  1. Fantastic decision by Pedroia.
  2. Someone mentioned that Ortiz has a great deal of pride, and because of that, he might accept a minor league assignment in order to possibly regain a semblance of his old form. I agree that he probably has a lot of pride, but I actually think all that pride would prevent him from accepting a minor league assignment. Those feelings can work both ways. For example, at the beginning of 2005 Jason Giambi refused to accept a minor league assignment, probably because he felt it was beneath him. I think there is a good chance Ortiz feels the same way. Obviously this is nothing but speculation, as I don't know what his mindset is. With that being said, I think the above is plausible, and probably likely.
  3. Going back to last night, I was definitely encouraged by Joba's performance. The velocity was up (95-96), and the slider was decent. Once again, hopefully as Joba re-acclimates to the relief role, he finds that elusive consistency.
  4. Threads on this forum go off topic all the time, especially ones as insignificant as this one.
  5. Why is there currently so little integrity left in the game?
  6. Haha, I still support Javy, but it's hard to leave him up there when he truly represents the weakest spot on the 25 man roster.
  7. What was it you said about small sample sizes and fools?
  8. Even if he doesn't start the game, somehow, someway, Cervelli always ends up catching CC. EDIT: One would expect a bit more offense, but CC should be able to make this hold up.
  9. The look on the faces of the players on the bench was priceless when Winn hit that home run. Absolute shock.
  10. I'd love to know why Swisher was playing so deep, and why he slid for that ball.
  11. Tejada hit it on the nose, but CC is through one unscathed.
  12. Alright, CC vs. Guthrie...
  13. Vazquez has been pushed back, and will start next Monday.
  14. From Cots... 1 year/$10M (2010) -signed by Boston as a free agent 1/5/10 -10:$9M, 11:$5M player option -$1M buyout for 2011 option if Beltre has 575 PAs in 2010 -2011 option increases to $10M with 640 PAs in 2010
  15. One quick point. They finished third in 1996. In 1995 they won the division with 86 wins, but it was in a shortened season.
  16. Germans? Forget it, he's rolling.
  17. Montero is off to a very slow start. .228/.299/.354
  18. Haha can't say I didn't see this coming. Now this one hurts, and I still remember posting a 'congratulations' thread here.
  19. Haha, well, the World Series doesn't bother me. Only the ALCS.
  20. Eh, what the hell, I'll contribution. Not about this year, but... http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN200410270.shtml
  21. I'm not saying I'm sold on Mitre either, but if Vazquez puts together a couple more poor starts in a row, Mitre could do no worse. Either way, I think they have to skip him the next turn through the rotation. That way he'll miss Boston, and the extra rest could only help.
