Any problem that Javy has stems from his poor fastball this year. He gets beat on his fastball more than he should, and he also can't trust it to get ahead in the count. It forces him to go with a ton of off-speed pitches early in counts, and with the batters well aware of that, they're able to make him pay when he leaves one up in the zone.

Outfield defense has cost them tonight. Jaso's ball should have been caught in the first, and Jaso only should have had a single in the third. If both of those things had happened, Javy would be working on a shutout.

Berkman and Wood both have club options for next year, that will be declined. Additionally, the Yankees are footing the bill? That's news to me. The Astros and the Guardians are paying the majority of the money for 2010.

Not a chance. Based on what he's done so far this year, there's no doubt in my mind that Wood is going to pitch in low leverage situations until he begins to succeed (if that ever happens).
