  1. Jeter gets ahead 2-1, gets a fastball right down the middle, takes a good swing, and hits a looper to the right fielder. That might be an even worse sign than his countless weak grounders.
  2. I think it might be time to see Mitre or Gaudin out there. EDIT: Or Albaladejo.
  3. This obviously won't be a popular opinion (and there's no chance of this happening), but when you consider all the factors, I think an argument could be made that the Yankees are better off with Pena at short.
  4. And another homer on an 0-2 pitch. Also, I know they're encouraging him to throw it more, but Hughes' changeup isn't any good right now. He should work on it in game, but it would be a mistake to ever throw it in any kind of important spot or game.
  5. Typical 0-2 pitch from Hughes against Wells.
  6. Good win, and another good day for the Yankees' bullpen.
  7. Hell of an AB there by Marco Scu - I mean Derek Jeter.
  8. I hope you're right, but I can't see Jeter taking a pay cut.
  9. Joe likes to alternate these things, but I wonder if Kerry Wood is now the 8th inning guy. EDIT: But I bet he is just going with the hot hand, which I'm a big fan of.
  10. Haha, well, you can't knock the Yankees' front office entirely on that front. They had no problem cutting ties with guys like Don Mattingly and Bernie Williams when they were no longer effective. They won't do it with Jeter, but they have done it before. They don't always take the sentimental route.
  11. Wow the Yankees are lucky. A terrible call not only results in an important strikeout, but also leads to the ejection of the Jays' best player.
  12. Too bad this isn't the case. Instead the Yankees will enjoy his deteriorating offense and his poor defense at SS for the next three years with a 20 million dollar AAV.
  13. Haha, I appreciate that. Admittedly, the general sentiment amongst Yankees' fans regarding Jeter is frustrating and annoying.
  14. Completely agreed. If everyone is healthy, here is what the Yankees' lineups should be (IMO): vs. RHP LF Brett Gardner RF Nick Swisher 1B Mark Teixeira 3B Alex Rodriguez 2B Robinson Cano C Jorge Posada CF Curtis Granderson DH Lance Berkman SS Derek Jeter Against lefties you would just swap out Berkman for Thames. The 2, 6, and 7 spots are also interchangeable. If his name wasn't Derek Jeter, and the Yankees just looked at his production, he would be hitting ninth. There was a reason I started the thread about Jeter's future, and this is it.
  15. And Logan throws a good inning. If Joe brought him in at the appropriate time, they would probably still be winning.
  16. When the Red Sox won the Friday game, and pulled to within 4.5 of both the Yankees and the Rays, I was a bit worried. Even with the injuries, if Lackey and Beckett had gotten hot, they could have turned it around and made things interesting. At this point it would definitely take a miracle, but I'm not guaranteeing anything for the Yankees just yet.
  17. Fair enough. I thought you were still holding out hope. I'm still keep a close eye on every Red Sox's game lol.
  18. If Joe believed in it yesterday, he should believe in it today. Logan should be up in case Wells reaches. EDIT: And this is why I dislike Joe. Way too much inconsistency. He made the right move yesterday, he should do the same today. EDIT 2: What a surprise. Joe continues to show us what a moron he is.
  19. Very fortunate to plate those two runs that inning.
  20. As long as that was above the elbow I'm guessing Tex will be OK.
