Does it bother you that he's a lot better than Al Leiter?
