  1. We are talking about the Wild Card, right? That shows the magic numbers for division contention.

  3. Do you think those numbers are more accurate? You would think UC Berkeley engineers know what they're talking about.

And I think he had a point in Philadelphia. If McNabb was actually throwing up in the huddle during the Super Bowl, that's an issue. Maybe Owens shouldn't have voiced it publicly, but I don't think all the blame should go his way. Also, Owens gets all the blame for that relationship falling apart, but I don't think McNabb was really helping the situation. However, I'll admit he was wrong to complain about a contract he had just agreed to the year before.
  5. Didn't exactly look good, but 1-2-3 they go.

He has his off the field issues and he is probably too outspoken. Those things don't bother me though, as much as it bothers other people. As long as a player brings it when he is between the lines I'm OK with him. And even when he is "whining" his effort is top notch. In his last year in Philadelphia, during one of his last games, he made a move on Champ Bailey on a quick throw to him at the line of scrimmage that was pretty ridiculous, and then ran for a TD. Just an example. He never lets it effect him when he is on the field. I'd rather him than a guy like Randy Moss who gave up on his team out in Oakland, and stopped running his routes hard. I think that is much more damaging.
  7. Is it really a big deal? It was an ongoing discussion.
  8. If anyone was watching on MLBN I love how it took Harold Reynolds about two seconds into his monologue to make his first mistake.

He wins where he goes. He gets to Dallas and they make the playoffs his first year, and then progress to being the best team in the NFC the next year. When he got to Philadelphia they made the Super Bowl (even though he didn't play in the playoffs). Also, in terms of his dedication to his team, the guy played in the Super Bowl while he was still recovering from a broken leg. He put his career on the line to try and help his team win the Super Bowl.

  11. Should have been a strike based on previous calls this game.
  12. Pete Abraham, who has been a beat writer for the Yankees, is joining the Boston Globe in two weeks to cover the Red Sox. In my opinion, he was the best beat writer the Yankees had.

Not only is he a terrific talent on the field, but his effort is also off the charts. You can say what you want about Owens off the field, but between the lines, the talent and effort is all there.
  14. Completely agree. I give you credit. You called that when the lead was much smaller.
  15. I agree with you that the division is not over, however, by your logic, I'm guessing you don't think the Red Sox have the WC wrapped up?
  16. Apparently the Mariners flipped Hernandez and Fister. I preferred the match-ups of Burnett vs. Fister and Sabathia vs. Hernandez. That would have given them a reasonable chance to win both games. Now, although their chances for Saturday have improved, winning on Friday seems doubtful.
  17. Right, but, right now, they're really playing well. You have to give them the advantage in those series. A 5-2 trip is very likely. As for the Yankees, 3-3 is probably what to expect. By the time the Yankees-Red Sox series roles around next weekend I expect the lead to be 4.5 (5 in the win column and 4 in the loss column). That would put the Red Sox in a position where they need to sweep.
  18. How is that consistent? If anything it's awful. He called pitches that were lower than the one to Green strikes. I understand that he called similar pitches low during the game, but he also called a lot of them strikes. I agree, his call in the ninth inning was not an anomaly, but he wasn't consistently calling that pitch a ball.
  19. What's the word on Martinez and Youkilis for tonight?
  20. I think you would have to admit that Pitch F/X is better than your own eyes. Also, I don't think Fuentes was intentionally nibbling. He really had no control that inning from the outset. He missed by a large margin on a number of pitches.
  21. Very good post. I completely agree.
