  1. Agreed. I think it would take a package that includes either Hughes or Chamberlain (at the very least).
  2. Just got back from the game. Not much to say. Quite a sudden end to the season. Anyways, good luck to the Sox fans in the ALCS.
  3. So are you rooting against the Yankees in this series?
  4. If both pitchers pitch poorly, and the game is close late, I think you would have to give the advantage to the Guardians, because they have a well rested Rafael Perez and Rafael Betancourt. Assuming Joba isn't available, the Yankees have very little reliable bullpen help before Rivera. Wang needs to hold up his end tonight.
  5. It could be argued that Wang will benefit from starting on short rest.
  6. Really rough game. The only thing that bothers me from a managerial standpoint is the way Torre managed the 8th. I think it was pretty clear from the first batter on that Joba was having a lot of trouble dealing with the bugs (before everyone gets all over me, I'm not using it as an excuse, it's Joba's fault he couldn't deal with the bugs), so Mo should have been in the game at some point before it was tied.
  7. And here comes Gom... EDIT: lol, I was too late.
  8. Oh, no argument from me. All I'm saying is that there were times when he actually did pretty well for the Yankees in big spots.
  9. What's the problem? I said nothing that wasn't a fact. Obviously he wasn't great, but some people make it seem like he was the sole reason why the Yankees lost.
  10. I disagree. If you have a good enough fastball where you can locate, then it's a really good strategy in my opinion. I think that strikeout of Anderson is the perfect example. He had thrown nothing but fastballs, before the strikeout pitch, and it only made the breaking ball more effective.
  11. I think it's probably the strategy they've discussed. Try to show the other hitters as little as possible over the first couple of innings, and then mix in the offspeed stuff. If he gets through the order the first time with mostly fastballs, he should be golden for the rest of the night.
  12. Well, yeah, his numbers certainly do not look good. However, in 2004, he only gave up runs in one game which they lost. On top of that, all his runs in the division series were inherited by Mo, and he pitched two shutout innings in the clinching game of the ALDS.
  13. If you break down what he did in the postseason for the Yankees (04 and 05), he was not that bad.
  14. He had one bad game, and in that game he had to get out of a big jam the inning before (courtesy of Tanyon Sturtze). It's not like he was that bad.
  15. Having Fuentes is going to be a big advantage against Utley and Howard, especially in a one run game.
  16. Very good start for Hamels. EDIT: But a great start for Francis.
  17. Wow. He never said that once. All he said was that a double elimination game adds something to the intrigue. On top of that, I have no idea where you brought the "greatest comeback ever" stuff from. I don't think he mentioned anything about that.
  18. lol. Where did he say it wasn't?
  19. The Yankees did not go in hot. They went in bored having had a week and a half of meaningless games. They simply didn't turn it on.
  20. Not that I'm trying to help out Gom, but I enjoy this kind of thing, so I'll give it a shot (in no particular order). 2006 NLCS Game 7 (Mets-Cardinals) 2003 ALCS Game 7 (Yankees-Red Sox) 2001 World Series Game 7 (Yankees-Diamondbacks) 1997 World Series Game 7 (Marlins-Guardians) 1995 Division Series Game 5 (Yankees-Mariners) 1992 NLCS Game 7 (Braves-Pirates) 1991 World Series Game 7 (Twins-Braves) 1976 ALCS Game 5 (Yankees-Royals) 1962 World Series Game 7 (Yankees-Giants) 1960 World Series Game 7 (Yankees-Pirates) There are obviously better ones, but they go further back, and I think I'll keep this argument in the last 50 years. By, Kilo, to add to your list, how about 1986 NLCS Game 6 (Mets-Astros).
