How a player may or may not feel is going to be considered in the voting?

I can't speak for Dipre and Ital, but saves and holds are such useless statistics that I doubt they'd be considered.

Yup, that's a fair critique. The way I look at it, I need to spend my money at some point, and the people who simply go for the great value picks all the time face the possibility of not fully utilizing their cap space. At the time I chose Sabathia, by almost any standard, he was the best pitcher available, and I theorized that he would not make it back to me (which was confirmed by Divinity). The real proof will come in the later rounds, when the possibility exists that I might have to pass up on better players due to salary cap constrictions. But I have no way of knowing if that's going to be the case, and I just felt it was worth it to go for the best available player.

Thanks. I think that's a product of me putting a lot of focus on pitching on the early rounds, but yeah, I have to be pleased with how my rotation looks so far.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Amazing how that worked out.

Considering Tulo's offensive production, his defensive ability, the position he plays, and his cost, I just don't think there's a better value pick in the draft. I think he should go at number one regardless of someone's draft strategy, but especially if that person is looking to take a position player. I understand the arguments for Pujols and Longoria, but for the reasons I mentioned, I just see Tulo as a better option. With that being said, if the person selecting first overall wants to go with a pitcher, it's certainly debatable.

It's hard to get a 'steal' at number five overall, but I think you did. Tulo should have gone at number one, in my opinion.

Nope, and I love the pick. Cole Hamels is an excellent pitcher. This was one of the guys who I was referring to in my post to Divinity about pitchers who should fall safely within the 4 win range.

Watching this right now. What an incredible game. Some great plays, some luck for the Pirates, and a couple really bad moves by Casey Stengel (in my opinion).

Yeah we'll see. I really like the Haren pick as well. After the first two rounds I planned to select CC as my number three starter, but if he went off the board, I probably would have selected Haren instead.

Haha, we'll see how my offense looks when this thing is over. For what it's worth, this is my strategy in redrafts (or more accurately, in the only other redraft I've done) - use the early rounds to make one component of my team very strong, and hope to build up the other half of my team with solid picks in the later rounds.

Yeah, this is probably what conventional wisdom would suggest. But I always planned for three of my first four picks to be pitchers, and I'm pleased with the ones I ended up with. Hopefully I'll find a way to build a solid offense without any stars to support my pitching.
