  1. I don't think Lester has hit 97 MPH in his life....just as I feel he's never hit 95 MPH which has been mentioned. Highest I've ever seen from him is 93 MPH
  2. location location location
  3. I still haven't seen anything that is talking about a move which involves any of these players.
  4. Good post. I agree a teams farm system should be ranked on those players who came up through the system and are making an impact in the league....after all thats what matters and should be considered the big test if a player is that good.
  5. That was the first thing that came to my mind. It would be interesting to hear any grumblings about scouts being present at the game.
  6. There is still plenty of hope for Craig Hansen. There are plenty of closers in the game at this moment...who had seasons in the minors and majors where they struggled trying to find there "stuff"....it takes time to find your tempo, mechanics, arm slot, whatever but once it clicks the reliever can start focusing on how to attack hitters. Jonathan Papelbon is our closer so perhaps we don't need Craig Hansen as a closer....but wouldn't it be nice if he put up "closer like numbers" in the future. We have all seen how valuable Hideki Okajima has been this season. If Craig Hansen can eventually become that player then we have a long history ahead of us with a great 1-2 punch at the end of a game. ...I also don't think the book is closed on the possibility of Papelbon being in the rotation. Those questions will continue to rise when you look at the comparison of Papelbon to the likes of Clemens and Schilling (lethal fastball command with a filthy splitter).
  7. He has tremendous control of his high powered fastball and possibly the best splitter in the league....two guys immediately come to mind that had the same combination....Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens
  8. The Red Sox organization is a bunch of pussies when it comes to making bold moves. They were too afraid a solution wouldn't present itself during the season for a closer. What do you know....Okajima has been possibly the best reliever in the league this season. On top of that Manny Delcarmen is becoming a very dependable arm which could be a reliable setup man. Oh well you are right...too late and now we have major holes in our rotation and too many decent arms in the bullpen which aren't being used.
  9. Very true....he throws fastball and splitter....thats about it I've seen him throw a very average slider and attempt to throw a curve in spring training. His curves usually end up in the stands (Hunter's bomb still hasn't come down)
  10. Jon Lester sucks again tonight.....I'm starting to not care so much about him. David Pauley puts up the same numbers. Strange to think about it but....we talk about Clay Buchholz the same way we talked about Jon Lester last season. Maybe we should just trade these guys for proven players. I mean honestly....when is the last time we developed a Johan Santana, Roy Oswalt, Carlos Zambrano, Roy Halladay, etc....
  11. Lets trade our entire farm system, half our major league team, and Theo Epstein for Johan Santana
  12. Watch Julio Lugo become the hottest hitter in the league for the second half of the season....how funny would that be
  13. I will guarantee a Yankee win tonight so we better figure something out ...Lester is hanging tough in his outing tonight...hopefully they say enough with Tavarez and bring the kid up
  14. meanwhile Toronto is allowing Clemens and the Yankees to stay in the game.
  15. Manny gets on....chances of stringing a few in a row?....I'm not taking that bet
  16. Why didn't he attempt a throw? I f***en hate Drew
  17. hey look....Kansas City is starting to get something going on offense
  18. My two cents: Go get Mark Teixeira....all prospects are available except for Clay Buchholz. Jon Lester, Michael Bowden, Jacoby Ellsbury, Kevin Youkilis, Coco Crisp, Wily Mo Pena, Craig Hansen....whatever. If they make a mistake with a few of those prospects....no big deal because we get Mark Teixeira. By the time he becomes a free agent and we possibly loose him, we will have other prospects we will be talking up. More options will arise and the Red Sox will move on. The only reason I don't want to give up Clay Buchholz is because I have seen him pitch and understand his "stuff" is dominating. Some guys don't work out but he has a great chance of being an ace. Imagine what he will look like when he fills out. That 92-95 MPH fastball may pump up to 95-97 MPH. His change and curveball are probably the best in the system. In fact I think his curve is on par with Josh Beckett's. He may have the best change in the entire organization (although I'm still intrigued by Dice-Ks if he would use it more). I'd love to see the kid develop a splitter.
