In my opinion, Travis Shaw is going to play a big role on this team. Is he going to start based on his spring? No and he shouldn't. The best play is to keep his big bat ready to patch any early season struggles from Castillo and Sandoval, while at the same time lighting a fire under Pablo's and Rusney's asses. Both of them have already been paid handsomely, so whatever motivating factors you can utilize the better.

Pretty easy question. Once Pedey comes back from the DL, who stays on as the backup/utility infielder? Pokey, I mean Pedro is 10/12 with a few RBI's since coming up. Even though he had a hot spring training, he never got the chance to play on the big league squad and he's made the most of the oppurtunity with a few clutch hits that have won us 2 games so far. Punto had a slow start, but since June 1: .300/.368/.444, 4 SB. He can play more positions and is reportedly a great clubhouse presence. The last option probably means cut Lillibridge.

I propose trading/DFA'ing Salty if he doesnt pick it up in a week and trying to get the Phillies to take on his salary for someone like Scott Pods, who can play a little while Ells is out and he can be a late inning runner. Bring up Lavarnway and we have some pop in the lineup.

Great move. With an outfield of Ells and Sweeney to start the year Ross is going to come in clutch. This is a great low risk/high reward signing. He wanted a 3 year deal at the beginning of the offseason and Boston is the place to prove himself if he wants that deal after this season. Good job Ben.
