  1. And that's why there's no reason to sacrifice defense in an important game. EDIT: Such a shame that Girardi doesn't field his best team in a game that matters this much in the standings.
  2. CC going to his fourth best pitch too much.
  3. And the Yankees continue to struggle with runners at third and less than two outs. Quite a contrast between them and the Rays in that department.
  4. It's not complete, but this is the best explanation I've seen of how the rankings work. http://tigers-thoughts.blogspot.com/2008/07/almost-how-elias-sports-bureau-rankings.html
  5. I'd have to give it to Cabrera now, although I agree, it's down to Cabrera, Hamilton, and Cano.
  6. Haha you can hold out hope for tomorrow.
  7. Excellent. Really happy about this win.
  8. But now we'll see if the Yankees pay for under using Mo.
  9. Wow, Robbie is having himself a day.
  10. One of these days A-Rod is going to square one of these great pitches to hit. He's awful right now.
  11. Great inning for Robertson. Now would be a nice time for number 600.
  12. Benoit is fantastic.
  13. Definitely the easiest way for the Sox to get to first place lol.
  14. Huge spot for Boone Logan. EDIT: And he does an excellent job.
  15. Any problem that Javy has stems from his poor fastball this year. He gets beat on his fastball more than he should, and he also can't trust it to get ahead in the count. It forces him to go with a ton of off-speed pitches early in counts, and with the batters well aware of that, they're able to make him pay when he leaves one up in the zone.
  16. Too many damn breaking balls.
  17. Big home run from Tex.
  18. The Rays just make it look so easy with a runner at third and less than two outs, something the Yankees constantly struggle with. EDIT: And more bad outfield defense.
  19. Outfield defense has cost them tonight. Jaso's ball should have been caught in the first, and Jaso only should have had a single in the third. If both of those things had happened, Javy would be working on a shutout.
  20. Berkman and Wood both have club options for next year, that will be declined. Additionally, the Yankees are footing the bill? That's news to me. The Astros and the Guardians are paying the majority of the money for 2010.
  21. Not a chance. Based on what he's done so far this year, there's no doubt in my mind that Wood is going to pitch in low leverage situations until he begins to succeed (if that ever happens).
