1. Can we please stop starting threads about YES? We know their clueless.
2. I want to goto the game because there is nothing like a Red Sox vs. Yankees game. I've gone to my fair share of games, but nothing compares to going to a game when the Bronx Bombers are in town. I was there on September 2, 2001 when Mike Mussina was pitching the best game I have ever seen live not pitched by Pedro Martinez. I've seen plenty of games on TV, and while there have probably been better performances that I've seen, this was unbelievably close to the best non-Pedro game. As you all know, Mike Mussina had a perfect game with 2 outs in the 9th. Of course, Carl Everett came up, and singled to left. David Cone also pitched an unbelievable game. He went 8 and a 1/3, gave up 6 hits, 1 unearned run, and he struck out 8. On May 20, 2003, I attended my second Yankee game. In the end, I didn't leave Fenway disappointing. However, I wasn't in Fenway Park for more than 10 minutes before I was disappointed. Pedro Martinez was scheduled to face off against Jeff Weaver on this day. However, I soon found out from the person next to my seat that Pedro Martinez was scratched for this one. We ended up winning 10-7, chasing Weaver after 5 when he gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. Oh, and Bruce Chen gave up a leadoff HR to Alfonso Soriano. Pedro Martinez he wasn't. The biggest reason I want to attend this game is the playoff atmosphere that you can feel once you get off the train at Kenmore Station. I know what a playoff game vs. the Yankees feels like because I was there for that infamous Game 3 of the 2003 American League Championship Series. Pedro wasn't the Pedro we were accustomed to when he put up a 2.22 ERA that regular season. He gave up 4 runs in 7 innings and only struck out 6. However, he calmed down after the infamous brawl in the top of 4th when Pedro tossed Zimmer. As it turns out, the Red Sox lost 4-3 that day. And of course, the next game was quite possibly the best game I ever went to. And the biggest reason occured before the game had even started. April 11, 2005. The World Champion Boston Red Sox recieved their World Series Rings in front of 33,702 fans. It didn't hurt that the Red Sox defeated the same team they came back down 0-3 the previous playoffs 8-1. Wakefield pitched 7 shutout innings. I haven't been back to a Yankee game since then, so please consider my entry. Thank you.
3. Who made that?
4. I'd take it easy if I were you.

6. Not really. Pitch counts like that can hurt a pitcher for weeks.
7. Baseball Prospectus' DT cards are broken into 4 different sections: Actual Batting Stats, Advanced Batting Stats, Translated batting stats, and then fielding stats by position. The pitcher's cards are also broken down into 7 sections: Actual Pitching Stats, Advanced Pitching stats, Translated pitching stats, Actual batting stats, Advanced batting stats, Translated batting stats, and then again, fielding. You can view an example of a DT card here: David Ortiz. Now, what I am getting at is this: Translated statistics. What they try to do here is put every player that has every played game on an equal ground to stand on. Here is the definition of "Translated Stats" from their glossary: Here are the Translated Stats for the top 25 single season Adjusted ERA+'s in the history of baseball, and a few ERA+ seasons that didn't make the top 25 but were great Translated seasons. They are in order of Translated ERA, not Adjusted ERA+ because ERA+ has its faults. All of the following statistics are translated. I definitely missed a few. I added in Randy's years but he wasn't in the top 25 ERA+. Keep in mind these aren't the top translated ERA's, they are the top 25 ERA+ leaders but arranged by Translated ERA with their Translated stats.Player Year ERA IP K/9 BB/9 HR/9 Pedro Martinez 2000 1.31 261 12.1 0.5 0.6 Bob Gibson 1968 1.39 278 8.5 1.9 0.7 Dwight Gooden 1985 1.51 279.7 9.1 1.8 0.6 Steve Carlton 1972 1.53 324.3 8.9 1.8 0.6 Roger Clemens 1997 1.57 292 9.7 1.6 0.2 Pedro Martinez 1999 1.59 258.7 13.1 0.8 0.3 Pedro Martinez 2003 1.61 212 10.6 1.4 0.5 Walter Johnson 1913 1.77 309.7 8.3 0.7 1.2 Randy Johnson 1995 1.78 273.7 12.1 2.1 0.4 Pedro Martinez 1997 1.79 266 9.9 1.9 0.8 Dutch Leonard 1914 1.79 195.7 9.1 2.4 1.2 Walter Johnson 1912 1.92 296 9.1 1.8 0.9 Randy Johnson 2001 1.96 284.7 12.1 2.1 0.5 Randy Johnson 1999 1.98 300.3 10.7 1.6 0.8 Randy Johnson 2002 1.98 296 11.2 1.8 0.7 Walter Johnson 1919 2.01 268.7 7.8 1.7 0.5 Greg Maddux 1995 2.03 279.7 7.1 0.4 0.5 Lefty Grove 1931 2.21 281.7 8.6 1.3 0.6 Walter Johnson 1918 2.25 292 7.8 2.4 0.9 Christy Mathewson 1909 2.26 243 7.2 0.9 0.9 Cy Young 1901 2.31 293.3 7.3 1.6 0.9 Pete Alexander 1915 2.31 321 8.9 1.5 0.8 Greg Maddux 1994 2.31 307.7 6.6 1 0.3 Kevin Brown 1996 2.38 265 5.2 0.8 0.4 Christy Mathewson 1905 2.48 269 7.8 1.5 1.1 Roger Clemens 2005 2.56 243 7.3 2.3 0.6 Carl Lundgren 1907 2.93 175.3 5.6 5.1 0.6 Mordecai Brown 1906 2.99 232 6.6 2 0.9 Tim Keefe 1880 3.31 49 6.4 3.9 0.6 Denny Driscoll 1882 3.59 135.3 3.3 2.3 1.1 Jack Pfiester 1907 4.25 165 6.4 2.3 9 Other Translated ERA's I missed: Johan Santana 2004: 2.03 Pedro 2002: 2.20 Clemens 1998: 2.16 I could find many others but you get the idea on how good Pedro is. Koufax last 4 years: 1.41, 1.68, 1.98, 1.55
8. Entry form : Number of Red Sox Wins: 5 Number of Red Sox Home Runs: 6 Number of Red Sox Runs Scored : 29 Your Pick ( Total of all Three ) : 40 Edit: Damn it.
9. I have no idea why I haven't been here. It's just something that kind of happened, I need to stick around. By the way, BDD sucks. They are already calling Coco Crisp "Comar Crisp." God I hate them. Oh, yeah, Keefe in the 1880 National League? The league where it took 8 balls to walk a batter? 50 feet from the pitcher's box to home plate? The pitcher could get a running start before he delivered the ball. Pedro is #1 on the ERA list as far as I am concerned.
10. Anybody that boos Pedro is clueless, unless he slept with your sister or something.
11. Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox
12. Bill James had Coco Crisp hitting 13 HR in Jacobs Field.
13. CHB = Curly Haired Boyfriend. Carl Everett said it. Dan Shaughnessy called Everett "Jurassic Carl" when the whole dinosaurs thing came out, Everett then went on to call him "Curly Haired Boyfriend."
14. No, PECOTA doesn't expect him to get 551 PA's with the Red Sox. They expect him to get 551 PA's between Pawtucket and Boston, and the numbers he is projected to put up are his numbers in Boston in addition to his numbers in Pawtucket (not raw numbers, what the major league equivalent would be. Like for example, .300/.400/.500 in Pawtucket might be .280/.360/.450 in Boston. Those aren't the exact MLE's of PAW to BOS but it's an example.)
15. All PECOTA projections are for all professional levels, but the numbers are major league equivalents.
16. Not only should Will Clark still be on the ballot, he should be making a speech this summer. Rice doesn't deserve it I hate to say it. And Blyleven!!!!! COME ON!!!
17. He does have the best power. The list with Soto was completed before the Marte trade and wasn't updated.
18. gosox613, you're wrong. You need to stop before Plump embarrasses you. Read Moneyball or Mind Game or somethin.
19. Baseball Prospectus rated Marte the #1 prospect in February.
20. The thing is I've only heard this out of Tampa Bay. Red Sox doctors say he is fine, and high ranked officials out of Atlanta say that he is fine. The Devil Rays are still bitter we couldn't get a 3-way deal done with Atlanta so they could get Andy Marte. A reliable Red Sox poster from NYYFans.com e-mailed Atlanta writer David O'Brien about Marte's elbow. The said poster got this reply. Atlanta and Boston both say his elbow is fine, somebody in Tampa has sour grapes. That is what I think.
21. Our payroll is not $150 million.
22. First Baseman that can't even slug .450 have no room to talk.
23. Think you could get a smaller avatar NYY2212?
24. Rodriguez clearly deserved it.
