  1. Thats not crazy....I agree with you. Adrian Gonzalez has huge upside on defense and offense. He has a real good bat and is only 23 years old. I would love to have Adrian and Youk split up some time at 1st and may the best man win.
  2. I wouldn't have a problem with Bronson Arroyo being the #5 starter until Miller gets back....give Miller a chance to get his act together....and if he can't then by that time Arroyo could fill in until Jon Lester is ready.
  3. I'm not sure. I like having Bronson as a long reliever and making spot starts. I like this deal if the Red Sox feel Wade Miller can come back and contribute effectively as our #5 starter. Otherwise I would rather go after Adrian Gonzalez who is younger with more power and good defense.
  4. How about a huge trade with Arizona along the lines of: Bos: Manny Ramirez (20M), David Wells (9M), & Kevin Youkilis Arz: Shawn Green (8M), Luis Gonzalez(10M), & Javier Vazquez(11M) ...money comes out even (going by last year though). Gives us a lineup of: 1. Johnny Damon (L) (CF) 2. Edgar Renteria ® (SS) 3. David Ortiz (L) (DH) 4. Luis Gonzalez (L) (LF) 5. Mike Lowell ® (3rd) 6. Shawn Green (L) (1st) 7. Jason Varitek (S) © 8. Trot Nixon (L) (RF) 9. Dustin Pedroia ® (2nd) .....would probably make us too left handed but...its a thought....or instead of either Green/Gonzalez we substitute Troy Glaus to play 1st. I might like that better: 1. Johnny Damon (L) (CF) 2. Edgar Renteria ® (SS) 3. David Ortiz (L) (DH) 4. Troy Glaus ® (1st) 5. Green/Gonzalez (L) (LF) 6. Mike Lowell ® (3rd) 7. Trot Nixon (L) (RF) 8. Jason Varitek (S) © 9. Dustin Pedroia ® (2nd)
  5. Alright who the hell called him a hall of famer???? I don't think anybody did and yes we are calling him an ace. I would like Josh Beckett to hear that so he understands the expectations....the man is cocky and arrogant....has some good veterans around him and a explosive offense. The pieces are set for this highly touted player to fully blossom into an all star.....its not just Boston by the way that is talking this trade up so much.
  6. The salary dump continues. Just saw on cbs.sportsline that Delgado is being traded to the Mets for Petit and Mike Jacobs.
  7. Red Sox are apparently interested in Adrian Gonzalez. I think he is a lefty (no positive) so that would be a good split between him and Youk at 1st. I'm suprised the Rangers would want to deal with us now but then again its not exactly our fault.
  8. If you notice...each year he logs more and more innings...could it be that he is becoming more healthy?? With all the injury problems the Red Sox have had don't you think they would be completely aware of the potential?? He found a solution to his blisters and from what I hear as you grow and throw...your hands gradually become more rough and the blisters go away...look at past pitchers who had the problem. If you are referring to injuries with his shoulder he has been cleared and pitched at the end of the season extremely well. Every year scouts believe this guy can be a 20 game winner. I remember the hype around him when he was drafted. I watched him pitch to Sammy Sosa (when he was on juice) and made the guy look completely foolish (some of you might remember the at-bat im talking about). I watched him dismantle the Yankees in the postseason. Now you are telling me at age 25 this man has too many injuries...he'll never be good like he was in 2003??? If that is the case then Yankee fans are either the dumbest baseball fans in the country or they are just bitter. I was posting here last night and was hoping this morning I would check and see a Yankee fan posting who came over from the NL to the AL and struggled. I STILL have not seen a single name. You say Beckett is only 7 games over .500....he plays for the Marlins....not only that but he has only had three full seasons.....what do you expect the guy to be 20 games over .500. I'm excited to see what his record will be this season with our offense. So apparently we have an 25 year old kid, wrecked with injuries who has passed his time and is basically garbage. ......BTW I've never said anything about NL pitchers sucking when them come to the AL...I always blamed it on the Yankees for treating there pitchers like crap....makes sense considering I still don't have any other names.
  9. Just keep dancing around the question....name pitchers??? you must be digging real deep if you dont have any names yet.
  10. I'm still waiting to hear about all these pitchers who come over from the NL to the AL and stink?? Dan Haren is the only young starting pitcher that comes to mind....who the hell are you Yankee fans talking about?? As far as I know Haren had a great season...don't think he is in the same class as Beckett. You guys are just bitter about Pavano, Wright, Vazquez, Brown....do you see a pattern??
  11. I GUARANTEE you would be shouting for joy if you guys traded for him and not us
  12. Sounds like bitterness to me?? I'm sure you guys would LOVE to have Beckett and dont tell me otherwise. Don't compare Beckett to Pavano either....the talent between the two is rediculous. Pavano was the fourth most talented on that staff behind Beckett, Burnett, and Willis
  13. Just another reason I say...lets wait and see what Lowell can do. It could be all star in the making. Oh wait he already is one. With a gold glove.....this is a good thing
  14. Just because all the pitchers who come over from the NL to your team suck doesn't mean they will suck for us.... I have already pointed out the seasons many pitchers had in the AL this season after coming over. It tends to be mostly Yankee pitchers who suck... Kevin Brown Javier Vazquez Carl Pavano Jaret Wright .... meanwhile we brought Schilling, Wells, and Clement over while all had good seasons. (Schilling didn't but he did win a World Series on one foot and came in 2nd for the Cy Young)
  15. that was an excellent "career year" for Jaret Wright.....I guarantee he won't improve on it.
  16. Manny Ramirez is a MUCH better hitter than Derek Lee. He had a great season....think he will do it as consistantly as Manny?? No way.
  17. Who cares he is mad cheap compared to Pavano hahaha....suckers
  18. fantastic avatar haha. Yes I think its wrong we all start saying trade Lowell. This guy could be huge for us this season. Past the numbers he is a team leader and locker room guy....EXACTLY what the Sox like to have. He is an excellent fit for the Red Sox and that spray chart of Lowell is scarey. Beckett says he will hit 40 HRs here......I'd love to see it. If he can hit over 30 in Florida its possible.
  19. Such as??? Bruce Chen has done well since coming over to the AL, Matt Clement made the all star game, Kevin Millwood did well coming over to the AL, David Wells had a good season....ok these guys aren't necessarily young.... but Dan Haren is....pretty good year for him and Josh Beckett is much more talented going along with a better track record and a World Series MVP. ....so who are we talking about??
  20. Schilling?? oh yeah he came in 2nd didn't he for 2004 Cy Young award?? ....if I recall your very own Shawn Chacon did well when he came to the AL didn't he??
  21. Enjoy having to play against him for years to come.
  22. Yea I was mentioning it above....Burglar Guts....I love it
  23. Manny Ramirez, Matt Clement, aaannnnddd some other good stuff for Albert Pujols hahaha
  24. If we lose Manny I still say we talk to the Mariners about Ichiro. I know they say he isn't available but if there is a problem between Ichiro and the management then perhaps something could develop. Signing Ichiro gives us the best leadoff hitter in baseball (not Damon) and would then allow us more money to go after Konerko to replace Manny. ....its just another possible direction to go....I would still rather keep Manny...I just don't see many options on the west coast. I hear the Dodgers are stacked in the minors though....and I like JD Drew...guess its another possibility.
  25. Some other hall of famer had that problem too....someone named Nolan Ryan....guess he did pretty well
