  1. I'm still not sold on giving up Jacoby Ellsbury....him and Lars Anderson are the only two non-pitching prospects I'm not excited about giving up. I'm not interested in giving up Clay Buchholz either. Other than that...Hansen, Delcarmen, Gabbard, Crisp, Pena, Moss, Murphy, Bowden, Pauley....I don't mind that much. I'm sure Theo has looked into adding Saltallsajskjdkns service. The Red Sox stick there nose in most players that are said to be available.
  2. wow ....anyone have a clue how long that rain is lasting?
  3. How many double plays is that in two games?? Terry should do something to get these guys fired up again
  4. Apparently the Yankees are only geared up when they play us. Amazing how they can look so pathetic against everyone else.
  5. Joe Buck and friend are already making my ears bleed
  6. This seems to have turned into Brandon Moss vs. Jacoby Ellsbury I like both players and both are posting good numbers in AAA. Here is how I see it...which one would have a better chance of keeping a job when JD Drew comes back? You can bet your ass that Brandon Moss will go back down. However, say the Red Sox bring up Ellsbury and move Coco to Drew's spot....if Ellsbury performs the way I think he would and gets hot....he may never leave CF I think Brandon Moss would do a fine job to fill in but I'm also thinking on behalf of improving the club. I'm not a huge Coco Crisp fan (his bat sucks). Ellsbury can probably steal just as many bases as Coco and have a higher batting average, not to mention the defense would still be decent. I'm also thinking on the fact Julio Lugo isn't much of a leadoff man. I don't believe in coddling players as much as some do. Jacoby Ellsbury is 23 years old, played college baseball, succeeded at every level, if the kid is that good....let him do it.
  7. IF the Red Sox are smart they would bring up their best outfielder...Jacoby Ellsbury
  8. You have to think though...at what point does Josh Beckett finally get a lose? And when does Andy Pettite's record start reflecting his ERA?
  9. Lots of right handed batters. Not much you can do though....I bet you the Red Sox stick with Eric Hinske and Wily Mo taking up the at bats if Drew is out for a length of time. Get used to it everyone....this is what JD Drew does and we will have it for another 5 years.
  10. Very well 2005 Chicago White Sox Buehrle 16-8 Garcia 14-8 Contreras 15-7 Garland 18-10 Hernandez/McCarthy 12-11 That is a Championship rotation. Again you are right you can get away with a .500 pitcher in the #5 hole....but we have Wakefield and Tavarez
  11. Last season 2005 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff: Carpenter 21-5 Marquis 13-14 Mulder 16-8 Suppan 16-10 Morris 14-10 Thats the kind of rotation record I want.....sure you can make a comparison of Wakefield to Marquis....but we also have Tavarez who won't have a winning record as a starter
  12. At what point to the Red Sox say goodbye to Tim Wakefield and Doug Mirabelli ....great guys....but I'm not feeling it anymore from them
  13. I'd much rather see Kason Gabbard pitching in our rotation than Tim Wakefield....or Clay Buchholz....or Jon Lester
  14. Can we get Tim Wakefield out of the game before he puts this game out of reach
  15. Its been exhausting watching Tim Wakefield lately
  16. I have a question for those who have seen extensive clips from Dice-K off youtube or on TV. I see a clip of Dice-K from the WBC where he throws a pitch to a lefty batter from Cuba. The ball starts right at him then dives down and to the right all the way across the plate. It is the extreme case of "nasty" pitch and I'm still trying to figure out what it is? It looks like the movement from his changeup I saw a couple times but until now....I haven't seen him throw a pitch like that. I also saw a clip of him throwing to a batter that resembles Tadahito Iguchi. This pitch looks like a splitter (wrong grip though when you watch in slow motion) and it dives SHARP down and a little to the right....completely unhittable. Where are these pitches? Is it the ball? Is he saving this for when he becomes more accustomed to the league? Was it a fluke?
  17. I agree, I wouldn't spend the money on those guys when the player in AAA costs a fraction of the salary those players will demand and will produce at a high level. I still believe Ellsbury will see the All Star game a few times in his career.
  18. Dice K needs an "out pitch" He may have one but last night I saw a lot of counts 1-2 and 0-2. Clearly in his favor so he is getting ahead of batters but not putting them away. Johan Santana goes to the changeup, Curt Schilling goes to the splitter, Randy Johnson goes to the slider, etc. You know its coming but there is still nothing you can do about it. I thought Dice-Ks best pitch was his changeup and I rarely see it (I think he struggles trying to locate it). If he can use that pitch, his splitter, slider, whatever....as an "out pitch" he could be the best pitcher in the league...especially if he can somehow get all of them working like he did in Japan.
