  1. I'd love to see the Yankees ask him to come back and then Torre to leave....with Posada, Rivera, Pettite, and A-Rod just to stick it to the boss
  2. Papelbon would be excellent in the rotation or (obviously) as the closer. At the beginning of 2007 it was a different story. Nobody knew what would become of Jon Lester. We had to turn to Julian Tavarez being in the rotation. Now with Clay Buchholz, Lester becoming healthy, Hagadone, Bowden, and Masterson looking to make big steps....we have more options. Great for Jonathan Papelbon!
  3. The best catchers hitting free agency are 30+ and none come close to Jorge Posada. You can't replace him without a trade and there are few with any talent out there. Posada is the Yankees version of Jason Varitek and if you lose him without a backup plan....big issues. Yankees might have made a mistake with this one by not being prepared if they let him go. Mariano Rivera, once again with Joba going to the rotation and nobody ready to step in and take the closer role...big problem. Can't replace these guys with anyone in the free agent class and trades would have to be made. I know plenty of teams are willing to do the Yankees a favor but Cashman has a lot of work to do if he doesn't want this team to take a drastic step backwards. Then again he could keep all these players ($$) and coaches which we have seen only get you as far as the ALDS.
  4. Would he help the team?...sure he would. Can we win without him?...absolutly. Do we need A-Rod?....no we don't. So either way I think we have a competitive team but I would rather root for the Red Sox without Alex Rodriguez.
  5. go to youtube and look up the WEEI Roast on her.....funny as hell
  6. I'd be curious to see how surrounding players VORP or WARP change when A-Rod joins the team. I wouldn't be suprised if a good majority of them drop.
  7. If there is a reason the front office should not bring back Curt Schilling it should be one reason and one reason only.... Clay Buchholz However, I'm not worried about next season...Curt Schilling may be the greatest postseason pitcher ever and he has two more series to pad those stats. Big game pitchers are the best and he is certainly one of the best...I just wish he wouldn't talk so much.
  8. Sabathia should be pitching tonight in my opinion. He is a beast and I think he has the ability to pitch on short rest. Especially since he isn't the type of pitcher who strictly tries to overpower hitters. Works well for the Guardians should they win......but if they lose...... I have a feeling the Yanks find a way to take game 5. Any word Sabathia may be on hand should Byrd struggle??
  9. I feel bad for Cleveland fans......to these announcers its as if the Guardians don't exist.
  10. Derek Jeter on TV making a speech. Announcers saying "lets hear that Yankee crowd" When the Yankees score its a whole big deal but Trot Nixon hits a homer and its as if he made an out. Meanwhile Derek Jeter flies out and they call it an "excellent at bat"
  11. Is TBS supposed to support the Yankees? Is this supposed to be an unbiased broadcast or am I confused?
  12. still early....hope the Guardians can keep the Yankee bats silent
  13. I understand some people may not be too pleased with the Varitek stats (even though they are still good for a catcher) he brings much more to the table that stats can't explain. Last season Jason Varitek was injured and in turn, our pitching staff struggled and we missed the playoffs. Strange coincidence that the three years before that when he was healthy we made it to October baseball and now this season with a healthy Varitek we are off to the ALCS. BTW that is also my favorite Varitek moment. Changed the course of the season.
  14. The least you could do is spell Varitek's name correctly. As far as Varitek on the defensive side...he has caught 3 no hitters in his career and almost had a 4th with Schilling this season. How many catchers do you know call as good a game as Varitek? Also did you see the excellent catch he made today to get out of the bases loaded jam, could have changed the look of the game had he not made that play.
  15. Trot Nixon is just a great player. Always going to be one of my favorite players.
  16. Clearly it was the bugs that lost the game for the Yankees. While Joba might not have been able to handle it.....Fausto Carmona had those same insects all over him and he stepped up to the plate. Don't make excuses and point the finger, play your best and whatever happens will happen. Shut the hell up Steinbrenner you are embarassing yourself and your organization.
  17. This is what makes me sick about NY. Maybe Steinbrenner thinks this will give the team a kick in the ass but my god....Torre did a tremendous job this season to get the team back from the dead and make the playoffs. Somewhere it was determined its the Yankees god given right to win everything. It doesn't register to Steinbrenner that the Guardians might actually be a good team that deserves to win and should be given some kind of respect rather than threatening his team manager if they don't beat the Guardians. From what I've seen the Guardians are the team of "destiny" this season. They have finally put the pieces together and appear to be the team with a great all around pitching staff and dangerous lineup. If they beat the Yankees they should be commended and the Yankees should be congradulated on making a fantastic comeback. Instead Steinbrenner does what only he knows how to do.....threaten people with there jobs....it gets old after a while
  18. I lived in NYC for 6 months and its a city that makes you exhausted. The city never stops and its hard to get away if you want (since the city is enormous). Boston has loud bars, quite bars, upscale locations, places to go to get away...its nice. As far as these men beating up Red Sox fans....grow up, its just a game. Personally I hate Yankee fans but I love them as well....because without Yankee fans...baseball isn't as much fun
  19. Dice-K continues to suck "maybe" he will be better next season
  20. .314 BA = 25+ million 143 runs = 25+ million 54 HRs = 25+ million 156 RBI = 25+ million never getting it done in October = priceless
  21. Alex Rodriguez....I have no words....if he blows it again, no way he stays in NY and all those great numbers he put up this year.....worthless
  22. "Andy Pettite would have been safe from the bugs cause he was calm, cool, and collected".....give me a break....he gave up 7 hits and 2 walks through 6 innings....it could have gone horribly wrong for him
