  1. It's not. Just like the one in 2004 wasn't for the Red Sox (even though they were much further out but there is the WC). There is no such thing as a must win in June. However, I'm saying it was hailed as a must win (which the NY media did).
  2. Jackson, common. You get on me for making reactionary posts about CMW (back in 2007 and this year which have turned about to be dead on by the way). The Yankees don't trust Rivera to pitch two innings. Should they? Clearly you do, and so do I, but it's not as obvious as you're making it out to be. Now, even if you're not going to pitch him two innings, I would bring him in in the 8th with men on and the heart of the order up, even if he's not going to pitch the 9th. The 8th inning, tonight, is where the game is going to be won or lost. However, managers don't do that, so it's a moot point.
  3. Reminds me of the Yankees three game sweep of the Red Sox in the middle of the 2004 season. There are a number of similarities. Great win for the Red Sox. Great series for the Red Sox. Yankees go home, and hopefully they can turn it around against the Mets. Enjoy this one guys.
  4. That would be really bad for the Yankees. They want at least one more inning, probably two more from CC. If the tarp comes out, there is a good chance the Yankees are going to need 6 outs (maybe a bit less cause Girardi might use Rivera in the 8th) from their bullpen before Rivera.
  5. Interesting. I really appreciate the info.
  6. Yeah definitely. If they did miss it, and I can't say that for sure, it's just unfortunate (for the Yankees) considering the situation.
  7. I'm not sure that they're going to if Melky doesn't get on here. If he does, I would expect (but I would do it no matter what).
  8. No haha, I know, I meant more specifically.
  9. Did NESN show a good angle on that? On the YES replay it looked fair.
  10. After pitching 8...
  11. Ah, CD, ready for some of that logic and fact again? http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/numlocation.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_06/day_11/gid_2009_06_11_nyamlb_bosmlb_1//pbp/pitchers/282332.xml&batterX=090611_205423&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=1&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500 Any part of the black is a strike, not to mention CC lost a strike during that AB.
  12. What is alarming is the amount of times they make out after getting ahead in the count. They're seeing good pitches, they're just not doing anything with them.
  13. Absolutely not. If anything, CC is losing strikes. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/location.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_06/day_11/gid_2009_06_11_nyamlb_bosmlb_1//pbp/pitchers/282332.xml&batterX=0&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=3&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500
  14. Good inning. Great strikeout pitches to Drew and Youkilis. I just don't have too much confidence in the offense right now, but if Penny keeps putting guys on base, they'll score eventually (even though you'd think he's only going to pitch 5 innings).
  15. CC not hitting spots with his fastball at all.
  16. Clearly not the same A-Rod as we're used to (right now), but yeah.
  17. He said after the HR...
