  1. i thought the same thing going into detroit
  2. tony g. must be feeling pretty good
  3. lots of pressure on the yanks tonight knowing that the red sox and a's have lost today already.
  4. ehhh, I don't really pay attention
  5. ok...gametime lets go rays!!!!
  6. http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/caron/08_17_05/ Promote him and let go of Millar or Remlinger. Use him like the Yankees 1st did Mariano - to set up Foulke (Foulke proved his worth last year... he'll be back & should be our closer)
  7. got this off katz's insider
  8. It's hard to believe the RedSox will continue with 3 first basemen The following is from Rotoworld just awhile ago. Kevin Millar had one single in four at-bats today. He has two RBI during a month of August in which the Red Sox have scored at least 10 runs on five occasions. Millar still has a decent OBP, but practically every ball he hits with authority goes into the stands down the third base line. He hasn't homered since June 4 and he hasn't had a multi-RBI game since July 6. The Red Sox should probably keep him around to play against left-handers, but we'd be in favor of his release just to get him out of the lineup versus righties once and for all. That neither Manny Ramirez nor Roberto Petagine got a single at-bat in a 6-5 loss today is another illustration that the the way to prevent Terry Francona from using his worst options is to take them away entirely It's just a matter of time.
  9. Well said. And that argument of "Oh, but he keeps the clubhouse loose and makes everyone laugh!" is just getting old and tired... Tito is supposed to be a stat guy yet I find he ignores stats he doesn't like. For example if a left handed pitcher is better against right handed batters Tito will still use the guy like a specialist to get LEFT handed batters out (even though he cannot). Similarly, if we have a right handed hitter who is terrible against left handed pitchers Tito will still prefer to start the righty batter vs the lefty pitcher.
  10. maybe he'll record a save tonight, cuz you know joe will use him in a save situation
  11. plus, in order for a trade to work we would have to get someone who can put up similar #'s as manny, and that is very unlikely that we will find someone who is on manny's skill level. I wouldn't do anyone from the mets....possibly beltran, wright, reyes, pedro, but they wont trade any of them I like dunn but the reds wont take on manny's contract.....and miguel cabrera is out of thequestion as well as andruw jones.
  12. remlinger can't pitch to LEFTIES. You have to put him in there against righties or he will get rocked more than he has thus far, thats why he was successful in atlanta.
  13. I say no, I really believe that he wants to stay in boston.
  14. ok Nixon sits vs L, so why not sit millar why does he continue to play Millar away from Fenway? .286 SLG, .598 OPS on the road... terrible. When he does get hits on the road, he's a singles hitter. 0 HR, 6 doubles on the road. Please Tito, end this madness.. at least stop hitting him in the 6th slot on the road. Yea, once in a rare while, maybe even today, he'll 'prove me wrong' by hitting a rare double or HR on the road, but if he sits Nixon and his .676 OPS vs lefties, then he should sit Millar and his far worse road OPS. Sorry for the Millar rant, I know there are a ton of others right now, but it just frustrates me how loyal he is to that guy. The numbers don't lie, he stinks on the road.
  15. well well well........rent went 3-5 today wih 2 doubles...millar went 1-4, grounded into a dp too
  16. yep, yours?
  17. job well done today by remlinger Delcarmen needs to get his offspeed pitches working - if he can combine a change up, curve or hard slider with his heat he will be nasty. Trouble is that if he doesn't have something else to keep the opposition hitters on their toes he will get hit very hard. And when 95mph cheese gets hit hard it ain't coming back.
  18. just watchin jim rome and he was dissin on the yankees hesaid, " no everything is not fine, you are not in it......" just lookin at the yankees and sox schedules we both have some intriguing games this weekend, yanks are in chicago and they have to face garland, el duque, contreras. 3 tough games there we have to face colon, lackey, santana and byrd
  19. some positives from todays game: 1. remlinger pitched great thru 1 2/3 innings 2. Millar got on base 3. Edgar went 3-5, with 2 doubles. 4. Johnny O is back. 5. Bullpen is saved for Anaheim like RSR Said. 6. Wells settled down after getting rocked in the 1st
  20. leiter vs hendrickson.....hmmmm 2 words- go rays!
