  1. Exactly, George is also notorious for trying to break Sox fans' hearts and blocking the Sox from acquiring certain players (See: Jose Canseco).
  2. Thanks, I was waiting for a post like this to make sure I wasn't dreaming lol. Yeah, I didn't think he normally dropped off like he did.
  3. I don't know much about JT Snow...if we signed him as a backup 1B would it be similar to having Olerud as the backup? I just wanna know what the ability relationship between Olerud and Snow is.
  4. Also, if he's going anywhere, I can't say I would be too mad if he went to Toronto. Like said before, they're vastly overstacking corner infielders: Glaus, Hillenbrand, Hinske, Koskie...the list is growing. They'd also have to trade Orlando Hudson and create a hole for themselves at 2B. The Jays may be having a good off-season, but it's turning s***** and confusing pretty fast if they keep up with some of these moves.
  5. It was a good post I totally agree. I'm a Cesar fan, and if Millwood gets the job done in order to bring Reed/Cesar here, then by God get it done. Short contracts was also a good point. Get what you can out of it, then if you're lucky, they'll come back to you. But you have to make sure you can get the best out of your players. Here in Boston, knowing Tito, he won't give up on Reed or Cesar at all, and being that they're both young, that's a good thing. These guys could definitely flourish in front of our eyes, and there's nothing better than seeing some guys you were patient with all along really pay off for you down the road. Like I said, interesting post.
  6. I agree with his talents are replaceable, but it's just the fact that Fenway's CF is so different than others and he got used to it. Guys like Crisp or Reed will need to get a feel for it before they get comfortable with it. EDIT: I'm NOT saying that I'm glad he's gone, or that I wish we didn't sign him. I wish we did get him back, he's one of the premier lead off hitters in the game, no question. But now that he's officially gone, I'm looking forward and seeing what's out there. And now that I open my eyes to young potential studs like Reed and Crisp, I easily see suitable replacements.
  7. Speed is something the Sox haven't been accustomed to too much because anyone can get hit in when Manny and Ortiz are hitting behind them. I would LOVE to have a base stealing threat (we had that with Johnny, but his speed isn't near Gathright's). EDIT: Of course, we are dealing with Tampa Bay here, so I have serious doubts as to whether Gathright will actually end up in Boston.
  8. I am thinking Loretta might move until Cesar is ready, or Graff could try it out. If not, Loretta at SS and Graff at 2B would make me happy until Cesar comes back. Cesar is an insanely good defensive SS, although he's not too well-known for his offensive capabilities. He has a career .261 avg, .295 obp, .338 slg, which makes a career .633 ops. However, because the 2004 Red Sox were defensively fit, and because our rotation/bullpen for 2006 is only getting stronger, I wouldn't mind a dip in the offensive category for a defensive player like Izturis. Over the last 4 seasons, he averages 41 RBIs. I'm pretty sure he was a top of the lineup (leadoff, 2nd hole) batter in LA, so I wouldn't mind those RBIs coming to Boston either. Basically, Izturis as a whole is a decent hitter with a great glove. Although after his injury, we will not know how he will perform once he comes back. Of course though, once he is ready, Loretta will probably already have spent time at SS and if he's doing well and Cesar proves to be a bust, we could use Cesar as a defensive specialist. I like the idea of Cesar.
  9. I know Riverside, seriously lol. If the season started tomorrow, the Sox would have taken care of the holes a long ass time ago. People analyzing seasons before they even start or aren't even CLOSE to starting (3.5 months in this case), really start to piss me off.
  10. I took batting practice with him once (which obviously now, I regret, but nonetheless it was still cool). Listening to him giving tips for batting was the most excruciatingly painful thing I've tried to listen to. Ever.
  11. Alright, lol, thanks again.
  12. Eh, I already mentioned it, but credit sources please...
  13. I don't mean to be a pain in the ass about it, but could you site your sources? It gives us an idea of how credible the content is, and for future viewings of the site the material came from as well.
  14. Well, that's sort of his point. When trading for a guy like TROY GLAUS, and you know you're only giving up a 2nd base defensive specialist on top of a mediocre relief pitcher, there's no reason that you need to know who specifically the players were, because generally, those positions are simply not enough to get a guy like Troy.
  15. Ouch, I'm gunna need the fire department I just got burned so bad.
  16. Most of us knew that. I'm pretty sure we were joking around about teh Blue Jays, hence their ridiculous big spending this off-season, but I'm not good at telling sarcasm over the interweb.
  17. Yes, my eyes are stinging really bad now, AND I think I'm going blind. Hm...never wash your eyes with soap.

  19. Thanks Optimist, I'm scarred for life. Excuse me while I go wash my eyes out with Dial anti-bacterial soap.
  20. Sexson either K's, or hits HRs. He's an Adam Dunn kinda guy.
  21. Fair enough, lol.
  22. I just saw this on ESPN. Even though I hate the Colts more than anything, what Dungy has been able to do is absolutely amazing. He is well-respected by any fan with a brain, and my condolences go to his family. I cannot even imagine... Thoughts are with you Tony.
  23. Did you see that clip on SportsCenter where they went around asking the Lakers who they thought was the number 1 team in LA? It was funny. All the Lakers players were so convinced that the Clippers were still the second-tier LA team
