  1. All I'm contending is that your statement that it was low is false. Pitch FX proves that, and it also proves that it really wasn't borderline.
  2. While I'm excited about the walk off, I'm really puzzled by a decision (or lack thereof) that the front office made. They knew Posada was going to be suspended, and that he would serve it right away (so he could play against LAA and BOS). Why, knowing that, would they not call up a third catcher? I know Cervelli came through last night, but it should have been Hinske up there. Does it have something to do with the 40 man roster?
  3. In 1991 he was spectacular. Definitely deserving of the MVP award. His slash line that year was .323/.374/.566. He went out the next year, in the same amount of games, and produced a slash line of .251/.323/.366. His slugging percentage dropped by 200 points. That is an incredible decline from one year to the next and is extremely hard to explain. I think it's very possible that he played hurt at times and his statistics really suffered.
  4. While Seattle may be above .500, they are not a very good team. As a matter of fact, if I could choose teams to play in the AL they would be a top of the list. Their lineup is awful. They only have two productive hitters. Most telling is their PYTH of 67-79.
  5. At this point a Yankee win and a Red Sox loss mean absolutely the same thing to me. They are on completely equal. The magic number for the Yankees is 11, and a Yankee win or a Red Sox loss means the exact thing. As for the call, lets not use the "it could have gone either way excuse". It was not borderline. It was a strike. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/numlocation.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_09/day_16/gid_2009_09_16_anamlb_bosmlb_1//pbp/pitchers/150118.xml&batterX=090916_231149&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=3&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500 This shows the baseball to be more than three tenths of a foot above the bottom of the strike zone. It was not right down the middle, but it was definitely a strike. Bad calls happen all the time, but it is extremely frustrating for one to happen in that spot.
  6. Well, from the responses I got, apparently it was to some people.
  7. I want to apologize to anyone on this board who I might have offended tonight with my frustration. There is a reason why I almost always stay away from the Red Sox game threads and I should have heeded my own advice. I was caught up in the heat of the moment. Anyway, I will explain one thing though. At least one person said to me that I shouldn't be upset because at least my team won. At this point in the season, a Yankee win and a Red Sox mean absolutely the same thing to me. That has nothing to do with any hatred towards the Red Sox, as I've stated numerous times on this site that I don't hate the Red Sox at all. However, in terms of clinching the division, they both have the same importance.
  8. Fine. I do my best to stay away from the Red Sox game threads and this is one of the first I've posted in all year. I didn't gloat once when the Yankees slept the Red Sox at home or took two of three at Fenway. I was ticked off about that call, I was compelled to say something. I'm sorry that upset you guys so much.
  9. Even some of the Red Sox fans here were admitting that they had no business winning the game.
  10. Look, I think it would be much worse if I had come in here to gloat if the Angels had won. But you know I would not have done that. Bad calls happen, but that is an awful call in a huge spot. My comment doesn't change the result, but everything I said was factual.
  11. If Fuentes had closed out that game I never would have come into this thread. Anyone who posts here knows that. However, if I come into the thread and drop a comment about how awful a call that one, I don't see why that should be met the way it was. The worst part about it is that MANNYHOF24, who called me out on it, made a post about how awful the call was.
  12. What happened in the Red Sox game just completely took away from my excitement over the walk off win.
  13. That is awful. The umpires have been bad all year and the home plate umpire just took a game into his own hands. Really terrible.
  14. That's a lot of assumptions, but OK. I guess the possibility exists.
  15. I really meant over the last couple series. They did not play well against Baltimore and they have not played well against Toronto. On the other hand the Red Sox, especially their pinching, has been great since the CWS series.
  16. But, at the same time, he also approved of Piazza's decision. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that he would have been OK with it. I guess I'm in the minority.
  17. Being indifferent towards the situation and feeling strongly one way is not different?
  18. Well, that was big. Not a bad pitch. NYS probably helped but I'll take it.
  19. Yes, being OK with either decision and saying he should have charged the mound is a big difference.
