  1. I'd have to disagree here. I believe a teams defense needs to be built up the middle (SS, 2B, CF)....they should be your top defensive players. Thats just my opinion though. Considering his age he would need to continue the high production to give the Red Sox no choice but to promote him. After a month it could be he is just hot at the moment.
  2. Jay Payton would probably hate that deal. Once Sheffield gets back and the Yanks realize he is no better than Crosby or Cabrera what then? He goes to the bench and gets angry. I can't believe Cashman would trade a prospect for Jay Payton.
  3. Well I think everyone on this site is deserving of the tickets but I'll throw in my two cents. For the record SFoC this is a fantastic contest considering how much some people are struggling with the current weather. I guess I would actually like to win the tickets for my father and not myself. My family lives on the coast in NH and most areas have been evacuated where they are. His company has been in business for 22 years and has been flooded. They do not have flood insurance like most businesses in the northeast because of the outrageous price. This turn of events pretty much destroyed his company so I'm not sure what he will do now. On top of that his mother passed away on Wednesday. She was 78 years old and died from cancer. A very loving woman and I will miss her very much. Needless to say my father has had possibly the toughest week in his life next to the time he was diagnosed with brain cancer. I'm happy to say though I will be graduating from college in a couple weeks and despite all the trouble...its the only thing he can talk about. Good luck to everyone in the contest and everyone running into problems with the flooding I wish you the best for a strong recovery. Incase people were curious what his company is...they make exercise equipment and he is a consultant for Riddell. 85% of the players in the NFL will be wearing my fathers shoulder pads next season....heres hoping the injuries drop a large margin compared to seasons past.
  4. I think he hits #756 before Hank Aaron does. In other words I think Albert has a chance to break Aaron's record. If he can stay relatively healthy throughout his career with minor set-backs he has a great chance to be the best home-run hitter of all time. I guess if there was anyone worthy (and there are very few) I wouldn't mind Pujols getting the honor.
  5. At this juncture Wright is practically more valuable than Randy Johnson. But its still early guys....Matt Clement could get hot for a couple starts and bring his ERA back down to around 4.50. Thats still not anything amazing but you still have to consider he is a back of the rotation guy. Every now and then he can be lights out and although it wasn't a great game against Texas...in most efforts he would have been keeping us in that game. Right now I would love to see David Wells come in, be healthy, and push Clement down to the #5 spot in the rotation. If that occurs then its now Clement's job to lose while a minor-league prospect attempts to make the jump. Chances are you will see Matt Clement on this team for the rest of the season unless injuries occur or some team is crazy to make a deal.
  6. I'd have to say Holtz and Dustan Mohr. With Will Mo Pena going back to platoon partner with Nixon we have no use for Dustan Mohr. Maybe Willie Harris takes off when Crisp comes back or maybe DiNardo....the Sox are looking to keep Seanez because he has a chance to get hot from time to time.
  7. A lot of people are talking about Dontrelle Willis but is anyone else scared off by his stats this month? He is getting crushed and I'm not sure if its because his team sucks or he just isn't pitching well. I might be one of the few here but I want to keep Jon Lester and I think the Red Sox do too. He is getting better with every start in AAA and his velocity is increasing. By midseason I see no reason the kid could be "lights-out" in the minors and give us a very good, young, electric 5th starter incase we have the need. By the time he enters the majors he will have a three major league pitches that can get batters out plus a few secondary pitches.
  8. I'm confused and hopefully someone can clarify....how did Tim Wakefield get the win??? ...nevermind answered my own questions
  9. As I was saying....if Mark Loretta and Kevin Youkilis have a good game....we should do well great bullpen battle...with the results i was expecting
  10. He's not.....remove that and I'll say....meh maybe he's one of the best but I'm still not sure
  11. Did you just call A-Rod the greatest player in baseball history??....someone is high tonight
  12. Guess I was right about Melky Cabrera....I think Bubba Crosby is starting in place of him tonight.
  13. Thats a real decent game. Thats now two good games in a row for him.....I just hope he keeps it up and doesnt have any set backs. 98 mph is unusual for him....its still early in the year and if his fastball is going to increase its velocity...wow. I'm excited.
  14. I would expect another close game but thats what I thought between Beckett and Johnson. You really think Cabrera can hit Wake?? Has he ever faced a knuckleball before?? If not I find that hard to believe but anything is possible. I would expect more of the same from the Yanks lineup where the top of the order does well. As far as the Red Sox....if Youkilis and Loretta can have big games then the Red Sox should score well. Overall I think whichever pitcher can throw strikes and not get in trouble with the count and walks will win the game.
  15. I swear if its not one thing its something else......speaking of.....is anyone still worried about David Ortiz ability to hit?? Didn't think so....is it necessary to bring up such stupid speculation as to constant problems on the baseball team. I am perfectly happy with the way things are going thus far.
  16. Yeah he's made a living off one pitch but also his ability to never get injured and post closer innings year after year. Thats the one thing I find interesting about Papelbon...he's a beast and has the attitude where we wants to shut down the game. I'm leaning toward leaving him in the bullpen permanently but one problem.... the few times he has been a starter he has not failed
  17. As far as tomorrow is concerned......Tito better make an attempt to win the damn game....I want to see Willy Mo Pena in the lineup and NOT Willie Harris....its not like Pena needed a day off for christ sakes....get him as many at-bats as possible before Crisp gets back.
  18. Make a Yankee game thread in a Yankee forum
  19. I'd just assume Yankee fans never post
  20. Next time will probably come when Randy Johnson pitches again
  21. first time for everything.....the way he looks now i wouldnt expect it to happen often Even Dustan Mohr and Alex Gonzalez had hits before Johnny Damon
  22. That was really embarassing wasn't it....didn't matter who was in the game for us...they got hits and it didn't matter who pitched for you...they sucked
  23. this game is over and I'm not impressed with the pitching of Schilling.....I would have expected him to be more prepared for this game
  24. Whats with Willie Harris still being in the game....get Willy Mo's bat in the damn lineup
  25. Number of Red Sox Wins: 4 Number of Red Sox Hore Runs: 6 Number of Red Sox Runs Scored : 40 Your Pick ( Total of all Three ) : 50
